It was definitely a fun read for me! I loved that they were older (40-50s!) And that they played video games!

Im glad to be back! I did read River of Shadows and I liked the beginning of it but as soon as she went into the underworld, it felt like the plot was a little all over the place! I tried to read the 2nd book but i just couldnt get into it 😩 i was really bummed out about it because I was so excited for the Finnish myth aspect. I also think that maybe my expectations were too high for it! I was maybe expecting it to be more Finnish (and thus more nostalgic) than it was.

My dad is finnish and i grew up going to finland in the summers!! It's my home away from home 😊 the youtuber is anniina jalkanen! I also watch pipsa possu (peppa pig) in finnish. You can find a bunch of episodes on youtube!

@liminal.season I was excited to read it and I think there will be some people that really like the book, but I wasn't really enjoying the writing and decided to move on. I am trying to work on DNFing books that I am not liking. It's actually hard for me to DNF. Lol

Im very surprised too. I've been in a reading frenzy but i also feel like i want to slow down so i dont burn out / so i can really enjoy each book i read..... And i recommend the experiences! They're so fun to figure out and brings the book to life a little LMK if you end up doing any! And i hope the slump ends! It's never fun when you want to read but your mind and mood dont cooperate 🥺

Oh and my research is very sciencey! I was working on figuring out the relationships of cutthroat trout subspecies!

@@liminal.season ahah why are fish names always so quirky and interesting! I love it! Fun fact: in French, that species' name is basically "trout with makeup on" XD I find that hilarious - also a very different vibe from the English name.

@Curious-Cat oooh i LOVE that translation! The cutthroat trout are named cutthroat because they have that little red stripe across their "throats" so it's like they've been cut but the makeup sounds so fun and unique
