I'm a patient and I would have loved a nurse like this. Respectful knowledgeable and fun. Many nurses come in and they own your body.

I study just like this but instead, I utilize Quizlet to my advantage such as using their flashcards and just going over them repeatedly. I like to rewrite my notes down in my words or in a simpler definition. It takes some time but it is worth it because I am understanding the material. I also have a whiteboard so when I am studying with flashcards I like to say the answer out loud as I write it.

The "feeding times" part is giving me pause. Don't newborns eat at random times? Is the goal 8 feeds per day or eat on an imposed schedule? Do you help the moms breastfeed? Does everyone think something is wrong if the baby doesn't eat on an imposed schedule?

My best friend is a L&D nurse and she just so happened to be working the night I went into labor with my son…she actually ended up delivering him because I laboured for so long at home that I was already at 9cm when I arrived and my son was not about to wait for the on call dr to get there 😂

Very interesting how hospitals are different. We have audiology do the hearing screens, lab workers collecting most bili and newborn screens. However, I work at a level 4 maternal care facility so our moms are PPH, Diabetics, Mag pts, C-sections, Chorio etc. We also have babies who are IUGR/SGA/LGA, CPS cases, coombs positive/hyperbili, hypoglycemic, chorio/syphilis/GBS + 😅. As you said... depending on the situation it can definitely be a different type of busy. Regardless of how crazy it can get I enjoy this waaaaay better than my ex-cardiac sx job w/adults lol. You sound like a very sweet PP nurse, thank you for sharing such an ideal scenario, refreshing 🥰.

5:59 it's always seemed crazy to me how much is expected of students to memorize in nursing school, let alone any allied health program, but it's amazing to SEE how much could actually be stored when you repeatedly study the information 🙏🏽 props to ya! and thanks for the tips <3

Very good method, thanks for sharing! I also explain the information to myself, I have a 45 minute drive to my school so I do it then. I’m in my last semester of my program and noticed some RN jobs & RN to bsn programs require a 3.0! I’m at a 2.87 so I’d need 2 As (93% and up at my nursing program) and 1 B to bring it up to a 3.0!

This is a lot of work! I have test every Mondays, cardiac ,mental health ,urinary etc . Depending on the body system(MedSurg) for dat week. So one barely ve time to create study notes like this. Above all ,I love the getting a private study room and a dry eraser board. It has really helped me so far in the program. Writing from your memory can’t be overemphasized! It’s a great tip.

I couldn’t watch it on TH-cam. It says “something went wrong. Tap to retry “ like others have been saying. The only way to view it is to copy and paste it in a separate search engine. Which is a lot of work for ur whole following. I can’t even rewind the video back 10 seconds. U should jus take it down and repost it. It would get more views in the long run.
