Bonafide RVR 119 - Why you shouldn’t buy!

After taking this boat out a couple times I feel as though I have a good feel for what it is, and what it ain’t. This is my honest 300lb man review. It is fast and turns quickly. Easy to paddle and not too heavy. The seat is good, not great but good. All the gimmick stuff work as advertised. The issue is as a big guy, I pull water into the kayak. Enjoyed the video but thought I'd offer some tips going forward for other vids. Sometimes people "can't see the forest for the trees" and need outside, independent, impartial observation and comment. 1. Saying "gis and gat" are NOT acceptable substitution's for "this and that." 2. It's 65 cents (with an s), not 65 cent. similarly you need "20 Feet of cable, not 20 foot." Do you not understand the basic difference between singular and plural? 3. You're using ply-ers, not plars. 4. As a self-confessed redneck, why are you buying chinese made products vs "Made in the USA???" 5. But most disturbing is you calling your father, on a public platform like TH-cam, "Daddy." NO grown up male, certainly no REAL, masculine adult male, calls their father "Daddy!" It's gross, and in psychiatry, it's linked to an "erotic affinity to a male father figure." 6. In your video you mentioned that you feel that there should be "more right and wrong in the world." well, you should practice what you preach. Start with speaking/talking correctly and coherently. It'll make you sound less stupid. While proudly calling yourself a redneck might be "cool" in your southern circles, it's not cool to the rest of the world. It's a HUGE reason why they make fun of you people, why southerners are the brunt of so many degrading jokes, and one (of the many reasons) why you lost the Civil War. I hope that this (not gis) helped.

    Nice setup! I have the same motor, but haven’t mounted it yet. I was gonna do the whole pwm/foot steer thing, but I think I’m gonna do it your way. Less expense and more simple. What is the extension handle and what kind of speed do you get on that BigRig? Thanks.

    • @mtnwayadventures9661
      @mtnwayadventures9661 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fly_yaker not sure on the speed. I fish mostly in rivers so the current varies the speed a lot. I know it did 3.8 in a lake. I’m 300# so that factors in also. I didn’t want to do a PWM after I’ve been out with a couple guys that were stranded after they failed. I used the Atwood handle but extended it with just a piece of pvc pipe I painted. I put a pin in it to make it easier to transport.

    well now....good video. IMHO I do not think the conduit is neccessary, nor the drilling of holes. I have something similar, but used a pulley that is attached to the bow carry handle. As for the retractable clothes line, I mounted it in a track with a tee bolt. Should I ever decide to go with an anchor trolley, I would attach a carabiner to the middle ring of the trolley and hang a pulley there. This would give me line management and the ability to position the anchor anywhere. No need for two anchors, but could be useful should you be in rivers. As for the knot, I use a figure knot which is pretty small and passes through the retractable clothes line (mine has a little holder built in to lock in the line, so I don't need a cleat either.) That being said, everyone has different needs and your idea is certainly a good way to go for what YOU need.

    • @mtnwayadventures9661
      @mtnwayadventures9661 ปีที่แล้ว

    My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    You want to be at or less than around 60% of the kayaks capacity for the water to stay lower in the scuppers. You could also use scupper plugs. Foam golf balls make great scupper plugs. Then your gear, you’re a big boy, you are 100% gonna need scupper plugs I think no matter what kayak you choose, except maybe the largest kayaks like say a native watercraft titan? If you like the boat and are keeping it, scupper plug it. Have fun

    Most kayak companies include their weight of the kayak in the weight capacity. May be your problem. The shock cord in the rear tank well has a seat clip that hooks on to the seat bar to hold the seat down. Load the boat bow first and lay the seat back and go down the highway at 70 mph. I do it regularly.

    • @mtnwayadventures9661
      @mtnwayadventures9661 ปีที่แล้ว

      My only experience with new kayaks, the companies did not include the weight of the kayak. If the weight limit of my big rig is 550, that is not using the weight of the kayak to take it down to 450 lbs. the capacity does NOT include seat and drive. Wilderness also does not count the weight of the kayak into the capacity. Not sure if other brands as I have no experience with the customer service part of it. You are right about the seat bar holder. I just didn’t see it at the time.

    Kayak weight limit is determined by your weight is a little misleading in the Kayak industry. When they say a boat has a weight capacity of 425 lbs, that’s your weight plus your gear weight plus the actual weight of the kayak itself. So bonafides website says 425 but that is not the usable capacity. You subtract the 85 lbs the boat weighs leaving you with 385 then subtract the weight of yourself and gear. A good rule of thumb is to not exceed 70% of that max capacity as well because at that point it dramatically effects the performance of the kayak. Hope this comment helps someone.

    • @mtnwayadventures9661
      @mtnwayadventures9661 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most companies do not include the weight of the kayak itself. You must count the seat, accessories, tackle, angler, etc but not the vessel itself. I wish they would make it uniform like they have in the boat industry. Boat weight capacity never includes the boat. I hope that the USCG will look into this and make it a uniform system for everyone and require testing. It does say on Bonafide’s website to include the kayak weight in the capacity. It isn’t hidden. I just didn’t think to look for that caveat with them considering I own 5 other kayaks and none of them include the vessel weight into the capacity.

      @@mickeyhavoc939 you are right. I just wanted to point out to people who are used to companies that tell you how much weight it holds, not how much total weight can be on the water. Capacity probably shouldn’t include the vessel weight. Maybe one day it will become standardized.
