Ending where you answer the phone without bucket leads you to believe he has a loving wife until the narrator reveals that he doesn't and that he was just trolling us. It's the same voice the narrator uses to make us think stanley has a wife. He doesn't. Some ideas are: 1. So, 434 might ALSO have the name stanley. 2. This call might be an accident from the narrator, from when he created the fake wife. 3. The narrator puts this call on purpose to tell stanley that he must have a wife and a real world outside of this monogamy (though in reality he doesn't.) 4. Stanley DOES have a wife and the narrator lied about him not having one. 5. Employee 434 is responsible for taking calls and distributing them to their appropriate destinations, which would explain why 434 and only 434 has the chance of getting a call about voice messages and this call from "Stanley's wife." 6. Stanley was originally employee number 434, but the narrator later changed it. 7. The narrator has potentially ran through hundreds of "employees" with his game, perhaps naming his employees Jim until one Jim became THE Jim that is spoken about in the video. After that he might have tried out the name chris, like the one mentioned on the whiteboard. I assume after that he would change the name and model to something else, like stanley. Maybe he called the girls "mariella" like the only female name in the whole game (from the ending where stanley goes crazy and is found on the sidewalk by that woman walking by.) 8. Stanley represents the ways that his coworkers have gone mad. The ending with the credits represents jim. The broom closet ending and jumping off the lift represent chris. The insanity ending represents mariella. Etc. Just a few theories. Idk.

Theory: Jim is Jim Halpert. they both work in an office, with a man named Stanley, in The Office, the ordinary boss (Michael Scott) leaves, and in The Stanley Parable, we can't find the boss. yes, this is far fetched, just hear me out.

I’ve been playing inverted for like 20 years now. One game it was default like that and I didn’t know how to change it and got used to it and realized for some reason once I was used to it I was aiming better then before and any of my family or friends I had through the years try it and get used to it for some reason they would aim better too 🤷‍♂️ although it was usually just the up and down inverted not both

Lol dude I sooo fucking get it it all made sense to me. The normal controls are counterintuitive. Using the object subject relationship inverted makes it counterintuitivly intuitive. It's the opposite of what you should naturally do to do so as to make your natural movements more natural. The normal feels good but at pro levels you can't do what needs to be done. The issue is readjusting requires sooo much thinking to stop your tendencies.

Two things to note: on one of the computers there is a console which says that there are two employees currently in the building, 427 and someone else, which could be jim or 432. also i cant remember but i believe there is some floor papers that show a transcript of the calls that you can hear in 434s desk so they are probably fabricated by the narrator or the boss

Absolutely fascinating, i love the game and i loved this video

Theres something i havent seen anyone mention on youtube relating to the bucket ending where you unplug the phone. I just find it very unnerving, especially the end part. With that said, while the video narrator says “And may earth reign supreme” for a split second there appears to be the earth with ufo-like objects and unrecognizable language. It most definitely has something to do with the “twelve-legged creatures” but it feels so out of place in The Stanley Parable, a game with a windows movie maker movie after you get a stanlurine (figley?) I was just wondering

Since 434 gets multiple voicemails in the game, a boring but logical possibility is that they simply hold a secretarial role and aren't around to transfer the calls to their intended recipients. Or they were instructed to record them to only be delivered to their targets at the end of each workday. Given how zombified everyone is meant to be while at the workplace, it may be a required procedure to keep outsiders from communicating with them directly while on the clock.

I like the idea that after stanley goes into the future he branches off of the timeline, and becomes jim. He branches because he was supposed to die at some point, or at least reset, but he doesnt, and he does. If stanely truly went to the future we wouldnt be able to reset it and go back to the past, then jump back to where he is in the epilogue, as never in the stanely parable have we saved a run before, thats why its jim we are taking over. This also means the narrator did fix the buttons, all besides one which says stanley, a fragment of jim still inside him from the branching.

Or heck they gave the bucket as a hr team so out of touch they gave a bucket and name and gave it to those like a emotional support animal

I would love to see it all drawn out. Its easier to visualize. Im really confused about inverting x-axis. It seems like if you invert Y you would also invert X, but I dont. I dont really enjoy controlling a camera in 3rd person because of this inconsistency. It requires me to constantly change my mental perspective and how I manipulate view. I think this is extremely fascinating. Id love to see a deep dive into each type of gamer and how it works for each.

so the thing is, there is actually some voice lines of the narrator that suggests that stanley may be watched. first, when we go out of 427 room, the narrator says "someone was following stanley, he was sure of it. if he checked over his shoulder now, he would surely catch them. it was only a matter of time." You missed something regarding Gamboratta. In the "out of the map ending" (the one where you hop through a window), if you take the bucket, then whoever was turned into the bucket tells you his story, making you kill it. I don't have SPUD nearby me right now, so I cannot say what the bucket said.

Not all the buttons say Jim or Stanley. I found one that said home.
