    Benefit of Ganondorf not reincarnating: he retains his memories, as opposed to Link and Zelda who remember nothing of previous lives.

      Funnily enough, the TP manga actually has that as a minor plot point. Zelda (apparently) retains some of the memories of her previous incarnations. Meaning that alongside the Hero's Shade (Link) and Ganondorf, you have a quasi-reunion of all three leads from Ocarina of Time in Twilight Princess.

      However, It is suggested a few times in the series that this is causing him to devolve in the two elements he is weaker in, less intelligence but way worse courage.
      Another explanation for why after 100 years his clones hadn't managed to destroy the souls of the champions? it's understandable that the goddess incarnate was undefeated in a fight against a god but the only one to ever stand a chance against a god as a mortal is Link. The blights should have completely annihilated the champions after killing them but failed to... still could be because of Zelda.

    Demise/Ganondorf are basically like Melkor and Sauron from LOTR. There's the "Evil incarnate" (Demise) created at the start of everything, and the Dark Lord who comes after (Ganon/Ganondorf). I think their entire existence (thematically) is to be the ontological evil force of the Zelda series.

    Point #2
    While we have NO IDEA about who the 7 Heroines were or why the 8th was erased from history, but the idea of 8 heroines with specific powers has me wondering. Will Nintendo make a Zelda game that resolves around such a plot device in a different way. The 8 heroines (not all of them Gerudos) being:
    - a Sheikah girl *(skill)*
    - a Gerudo *(spirit)*
    - a grownup version of Aryll *(endurance)* (note: there was a scrapped plot device of BOTW Link having a little sister, though the name was never known)
    - Farore (Oracle) *(knowledge)*
    - Malon *(flight)* (considering her design was based from Marin, who wished to become a seagull to fly around and sing to the people of the world beyond Koholint)
    - Din (Oracle) *(motion)*
    - Nayru (Oracle) *(gentleness)*
    - Zelda *(all of the powers in one)*
    All of the powers turned out to be shards of the fragmented Triforce of Power, taking place in an era long after Ganondorf’s defeat. Think for a moment, the Triforce of Courage was broken into 8 shards, the Triforce of Wisdom was broken into 8 shards. The Triforce of Power was not fragmented. Should it ever, the shards are given to 7 maidens, each with a specific power, while Zelda has the top tip shard which contains all of the individual powers combined. With it and the Triforce of Wisdom, she’s the most powerful of the maidens.
    Just a speculative idea for a future Zelda title in any shape or form.

    The Eighth Heroine being the hand that sealed Ganondorf is an amazing theory and it makes sense. We don't know much about this character and then there is the mysterious Zonai who have vanished from history.
    There are so many theories out there and now this one is on my radar.

      @Aluandale ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Going off the "innocent Gannondorf" theory here and the Tears trailer with Ganondorf and (potentially) Demise; it would kind of add up.
      First we get our big bad back; the man, the myth, the literal legend: Ganondorf. He does his usual takeover but something - someone - unexpected happens: Demise has broken free of HIS seal as well.
      Ganondorf sides with Link and zelda after losing control of what he considered "his army" a only to find out that *HE* was the puppet all along - strings being pulled by a god he knew nothing of - taken aback and angry; he wants Hyrule for himself. He's not going to share it with someone who merely wants to destroy it in its entirety.
      I mean; I'm not entirely sure how I feel for redemption for Ganondorf after everything he has done (or caused), but we did see his humanity/reflective side in WW.

    notice the way the sheikah are shown to be running on the tapestry: running flat and then above and below a constellation. This could be referring to how kakariko is in the mountains while the Yiga live in a cave but I think this goes further DEEPER, remember two infinite pits in BotW? behind the Yiga and beside the entrance to their compound. Possibly connect to the cave system we will be exploring in TotK so this might indicate that the sheikah have or had a functioning society underground. It would be cool to see it still barely holding on after the recent shutdown of the sheikah tech, with their batteries slowly running out threatening their way of life with maybe a quest to secure them safe passage back to the surface.

  • @johnlucas1543
    @johnlucas1543 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    About that Breath of the Wild tapestry...I am VERY surprised that more people are not alarmed that Link has RED hair!
    Link DOES NOT have Red Hair. There's only one group (maybe two) that is known for that trait.
    Those 8 foot tall wielders of mega-abs: The Gerudo! The Gerudo's red hair comes from their progenitor Groose of Skyloft.
    Link's hair goes from blonde yellow to light brown or auburn brown at best. NEVER Red.
    PLUS Link never has a beard. But I know one person who does. That good ol' Gerudo King Ganondorf.
    So I think Tears of the Kingdom will explain why that ancient Link looks the way he does in that tapestry.
    They finally found a way to have a lasting peace against the ever-resurrecting Ganon & what happened to tapestry Link is a part of that grand master plan. If the Master Sword is the barrier between Ganon's win, then take out the sword at its source.
    Take out the arm that wields it & ruin that sword. May 12th, let's go!! We can't wait no more, Nintendo. Gotta play this game!

