    This is a great video! There are so many top ten Hitchcock videos, and there's nothing wrong with those, but you do get tired of hearing about Psycho, Rear Window, Vertigo, and North by Northwest all the time. It's nice to hear about some of his other works. Thank you!

    Is the child / adult weirdness in Blank Check any worse than what happened in Big where the relationship was actually (shudders) consummated?

    • @daniverse9625
      @daniverse9625 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's almost about the same, except he's in an adult's body, and the movie is better made. I actually wrote an earlier part of my script where I mentioned that Blank Check was around the same era as Big, but I cut it because I didn't want the video to get overindulgent or ramblingly. I also thought of Milk Money from the same year, which, while PG-13, does feature kids hanging out with a hooker, although maybe that's a bit more realistic, and the romance is with the dad, thankfully. We were far less desensitized about this stuff back then, but in a negative way.

    As a Christian man myself, I am on both sides of the argument. I love Pre-Code cinema, unlike many of those within my same religious beliefs 90+ years ago. They do provide complex stories regarding violence, psychology, infidelity, drug use, etc. which are very interesting and nuanced. However, I will disagree with you that it was a type of "brainwashing." The whole idea of the League of Decency was that they believed that films of the Pre-Code type suggested a way of life that was antithetical to the teachings of Christ, and that it would influence the Christian people to act in ways synonymous to what was seen in the movies. Obviously I personally reject that sentiment because I am a believer and I have watched these films, and yet I haven't committed any of the negative actions that are depicted in some of these movies. But I can understand where their intentions laid.

    • @daniverse9625
      @daniverse9625 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe not brainwashing, but it was certainly trying to impose their lifestyles, and I'm not much of a fan of trying to impose those types of restrictions in entertainment, although like everything it depends on the context

    This might be the only Winnie The Pooh flick that legitimately horrified me as a child, but that's why it also left me feeling expanded as a person in a way after watching it for the first time (I can still recall that time like it was yesterday). Before it, I remember only seeing The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh several times on VHS. While 'The Many Adventures' was and still remains the overall superior Pooh-film of them all (along with the 2011-movie) due to it's simplicity and harmless tone that is consistent with the original novels, Pooh's Grand Adventure was the first one to somewhat actually challenge it's viewers, kinda like what Batman Returns did to it's target audience with the even more depressing storyline and more horrifying tone than it's 1989-predecessor (which is also still widely considered the better of the two).
