Sherlock Holmes - The House of Fear - On Vinyl
Hello and thanks for clicking in.
Spinning on the record player right now is The House of Fear, a 1945 Sherlock Holmes crime film that was put on vinyl. This record was released in 1980.
I bought this record from a thrift store. The album cover is in good condition, but the record has seen better days. It was pretty dirty and has a lot of scratches, likely from taking the record in and out of the cover without a sleeve. I used software to remove most of the clicks and pops as best I could. If you want to hear the original version, let me know, maybe I would upload that too.
Anyways, as usual, I cleaned the record cover by hand with a moist soapy towel, cleaned the record by hand with my own concoction of distilled water/alcohol mix and then gave the record a bath in my Ultrasonic Cleaner** that I modified for cleaning records.
Hardware & Software I use is listed at the end of this description, I get nothing from them, just letting you know what I use.
Thanks, and hope you enjoy this record from the past and maybe relive some memories.
Till next time,
Steve

Nothing fancy about the Hardware I use:
GLi Pro BD-1600 Turntable w/ Audio Technica cartridge
DAK 2800-PC Mixer
DIY Cork Platter Mat
Software I use:
DAK Industries ( www.dak.com ) Audio Workshop - Sometimes I use this to remove clicks & pops automatically if there are too many to remove manually. I also use this for track splitting & track labeling.
AVS4YOU ( www.avs4you.com ) Audio Editor - I use this to transfer the vinyl to a digital format, fade-in / fade-out, and to remove clicks and pops that Audio Workshop does not fix. I find this software is quicker than Audio Workshop for cleaning up the sound just a bit more.
VSDC ( www.videosoftdev.com ) Video Editor - I use this to make my videos.
GIMP (www.gimp.org) Image Manipulation - I use this to make my TH-cam thumbnail picture and for editing the pictures I use in the video.

Latch Repair on RV Exit Window

Hello and thanks for clicking in. Spinning on the record player right now is The War of the Worlds - Invasion from Mars. From what I can see on the internet, this record was released around 1955. Read the story on the back cover and imagine what it must have been like, in that time period, when you didn't have all the communication devices we have now. Pretty scary, right? I bought this record ...
RV Tire - Blowout Repair

See repairs I did for fixing the wheel well area in our travel trailer after we had a tire blow out. Do this at your own risk and in no way am I saying this is the right thing to do for this type of repair. This is only what I did. If you're unsure, take it to a dealer to check out.
Replace your RV Gas Detector - It's Pretty Simple

My old LP Gas Monitor started beeping all the time and after some research I found out that you should replace them after so many years. It was pretty simple and thought you might want to see for yourself. Hope you enjoy the video. Replacing Air Coupler on my Pancake Air Compressor

These fittings go bad eventually with all the times you connect and disconnect air tools and hoses. It's a pretty simple fix and the same process would work for your air hose. I grabbed this Merlin brand from Harbor Freight, and they are supposed to be higher quality then their other brands. Time will tell but for less than $5 it's worth a try. The quality looked really good so they look pretty...

I know this off by heart , to be able to listen to it in bed is amazing, I love it, thank you 🙏
Great job!
I just had 2 tires come apart this weekend, got lucky just tore the black film , I believe it's called darco wrap basically it's like the blue tarps you can get at harbor freight, putting on g rated tires this week
This is great but as per the blurb on the back, how much of it is a re-enactment? Orson's fabulous voice is unmistakable. I understand Agnes Moorhead was a huge star at the time and was famous for her "horrified" screams.
Why not replace the rivets with screws?
Good question. I don't think a screw is a good idea because it would have a sharp point. Remember, this is a way to get out of the trailer, so you don't want to have something you could cut yourself on. I guess you could do a small nut & bolt, but you'd have to make sure it was short enough to not interfere with the window when it closes.
It has to be taken into account how ahead of it's time this broadcast was. All "found footage" movies, and "reality shows" can trace their DNA to this one production.
Cool❤
And the very next day, the dog did it again
Wow, I didn't think I would ever hear this again. This was one of my dad's records. Bringing back some good memories
gr00vy!!!!!
Just now accidentally swallowed a tine from a plastic fork with my noodles. Feeling a mild pain in my stomach, hope I'll be well 😅😂
Thank you so much for this great How to build a coffin out of free pallets! That's exactly what me & Mom will do! I work at a grocery store so I have access to pallets but I just have to make sure I can take them first!
So, i see you used plastic boxes. I have metal boxes and am just concerned about using metal boxes having the whole thing grounded, and also about using plastic box extenders as i couldn't ground to the metal box. Would a goof ring work?
Thank you for uploading!
You're welcome! Glad you found it. Are you listening all the way over in Tokyo?
always love the raw factor with analog recordings ..as if it (software ) removes pops/tics,,it MUST remove some depth to the music ? thanx for post ..looking at the LP for sale .
I am sure there is some kind of loss, but I don't know how much. I can't really hear much difference, but I am sure if you had a nice system you could hear a change. I guess it comes down to if you want to hear ticks or not. Some want them and some don't.
i wonder how many old drivers like me are still in trucking
That's a great question! I always wonder if there are old drivers out there that might remember these tunes. As most kids did back in the day, I had a fascination with big rigs and still do to this day. I picked up another record a few days ago and hope to upload it soon.
I do was a kid growing up riding with my dad in r model Mack now been driving my whole life
Omg thank you for uploading this! I recently got this vinyl just to find out my record player was broken. So im beyond happy i can listen to the record here, or aleast until i get my record player fixed
Your welcome, glad I could help!
Can anyone ID who are the four musicians in the photo? 60+ years later, and it looks like the info is not out there on the internet?
I can't, there has been so many changes that it's hard to know. I still have a few albums to upload when I get a chance. Hope you enjoyed the tunes.
@@steveshomeLooking forward to your releases. I have been collecting a bunch of Ray Richardson's Ink Spots. I think they put out 6 full-length records! Though I have the records, I don't have the means to convert them to digital. :(