    @Drakenwild ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Okay, so, I've never noticed Ganondorf's clothing in TotK trailers but you are SO right. It wasn't a fight, he was taken by surprise. Maybe the hand belongs to a Zonai, like people originally thought, but its owner conspired with Gerudo Heroines to bring Ganondorf down... and the eight heroine might have been the one who tried to stop him and that's why she was cast out of memory, together with Ganondorf himself, while the rest were remembered as heroes. It is notable that Yiga, who openly support Ganon, also have heroine figures in their base but they have the set of all eight rather than seven. Granted, it looks like they've overtaken an old Gerudo structure rather than carve them themselves.

  • @Glamuel
    @Glamuel ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The idea of Din creating the Demon tribe/evil while creating the Earth is very interesting, and something I’ve thought a lot about. It could be possible the evil is the “chaos” mentioned in OoT as well, before the world was created, and Din’s red earth was built over that chaos.
    In general, the Golden Goddesses seem to be morally neutral rather than strictly good or evil. Perhaps the “evil” is a part of a balance. Maybe the goddesses see the “demons” as necessary. Eastern religions that inspire TLOZ seem to in general place importance on balance in the world rather than good ruling over evil. It’s unclear how much power the goddesses have, they seem to rarely intervene in mortal affairs, only in desperate situations. Perhaps the eternal struggle between good and evil is something the goddesses believe is necessary. Maybe achieving a balance is what’s needed to end Demise’s Curse. Or, a scarier possibility is that the goddesses just don’t care about mortals. We’ve seen the powers of the goddesses used for good and evil throughout the series (Din’s Fire in OOT).
    (Also, awesome music choices! Face Shrine and Lanayru Mining Facility are underrated)

    The idea of an innocent Gannon. Groose was an asshat but he was redeemed. The different personality of Gannon in windwaker. There's something there.
    He's tired of it. Gannon is tired of demise. It's gonna take link , Zelda, and Gannon to stop demise. I think tears is the end of the curse/cycle.
    And I know the developers are absolutely tired of timeline crap. That's why breath is 20,000 plus years in the future. It lets them obi wan hand wave all the old games. Beyond ancient history.
    Also, Majora and zonai are connected. The figure looks just like Majora's mask in the face. Those diamond slanted eyes.

What if the ancient king said to throw away sheika tech because they realized it could be possessed next calamity now that Ganon knew about it and it ran off a similar power source so malice was an acceptable replacement? That would explain the sudden turn about and why those that wanted to keep the tech serve Ganon, cause the tech was viewed as a tool for him now.

    Ganondorf might just be the constant product of raising the only male to a position of power in the way that the Gerudo tended to do, maybe he is just the inevitable product of greed towards the nation of the Goddess' chose or it could be that just like the Triforce indicates, their world is one of balance. Oh so greater the Courage, oh so greater the Wisdom, Power and oh so stronger the Light so too will the darkness grow.

    The question of who created what is always so interesting to me, cause from what we learned in OoT was "din, with her powerful arms, cultivated the land and sculpted the red earth. Naryu, gave spirit of law unto the land, and Farore breathed life onto the land, creating creatures to uphold the law" but other than the order of speaking, there's no confirmed timeline as to who did what, when?
    So it could be any of the goddess that made the "demons" trapped in the earth. Din made the earth, but Farore supposedly made the life forms on the earth, but Naryu is the one who, in my mind, created the concepts of "good" and "evil" when she created "the law of the land", it also makes me think Naryu is to, for lack of a better word "blame" for this. The royal family of Hyrule is often very closely related to Naryu as Zelda always get the Wisdom piece, and the royal family is the one to make the laws of the hylians and other tribes, the way Naryu would have over Din or Farore's creations, directly or indirectly depending on who made what first.

    I love to sing and used to play the piano, read and wrote musical note before my mother language and that music theory has a little bit of weight but more in symbolism then it really being the same theme:
    the same kind of situation as with A link to the Past's Dark World is kind of playing out from what we have seen of the trailer. Hyrule has fallen, Link is defeated, Zelda missing BUT unlike the Dark World there is a lot more hope. Link was out of allies who could help him in the Dark World, battling a complete world out to kill him and I would say that is suggested in those first few notes. The more upbeat timing and octave of that intro highlights that the situation is no where near as bleak.
    As for the depth of the composition that is just the difference between what a console was able to reproduce in 1991 and now.

    so what if they were not blights as we know them now but instead sentient Guardians. Gannondorf later slowly corrupted them while they were left sleeping inside the Divine Beasts creating the Blights.
    This also fits quite well with my theory that Gannondorf is being siphoned as the power source since it would explain the Guardian parts which only the blights have.

    the no shortcut theory... sure you still have to face all of the bosses but you don't have to do any of the puzzling or fight most of the calamity's army spread across the lands. It's very much a shortcut. Also I think most people agree that the key to Zelda's power was love, meaning all of that praying etc WAS the shortcut it just wasn't working for this incarnation of Zelda. On the other hand her travelling around to visit Sheikah ruins in her research led to her falling for Link and Gannondorf attacked right when Mipha was going to give her the clue which would have prevented him from using the Sheikah tech against them. (since she would have countered it with her powers)

      But Liam, you’re ignoring the fact that it was her 17th birthday and she had also just visited the spring of courage. I think Monster Maze said it best. Zelda finally had to courage to put herself in danger. It unlocked her sealing powers. I don’t think it was love at all. Thinking it was love is kinda the Hollywood approach to looking at the story. There are so many other variables.

