It's more than Amok Time though isn't it? It's played when Spock becomes emotional or struggles with feelings of love for someone else. It's played in the episode with the Romulan princess, where he has to dupe her for Kirk to steal the blanketing device, or on the hippy planet where he meets a woman he was once in love with. You can feel the struggle in the basslines.
