What Even Were the Dick Tracy Specials?!
0:00, Spioea-Man.
Comparing Radio with Green Book is insane yet so proper.
This is a great video! There are so many top ten Hitchcock videos, and there's nothing wrong with those, but you do get tired of hearing about Psycho, Rear Window, Vertigo, and North by Northwest all the time. It's nice to hear about some of his other works. Thank you!
When it comes to saving the world from asteroids, Bruce Willis got it done with minimal sacrifice. Therefore Armageddon > Deep Impact.
I liked Ebert more, what an intellect, Siskel was too, almost contemptuous of the opinions of others, whom he often looked at with a little smirk ;-)
this video gives me 2012 vibes (in a good way)
Thanks. It's very simple, meant to be gag a minute delivery. Much easier to make than my more analytic, research heavy, stuff
I saw a glimpse of the dreaded Michael Rapaport in that Deep Blue Sea segment. As I haven’t seen that movie in almost a quarter century and can’t remember anything about it, please tell me he didn’t make it all the way through it, right?
Nobody but Jane and L.L. Cool J makes it out of that movie alive.
Thank you so much for putting these reviews together.
The decade of Divorce narratives.
Surprising a non narrative in a lot of these movies, as the parents are either happily married or the mom is dead
Is the child / adult weirdness in Blank Check any worse than what happened in Big where the relationship was actually (shudders) consummated?
It's almost about the same, except he's in an adult's body, and the movie is better made. I actually wrote an earlier part of my script where I mentioned that Blank Check was around the same era as Big, but I cut it because I didn't want the video to get overindulgent or ramblingly. I also thought of Milk Money from the same year, which, while PG-13, does feature kids hanging out with a hooker, although maybe that's a bit more realistic, and the romance is with the dad, thankfully. We were far less desensitized about this stuff back then, but in a negative way.
Are we really saying Joe Pesci wasn't a star prior to home alone?
Major movie star. Pesci didn't become a headliner until after his Oscar win for Goodfellas, same year as Home Alone, before that he was often a supporting player
As a Christian man myself, I am on both sides of the argument. I love Pre-Code cinema, unlike many of those within my same religious beliefs 90+ years ago. They do provide complex stories regarding violence, psychology, infidelity, drug use, etc. which are very interesting and nuanced. However, I will disagree with you that it was a type of "brainwashing." The whole idea of the League of Decency was that they believed that films of the Pre-Code type suggested a way of life that was antithetical to the teachings of Christ, and that it would influence the Christian people to act in ways synonymous to what was seen in the movies. Obviously I personally reject that sentiment because I am a believer and I have watched these films, and yet I haven't committed any of the negative actions that are depicted in some of these movies. But I can understand where their intentions laid.
Maybe not brainwashing, but it was certainly trying to impose their lifestyles, and I'm not much of a fan of trying to impose those types of restrictions in entertainment, although like everything it depends on the context
How much did the Donald Hill script and Larry Gill script differ from the finished film
Well for one thing he wasn't Larry. I'll have to find the rest of my notes again, though, been a year
@@daniverse9625ok
Wasn't Robert Flory's The Wolf Man about a young boy who was raised by some wolves and becomes a werewolf
I read some conflicting script things, the documentary on the wolf man claims that, but the additional information suggests another thing
@@daniverse9625just a quick question how did the Donald Hill script and the Larry Gill script differ from the finished film
@@daniverse9625you sure it was The Wolf Man Universal wanted to adapt The Werewolf Of Paris before Guy Endore hired Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a script writer
I Confess introduced me to Montgomery Clift, but I didn't fully appreciate his acting style until A Place in the Sun. He is one of my favorite actors to watch. His third film he did with Elizabeth Taylor, Suddenly, Last Summer, despite its disturbing subject matter, is so engrossing. I never want to turn it off when I watch it.
the ghost and the darkness is so dumb it's retarded
Narration was too annoying to listen to, gave up 5 minutes in. Try using an AI narrator.