I need help :). I want to make a green house out of pallets and old windows. So the lower wall will be pallets and just above them would be all windows. I plan on doing a slant roof so I can catch all the rain water. Anyways should I do 2x4s the full length between each pallet or should I just go as high as the pallet? I know I will have to frame in the windows. Which I have no idea how to do 😂 but I’m sure I can find out how !
Hi again, well, I hope I understand your question. If you are asking if a 2x4 should go from the floor or bottom all the way up to the roof, I would recommend that. That would make the top and bottom rows a lot stronger. Is that what you are asking?
This is the best pallet shed I’ve ever seen!!!!
Thank you for the nice comment!
Excellent work as usual.
I appreciate that!
EEEEEEEEEEEE! This was not only my favorite album as a kid and it became my eldest's favorite as well! ❤❤❤❤
I had that album too. Years gone by, no idea where it ended up. My favorite was Can Can.
Honestly, I would never have thought of that. That’s a solid hack right there.
Beavis & Butt-Head brought me here! 🤣🤣🤣
Oh man, that is hilarious! Yoko must have been mentioned in an episode.

Thanks for the comment, it was pretty simple.
Duh.
Just letting the younger folk know.
I have this album. Owned it since 1969. Love, love, love it. My kids love it too. Brings back so many memories...
What can I Say except it was enjoyable watching the building of the shed. Excellent work from start to finish.
Are the new LEDs marked for input and output side? Or does the LED provide direct pass-through of current so input and output side can be randomly connected?
Hello, they are pass-through, so they hook up to any side you want.
mega interessant :-(
That ain't the problem. The coupler shows thread sealant on it. The rral problem is the O-ring inside the coupler which seals against the plug. That gets bad many times because of extensive usage or poor quality. At least that's the conclusion that comes out of your video.
I agree, your correct. I tried to show with some squiggly lines that air was coming out from inside the coupler where the plug goes in. It was fine where the thread sealant was. I didn't see an O-ring in the old one but I do on the new one. Do you typically see them on all couplers?
very nice job.
Thank you, it is much nicer having all that noise out of my Pallet shed.
So far so good. Looking forward to #3. Nice work as usual.
Thanks!
Thankyou for this. My dad brought the LP home when he left South Africa where he got this LP (different cover than yours) from a dear friend called Mary. This was in 1964 and all family members loved the songs from IRELAND. And still do. My Mom and Dad are no longer with us but I still listen to The Living Voices(The Anita Kerr singers) now and then. 🤩
I received this album for Christmas in 1964. Thank you for the memories.
You're welcome. Do you remember how long you had it and was it a record you listened to a lot?
@@steveshome I had the album until 1971, then I moved out of my parents home and left it behind with many of my other belongings. I probably played it regularly for 3-4 years.
Thank you
I'm getting ready to install metal like that for my backsplash and the sides of my built in burners and base of my homemade island. This video answered alot of questions for me in a no bs way that was easily understandable and I thank you sincerely for that. It's about midnight and I'm not stopping till i use all my steel panels up lol night rider!!

It helped me to put a dap of CA glue on the rubber isolation pads to keep them in place. They kept falling off and really pissed me off many times trying to put the housing back together.
Sounds like a great idea, thanks for the tip.
