I’ve been using your back plates and contacts for all the lights in my dollshouse - even for the bulbs behind fireplaces. Getting the grip contacts into the copper tape was probably the trickiest part but I definitely got better with practice (and a jig to space the holes correctly!) I think it is worth it, to be able to replace bulbs or lights easily. I recently visited a dollshouse exhibition and one of the things I noticed was the number of lights in the houses with bulbs not working. Not surprised - changing a small candle bulb in a chandelier which has been glued to the ceiling must be extremely difficult unless you are prepared to remove the flooring above etc. I’ve also found that the small candle bulbs are very fragile, and if a bulb is accidentally knocked, the wire prongs attaching the bulb to the light can snap away from the fitting, leaving no way of removing them to insert a new bulb. This happened to me, but because my light was plugged in using your backplate I was able to replace the entire light for a new one. So I’m hoping that by using your plug in system, my dollshouse lights can continue to be enjoyed for years to come. One thing…it is good to be able to hide the backplate using one of the special ceiling roses, but it would be ideal if you sold something similar for wall sconces? Especially for simple sconces where the backplate is more visible. I’ve managed to 3D print some small surrounds which are very plain but something in the Sue Cook style would be fantastic.

You were very helpful with finding me a specific discontinued fireplace /insert last year (thank you!) - the house got put on hold temporarily after that but I'm just getting back to it now and will be ordering your lighting control units and a flicker unit soon - this gadget will be so useful, too, so I'll add one of them.

hi David, just finished round wiring my Fairfield House !:24 and your video was so helpful. However I ran out of plugs on the strip and still have three lights to add. Can you tell me if I can add another strip without having to get another transformer or if there is another way

These are great videos, I am one of those people whose brain prefers visual, have just successfully lit 4 rooms following this series of videos, just another 5 rooms to go, absolutely brilliant. Have contacted the shop several times with questions regarding the products I needed when I wasn't sure I had made the right choices, living "down under" in New Zealand, and needing to post, great service, and with the excellent advice knowing that I had ordered the correct products first time around meant no long delays in having to re-order because I had chosen the wrong item/s. Your message to us: Hi David, I have just watched your video on splicing wire. Thanks. However, I have always found difficulty in twisting the strands of the exposed wire to form a single twisted section, e.g. to test connections are working. I discovered though that after using the wire cutters to break the plastic sleeve, if I pull it away only a little bit (rather than removing the unwanted plastic in one go) I can grip the sleeve much better to roll and start twisting the strands together. I can then slowly pull the unwanted sleeve, continuing to roll the unwanted section between thumb and finger until it is completely removed. The result is a really tightly rolled end to the wire with no loose strands :). You may already know this trick but I pass it on in case, in which case it is useful to pass on to other customers.

I have watched a few of these but my question is has anyone written a book on paper with instructions for wiring a dollhouse ? The last book I saw was dated 1975 to too outdated

I don't quite understand this, you say we can use as many wires as can be stuffed into each hole but I thought if bare wires touched they shorted out. Seems like a really neat little unit and I like the switches but so far I'm not understanding. Thank you.
