Actually, it's even worse than you think. All retail units, both Walmart and non-Walmart, have NES roms. The only difference is one game is different on the Walmart version. The only ones with arcade roms are a handful of review units that are not going to be released as a retail product. This is a bait and switch scam. Anyone who fell for this should return the POS to the retailer for refund. AtGames isn't going to do anything to make this right, but the retailers will get the message if they have a 50%+ return rate.
I completely agree with the rants, I bought a Genesis from AtGames and the sound quality was bad and the games were glitchy with slowdowns.They deserve to get exposed.
My 2cent speculation guess is that WalMart haggled the shit out of what they were going to Pay AtGames and AtGames had to downgrade the hardware inside to make a profit from the WalMart Versions. That is best case, Worst case is they made some Arcade Quality version simply to send to reviewers. In any case they should have printed the NES version pics on the packaging though and maybe add the label "Home Version" on the package. I still like the Atari Flashbacks but everything else they make is shit. They still have not cracked how to emulate Genesis Sound. in 2018.
