10 years too late with this comment, but I would put the responsibility of this mess almost entirely on the professor. I'm a teacher myself and have had annoying/infuriating, and sometimes outright rude students along the way. Of course they wouldn't be in the right, but I wouldn't see how that would justify my having an outburst like this man did. As the grown up with experience, the teacher has to try and find a better way of dealing with such situations. Even if the girl did something to distract him, he was completely in the wrong for shouting at her the way he did. Once anyone starts doing that, they deserve no respect. Kudos to the girl for standing her ground. For those making this a gender issue, whether you are a boy or a girl student, I think you should stand your ground - preferably politely, but can't imagine how anyone can stay polite when some explodes like this and comes charging at you. Everyone deserves respect till they prove with their actions that they deserve none.

whoever is ranting the director here, doesnt the girl's weird immediate response looks fishy? she had been warned already and yet she did it repeatedly. She would have the one who hates the director and doesnt respect him. The debate is not due to a single sided fault.

A simple "sorry" would've solved the problem, why was there a need to escalate the argument this much. Not to mention the other people showed mercy because the person who disrespected the speaker was a girl. If it was a boy, he would be suspended on spot or at least would get thrown out of the class. The behaviour of both parties were extremely unprofessional. It's like i was seeing children arguing and proving who has a bigger ego than other.