    Honestly my main wish for tears of the kingdom in terms of Ganondorf's character is for him to be both innocent and guilty. Both the Victim and the Perpetrator. And the reason I want it to be this way is because in a way Ganondorf's story is strikingly similar to the story of a separate character in a story not many would imagine when thinking of the legend of Zelda. . . . . . . .
    With that in mind, I'll reveal the story here by asking the question of. . . . Am I the only one who thinks of Paul Attreides from Frank Herberts D U N E? Think about it for a sec now before dismissing it. A character moving into the future seeing visions of his fate and yet being unable to change it because of fear for the destruction of who they are. Both are people who are influenced by the hand of fate to be either directly or indirectly responsible for horrible atrocities. I'd be interested in a detailed talk about the parallels between Paul Attreides and Ganondorf.

    What an interesting theory!!! I still personally think that the green hand is somehow connected to Hylia, but I definitely agree that Ganondorf is being held there between life and death. I think that the royal family are the ones who imprisoned him like that, hoping that if they keep him teetering on the edge of death but still technically alive, they were hoping that another reincarnation wouldn't be born. So that somehow caused a build up of malice, leading to whatever stuff is going down in TOTK. But that's just my thoughts!!
    Great video as per usual, I always look forward to hearing your ideas! 💙💚

    Huh...based on phrasing both in English and Japanese translations, only the original Zelda was a reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia. It's her bloodline after this which is important. Link is the one stuck constantly reincarnating. If you have the blood of the Goddess in your veins, you are so hosed. Besides, what would have happened if Ganondorf had unwisely chosen to wreak havok at a time when there are two to three Zeldas around...daughter, mother, grandmother? The Goddess could have herself reincarnated as a mortal, but I don't think she has the power to duplicate herself...and her power...in such a fashion, in three separate bodies, with three separate identities. The only time this has come up with Link was when he was battling...what was it? The ghost or shadow of the Hero? That link was his descendant and it creates a bit of an issue, but it's also been proven that when the spirit of Link isn't around, any kid who can prove himself worthy can take up the mantle in a pinch (Say, Windwaker, anyone?). Seems to me there is a seldom seen scene in there that indicates that the Link in the game does not possess the soul of the Hero, but he has qualities that pass the test (and boy did he have to prove it), so he's able to wield the Master Sword.
    Now that leaves our good 'ole Raisindorf. I've seen suggestions that he does not always appear in Ganondorf form, and that Demise's hatred has appeared in other incarnations, such as the baddie in _Spirit Tracks._ Not much proof of that, though.

    Quick question could OOT be another reset of the cycle? And the split in time could be three separate new cycles? I understand the other timelines, but if OOT was the last reset we don’t get any real definitive conclusion the the cycle in any timeline before BOTW. Could this game also play into a new cycle of new games?

    Idk.. it’s pretty obvious the shiekah knew about the being on the wall carving which imo is the owner of the hand because the shiekah tried replicating it’s power using the shiekah slate.
    The being was powerful enough to seal ganondorf so the shiekah replicated its power and made the slate and guardians to fight the calamity 10k years ago. The hand sealed ganondorf long before 10k years ago

      @@MoxieWatts That's a pretty weak reason. I can understand the Demise speech to an extent (even though it says the same thing minus mentioning the demon tribe's curse which he actually equates to his own hatred), but the rest says literally the exact same thing. It's completely unnecessary and it does nothing.
      _It would be negligent to not include it_
      LMAO, in what way is it negligent XD? You *know* it says the same thing. Therefore, there is no reason to use it. To be honest, it seems like you're trying to be fancy, but whatever. Point is that there's zero reason to use it unless it says otherwise.

    The story on the betrayal of the Eighth Heroine is very interesting! It springs to mind an old idea I had...the weird kind you'd have just before falling asleep, that perhaps didn't really make much sense...about what would happen if Ganondorf was subverted from that hatred before it could be awakened in him, and with the knowledge that the rest of Hyrule would help him battle this terrible darkness before it could take control of him entirely, he could evict and they could seal away and destroy it, and he could go on to live the rest of his life in peace and in the interests of his people. It might not stop the curse from arising again in some different lifetime, especially if it were not a male Gerudo, but it would show that the Demise-Hatred-infected person could be saved from it, if they became more aware of themselves as a separate person first and decide they didn't want it. It might not always work-power is an overwhelming allure for even the most normal person-but it is always worth a shot.
    The downside of all this is that the Hatred is cunning enough to find a way to make it harder to detect in someone after the first few tries. Nothing is ever that eternally easy.