Ebert is wrong in all of their arguments
You could apply what he says about movie posters to how films are made today as well. It's all about "more is more" rather than "less is more".
These guys were smart, funny and had integrity
Never saw it …Were there ANY laughs to be had in that Chris Farley/Matthew Perry movie?
Chris Farley gets attacked by a bunch of birds while stealing eggs, that's not a bad sequence
Thanks, I just watched the eggs clips. Farley truly was the epitome of “physical comedy”.
Pooh’s Inferno
I love the subtext of these arguments where they are really telling each other to go to hell! :)
Predator .. not so good Up1 Gene Species . Up2 Gene . Ok the end could have been a lot better. Body Double Pretty good but expected better. Up1 Gene Misses Doubtfire. Not bad. Up1 Roger Raw Up1 Roger. Not really funny. End of Violence. Easy to see how it's flawed but I liked it a lot. Up2 Gene. Neither reviewer agrees with me much, but Gene and me agree more.
Times like when Roger is shitting on Species, I have to question one or the other of these guys' heterosexuality. Gene was the opposite on this one, noting how great Henstridge looked naked. It was part of the movie and it made it way better. Sexiness is part of movies, ffs.
Yes but it's cheap and easy to rely on it.
@@Blackjack-2028 And?
Hahaha it's so absurd how passionate they get about cop and a half and carnosaur
One of the worst takes on predator I've ever come across. Predator is one of the greatest action movies of all time
Wow... Siskel no shit says here he thinks pesci deserved an Oscar for his work in lethal weapon 2
Oh My God, you really need to fix your audio and speech in this video. It was very hard to understand you at times.
Probably the greatest movie critics ever Awesome Show They were huge
You know we as a society was so lucky to have these two men on tv, review and teach us non educated masses how and why movies work and dont work. I dare say we wouldnt be able to have this type of smart and funny show that was largely non-political and non-message. Yes we were spoiled.
Eddie Murphy sucks and is NOT funny.
cop and a half was fun kiddie fare. If I recall, neither one of them really liked robin williams's movies (as an adult i agree with them).
Who is the better actor: Al Pacione or Robeat De Niro?
The one who scratches the disks.
See, this is the magic you can't get with streaming media.
I trusted Gene Siskel much more than Roger. Roger Ebert was a great wordsmith but as a critic he let his judgement be overridden too often by his emotions. Having said that, there isn't a critic alive today that could carry the notebooks of these two. All critics today are bought and paid for and you cannot believe a word they say.

😂😂😂😂😂so funny!
How did this get anywhere when my other shorts did? This was just an experiment combining outtakes, and a few other scenes, somehow it got more views than the actual video that those outtakes were shot from, and nobody likes it. Well cross one over for the failure / success category

Ah, something that is sadly lost to time....
Yup, and there's more to come.
Spencer was a terrible movie. However, Stewart was amazing in it
She was Oscar Nominated for it, though
This might be the only Winnie The Pooh flick that legitimately horrified me as a child, but that's why it also left me feeling expanded as a person in a way after watching it for the first time (I can still recall that time like it was yesterday). Before it, I remember only seeing The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh several times on VHS. While 'The Many Adventures' was and still remains the overall superior Pooh-film of them all (along with the 2011-movie) due to it's simplicity and harmless tone that is consistent with the original novels, Pooh's Grand Adventure was the first one to somewhat actually challenge it's viewers, kinda like what Batman Returns did to it's target audience with the even more depressing storyline and more horrifying tone than it's 1989-predecessor (which is also still widely considered the better of the two).
Who is the actor wearing the Black Flag t-shirt?
John Laroquette
The dude on the left @ 8:23 IS NOT John Larroquette!
@@treatmentbound Oh Cheech Chong, John Candy, John Laroquette & Kirstie Alley, and Chris Kattan are all there
