First AUSTRALIS with SLIDE-OUT! | Australis Caravans Coastline XT 226
Australis Caravans is a growing manufacturer based in Craigieburn, Vic, and in that time it has established a small range of caravans. Starting with the Coastline range, Australis expanded to include the Overland and High Country.
The first Coastline was a 20ft family model, but company directors Mark Chadwick and Alex Nastevski had long planned to create a slide-out model, too. In early October, that plan came to fruition when the Coastline XT 226 rolled off the production line.
Tare: 3000kg (approx)
ATM: 3500kg
Unladen ball weight: 240kg
Price at time of review: $133,420 (with options); base price: $107,000

I'm looking and very keen on a run out 2024 Masterpiece Performance 20' 6" and noticed the rear spare tyre hangs low and off the back a fair way, i was wondering if Masterpiece have come up with a mount for on top of the rear Bumper. it would increase the departure angle plus shorten the overall length 300-400mm. Apart from that the Masterpiece range performed great and honestly its probably more extreme offroad than I'd be planning to tow it through
Just ordered my Infiniti. Can’t wait. Already spent 5k on extras couldn’t justify the awning unfortunately
Based on all the feedback we have on the product and first and experience - she goes OK ;) You will have fun. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel if you haven't done so yet for more great videos.
I don’t see why it can’t be tied down. I assume it will be designed to allow for an anti flap kit. Does cost a bit but wonderful potential. So you have to park in the sun just like every other van with solar panels on the roof 😂. Can’t wait to see how it performs longer term. 👍🏻
I've just bought myself this exact van pretty excited to clean her up 😁 I'll have to post my progress on my TH-cam channel😊
Good luck with the restoration!

Is this genuine 4x4 or all wheel drive? Didn't think they still make the 4x4. Looks great though.

@gorv How many watts can a 16ft produce under ideal conditions?
How accessible are 48v appliances including lights and stuff? What about charging from the car? How heavy is it? What’s the payload with full water tanks?
All appliances, lights etc are either 12V or 240V. Power from the battery is either delivered as 12V or 240V through the on-board 3000W inverter. Only the power is stored at 48V, that way, more power can be stored in a smaller battery.
The batteries are charged via an Anderson plug from the car, roof-mounted solar panels or from Shore power - power goes in as 12V or 240V and stored as 48V. The 19'6" has 2 x 100l fresh water tanks, which when full, would decrease the payload of the van. The payload for a standard 19'6" is approx 700kgs - meaning it would reduce to 500kgs with full water tanks.
Check out the full review in Go RV magazine - out 28/11. This van is on the cover with a comprehensive review. go to GoRV.com.au for more detail and don't forget to subscribe to our TH-cam channel for more great videos.
Yeah I should have got it when I bought it, they were running a promo at the time but it was a different brand of awning. Not sure about the electric awning though, mine has failed and it’s only a few months old.
Do not go with 48v 😢
Because??
With such a well thought out out and reasoned response I guess that rules out 48 v then

@@JodieJoyce-p5w what about charging through 12 volt solar to the 48 volt 🤔
@@jeofflemon5561 The MPPT solar charger changes the 12V input to store the power at 48V
Is it repairable after an accident?
Absolutely (depending on the extent of damage) but they generally can be repaired by a qualified panel beater

