I feel like knight mode is also modified by Optimus him self. As you mentioned the part where he gets stabbed, we see after revenge of the fallen Optimus has a reinforced lower chest where he was stabbed by Megatron. In consideration of that I think Optimus split apart his exterior armor in such a way that it reinforces his torso and chest area as that is where he commonly saw combat deficiencies. You also notice he has armor on his armpits/shoulder region maybe due to the battle with Sentinel.

As I know,Sentinel isn't a part of 13 Original primes,he is not a prime at all

I want to say this is a weird take as sentinel is not a real prime but the helmet never proved that since it is attached either way anf part of him he is just not a full prime he is a fake but to be fair he is a really good character and honestly either explaination works so he is just a great villain and that’s really it

Depending on the lore you follow, Sentinel wasn’t a real prime. Primes are both elected and recognized by Primus, Sentinel was elected but never acknowledged this he was never a real Prime. Optimus was both elected and given the matrix because he earned it where Sentinel wasn’t .
