At least they used toothpicks the buffet in Nashua NH used single ply toilet tissue I think? Good part is when you got the food in you had the paper when it shoot out you just as qck if not qcker than going in lol
i use to work at a retirement home for old people and i was a dishwasher there and we had buffet there every sunday it looked ok but the kitchen was bad very bad and we clean once a mouth but when everything changed nobody cared anymore they were always busy or didn't have time or didn't want to do it and it was a shame

Check out the restroom. It's a good indicator of the kitchen. Also sanitize your hands after going to the buffet and your utensils. You don't know where those hands have been before they touched the tongs.

Some places replace the entire tub, and others just dump on top of the old.. if it's a shallow pan the likeliness of getting old food is low among other things.

My favorite buffet supplies disposable plastic gloves right next to the clean plates and clean utensils. I think it should be a requirement everywhere.
Here in Iowa it's actually illegal to return to the buffet with the same plate, you have to use a new one, not sure if it's like that in all states but it certainly is here in Iowa

I heard the microwave ding then she was out shortly after. I went over a put 2 pieces on a little plate. I spit it back onto the plate. It was very nasty. There is never more then 5 vehicles in the parking lot. Is a shame they don't care enough.
Also, when you sit down they might try to give you an NFL football sized baked potato. Don't eat it. If someone in your group has a pretty big purse, maybe you could sneak a couple of them home to reheat later.
The sad reality about that first fact about no staff is that often there are great efforts with trying to get more ppl on the floor, but it's usually the penny pincher owners or upper management that will force the number to be lower, if they see it working functionally with more than 2 ppl at a busy buffet station often they'll complain they're overstaffed and will cut hours or employees.
If it says “Golden Corral” on the outside. That would be your first clue…. I always look at it like this because I love buffets. You get what you pay for. If you’re at a 10.99 all you can eat…we’ll, god be with you.
The food runner have’s to have a eye on who the food looks smell and that the food still have color and fresh .a chef food is made fresh with great ingredients and flavor and tastes to bring the people back.someone needs to be there to make sure everyone gets clean plates,and who they get there food. You have to look before going to eat.

Four Seasons Bangkok Sunday buffet is by the the best quality and best value I have ever experienced. The widest possible array of dishes and unlimited drinks for USD150. The food is top quality - the hotel restaurants all close and provide a buffet service instead - the environment is relaxing. I could not recommend it more.
The best yet most expensive buffet I've ever had the Nordic lodge Rhode island a viking seafood dinner of Maine ,northeast Canadian lobster and Alaskan crab plus everything else you cld think of. last time I went it was under $85 now its $130+ due to recent changes in health it is no longer a viable option at the current rate
@@BabbleTop it was ran across another lobster crab buffet in Orlando Florida(2004) hotel had a coupon for like $8 of per person up to a party of 10 and their regular price was like $30 our family of 4 killed them 14 lobsters 1person didn't like that much seafood but for $20 they still ate good where as the rest of us made up 4 them lol and the other ok buffet I've had was at the foxwood casino CT (it was free with round trip bus ticket day tour or $15 to use at most restuarants (reg price was like $28 around 2010-2015 ) ) that was a great cple of yrs getting to be a part of those trips (had other goodies too $5 qck pick keno and $5 match bj ,roulette ,craps,) lived 100miles away all that for $40 a round trip ticket
I don't believe there is such a thing as a good buffet. Except for one: the Wicked Spoon in Las Vegas; that is excellent, everything is fresh and tasty.
A couple points are not true. Sizzler had a ecoli breakout and filed bankruptcy. A lot of stores closed. I wouldn’t say they are trustworthy as a good buffet. Also, I have worked at buffets and ate at several in Las Vegas and around the country. You ha e to get your own plate. Also, the tongs do not get replaced unless they have food stuck to them or fall in the floor.
Most buffets have been closed down in South Australia due to the pandemic. Also, a buffet that we liked started going downhill and they were suddenly closed because there were more rats than customers.
All buffets are gross. You have all those strangers touching the same serving utensils. No one is required to wash their hands prior to preparing a plate. The food is usually bad that’s why it’s so cheap.
In San Diego, all buffets but Chinese are a thing of the past due to the pandemic. Even some pretty fantastic casino buffets. They won't be back, the space was converted. And Souplantation, if you know it, gone for good.

I just want to add the comment about Vegas buffets. My mom and I go to Vegas every year and I can def say not all Vegas buffets are amazing either. We went the famous Luxor hotel buffet last year and it was sub par at best, a stark contrast to the amazing one in the Excalibur Hotel. I clicked this video to see what to look out for as we’re going again this late august and will be trying new buffets. Even the high end places aren’t always on it
Not sure what sushi buffets he's been to but the ones around me have a very large variety of sushi, sashimi, snd do your own poke bowls. They don't use whatever that premade mold is. You see them behind the counter making new rolls constantly the traditional way. Yes, there are bad sushi buffets and those are usually Chinese buffets. Most of the Japanese buffets are of better quality. At least in my experience in my area.
Heres my beef. YOU ARE AT A BUFFET. If you want gourmet. go to a real restaurant. You go to a buffet because its a feeding trough with no limit. Quality is NOT what you are there for in the first place. You want cuisine, go to a real restaurant.

The worst buffet I was at was located in Niagara Falls. They had no labels on the food items, no sneeze guards, and you had to pay just for water.
