[TAS] Pokemon Crystal Clear 2.1.2 "Catch Em All, Glitchless" in 3:08:11.67 by Stan?
This is a tool-assisted superplay (TAS) of the romhack Pokemon Crystal Clear, version 2.1.2.
This is a HUGE improvement over my similar run in 2.0 BETA (~5 hours 19 minutes), mostly due to newly introduced wild encounters and some additional game features. This run features 99% less gym time while making light of a crippling Game Corner addiction, with a dash of petty theft to spice things up.
There are a handful of tiny inaccuracies on the way through, but the biggest time-wasting issue by far was leaving Lugia in the top slot throughout most of the run; switching to Snorlax (whose battle cry is MUCH shorter) during phases of the playthrough that lack Trainer battles would have been more ideal. That one change alone could likely have shaved close to 2 minutes of the final time. Oh well...

Sunkern finally meets his match in the form of Honeybun, Shockslayer, and Red. It is only at this point that we need to resort to soft resetting until luck finally goes our way. Surprisingly, the final in-game time (including all the off-cam grinding) is only around 7 hours. Good job Sunkern, I guess.

In between recording sessions I used the Rare Candies to boost Sunkern to L100, then used all the vitamins I could for a few additional stat points. The end result is a Sunkern which easily laid waste to the remainder of the Gym Challenge. (well, the last few fights weren't easy, but hey it's a Sunkern I'm using)

The beginning of Sunkern's voyage to dominance. I cobble together his moveset, get him way, WAY ahead of the level curve, and earn the first couple of badges. Note that, for viewing convenience, grinding is NOT recorded. If you're curious, I just rechallenge Misty's gym over and over for experience (the main reason that I choose to tackle her gym first).

Finally got the stars to align for a sub-50 run!. Slightly more accurate on movement this time, and battle RNG was overall more in my favor (No HJK misses... but Red's Blastoise DID get a Blizzard freeze on me, so there's that). So what's next? An excellent run... until SS in the Elite 4. Missed a HJK on Tyranitar... then on the following attempt I got a bad damage roll against Curse Skarmory, so it got to Rest and then took FOREVER (speerun-wise) to KO. @@mrconmanstan1383 I don’t know if this was possible in the version of the game the TAS was made on, but you can also skip all the fights in Sprout Tower if you come in via a back entrance on the water left of the gym, which allows you to steal the Rainbow Wing.

I love speed runs that I can keep on for the entire day and just do whatever while watching it in the background, I pay attention to it though and I'll die in a game but notice a runner complete a hard segment, or get a lucky card drop like in yugioh forbidden memories and I'll pop off with em X3

might be irrelevant now but doesn't the shiny animation from Gyarados cost you a ton of time? like 1 sec per battle
Fair question. Each Shiny animation costs about 75 frames. Red Gyara is deployed into battle 44 times during the run, using up ~55 seconds on the Shiny animation alone. While it seems costly, I had three main reasons to use him anyway: 1. Red Gyarados encounter gives the Red Scale. I later trade it for Exp. Share, which can only be obtained otherwise by spending a bunch of money (Game Corner) or taking a long detour (Cherrygrove Cave). 2. He's a very strong high-level Pokemon available at the start of the adventure. The only other comparable fighters available that early are Pokemon from Mt. Silver or Cerulean Cave; going to either place too early would only require a return trip later (thus wasting time). 3. Thrash is an incredible move. You get multiple KOs for only one PP, and each turn of Thrash after the first saves ~20 frames since you don't have to reselect Attack -> Thrash (the game just autoscrolls for you). So yeah, it was a tough decision to stomach, but I think it was worth it, all things considered.

Mewtwo should definitely have Psychic as it's common for casuals and speedrunners to have this move on it. I'm looking at you, Smogon. TASers give Mewtwo Blizzard and Thunder while the rest give it the inferior Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, but all "Genwunners" give it Fire Blast. Gen II instead of Fire Blast, it gets Shadow Ball. Gen IV TAS give it Focus Blast while the rest give it Aura Sphere to replace the ice move. Gen V give it Psystrike instead of Psychic. Gens VI give it the Mewtwonite Y. Gen VII give it the Psychium Z. Gen VIII it can Dynamax.

This run could probably have been under 10hr 30min, but I wasted a LOT of time with menu/PC inaccuracies, not to mention forgetting to catch Poliwhirl and having to go back for that. With excellent RNG on the 1% encounters as well as further route optimizations (some ideas for which I added to the video description) sub-10hrs may even be doable. I just know I'm not doing it again any time soon!