What is the Tare weight on Epic Explorer-18ft Model?
The expected TARE weight of the 18ft Epic Explorer is 2700kgs - giving a payload of 800kgs
What awning is that?
Ridiculously priced
Great awning, but a $4500 upgrade 😳
well...... its a great awning. What we saw and used - worth the consideration if you can do it.
Brilliant!!!
They'll Wrap EV Cars in this soon ❤
Cost is ridiculous, can't be tied down, back to the drawing board folks.
Mate great job. Some really good vans out there, Kokoda has always been one of our favorites but the Crusader just kept pipping it for all round value. Love their MY25 models maybe include the Excalibur Serenity in your next lot. Cheers Oh that Hilltop looks the goods too.
Thanks for the positive feedback. We are releasing our Greatest Caravans of 2024 next week - keep an eye out. Subscribe to our channel if you haven't done so yet.
what do the insurance companies conclude?
This guy is so likable! As a never-towed-on-the-beach-before gal, I appreciate all the teachable moments he took, too.
Off grid camping? In a living room with wheels, you are pulling yourselves........typical boomers
It’s getting away from it all whilst taking it all with you.
I must admit I am very unsure about this. Firstly, you couldn't tie it down. Secondly, if you use the anti-flap kit, you would have to remember to remove it each time you go out because the weather could change at any time, and if the auto-close kicks in, you could cause a lot of damage. And at around $6400 for a 16-ft, that's a lot of money if you have to replace it plus the cost to the van. 🤔
I love the concept, but in the video the awning seems to sag a fair bit. I currently have a manual awning and use supex de flapper clamps to take up the sag. Can you fit an anti-flap kit to this solar awning?
One thing that they offer are rafters that you can insert to take up some of the tension... but you need to remember to remove them if you leave the van as the built-in wind sensor will bring the awning in automatically when the wind kicks up, and apparently the motor is strong enough to cause damage if the rafter bars are still in place.
These guys have been in the game a long time have owned their previous atlantic models which were solid can’t wait to upgrade to their new models not many companies do 5 year warranty never heard off which is another big move wow.
Whether it works or not I celebrate the fact that people are wanting to invent products to improve caravans. I invented a system where we have 2000w of solar on an 18’ van. On a sunny day you can run the aircon and everything else for at least 7 hours before you start using what’s in the battery. I hope this is a great success for this man.
First in the world in Oz it going to cost stupid money
I have known Peter for many years in the industry, great quality builds and craftsmanship in all his products. Peter and his team ensure quality, comfort, and practicality in their designs. Top-notch builds for all different types of adventures! I am looking forward to purchasing my first Pathfinder! Hope to see the offroad and family models soon, can't wait!
$6400 for the 16ft $5800 for the 12ft I reckon the awning itself would weigh around 100-150kg. Prob can't use a flap kit incase you squash or crack a cell. Looks like it sags more then an overloaded prado towing a van. Would be great to use when it's not windy otherwise it will be ripped of the van.
Finally ✔️ It will require a flap kit ❌️
Flap kit will prob damage it
Eventually the design will get better , I currently pull my awning in at around 30kph , but when I use the Aussie Traveller Anti Flap Kit I can keep it out until around 40kph.. Cost will eventually come down , maybe a combination of the current panels and the rollable polymer films in the future will be more durable and cost less to manufacture..🤷♂️ th-cam.com/video/CJiMpAxuNKg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oN9O7qOje_ybmxaa th-cam.com/video/Q_526bfLR-I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FIgrGH4_QT_5RBug
Now you have to park in the sun. Save the $$$ and get a dethatched ground mounted system.
😂😂 you do realise an awning blocks the sun to create shade and you have to roll it out to generate solar power. Not to mention the caravan is insulated with an aircon.
@Aussie_Damo if you think you can run an air-conditioning system off this you must be dreaming
We tested it - and you can!
@gorv share the price so we can compare it to a longer lasting ground mounted system
@@MatthewBayard full review with specs and price in our December edition. Head to gorv.com.au for our free emags .
Cost will be a deciding factor, great idea though
It's about 6400 for the 16ft
Brilliant...what does it cost?
5800 for the 12ft and 6400 for the 16ft
The fella states "its not just your glued and screwed and stapled construction," yet that is exactly what I'm looking at. Are there dowels holding the framework as well? The reason I ask is because I've been caught in the past with cheap, flimsy builds that look a million dollars on the outside, but when put to the test, they fell apart. It's a bit of "once bitten, twice shy." I am in no way saying this company caught me out before and won't disclose the brand that did, but I am more cautious about listening to sales pitches from anybody in the future.
If you’re in the market, go check them out. I’m sure they’d be happy to show you what they do. Yes, these vans are ‘timber and tin’ but there is absolutely nothing flimsy here. I wouldn’t say they were strong if I didn’t believe it.
Loving Sam and Jordie and their experiences are helping.

This is a joke! Go RV was promoting Tango caravans a few months ago then next minute the company go in to administration we all loss our money and you help one person who had also been been promoting the company before they went broke to get a free caravan! Then you post this video showing off how lucky they are to get a free this van all while other people lost all of their money and you have the audacity to tell her not to feel bad that she is the one person to get a free van! You should be discussed with yourselves both of you! I’m sure you were being paid to promote Tango vans before they went broke and you had know problem taking their money you are as disgraceful as Tango!
First of all is bloody great to see Sam again. That's a great looking van ,very well set out. I've got a older European van a Ariva GTS Lunar. It's so much lighter than our vans in Australia. I'm modifying it so it's fully off road we love it . but I wish more European vans got more shown & talked about. So thank for that 🙏.
I have been looking at vans for a awhile had a deposit on a expensive retreat 190k cancelled and bought this super impressive van this can’t wait
Nice choice. They MDCs are looking pretty great these days.
I notice your towing a Nissan is that a NP 300, we are thinking of the 19 but unsure if we can tow with our NP twin turbo Navara
Literally thousands of new vans sitting in yards right throughout the eastern seaboard. Good luck 😅
whoa.. Sir, if you don't get the copper in the wire up to temp, the solder will not flow into the cable and you'll have a high resistance connection = a recipe for fire. Crimp correctly or solder properly, not both. Ideally, dip the cable into some flux then add to the solder pool and apply more heat until the solder flows into the cable. It should look smooth and uniform. You can absolutely remove the wires once they're clipped in if you need to. Just lever the tab down with a small screw driver or scribe and pull the cable.
Old caravans are a bit gross and the only way I reckon it's worth doing is to strip them back to the shell, that's why I think of them as a piece of junk containing more junk, with potential.
