    Dude, you might have saved me! I’m looking to build something like this to allow me to click with my feet to take the stress off my hand - I’m recovering from a super debilitating repetitive strain injury and with this I might be able to get back to work sooner than I thought, that would be huge!!!
    I can solder alright but I’m a bit clueless about electronics, maybe you can help me.
    My question is: can I use more or less any button for this or do I need to pay real attention to some attributes? I see the button you used is for DC 12V - do I have to find a suitable button with exactly those specs?
    Thanks so much for the video!

      Hey you can use any type of momentary switching button. For instance you could use an arcade button but for your situation I would see if I could find a stomper button. Maybe a guitar pedal type button or sewing machine pedal.

      If you need anymore help let me know, I’d be willing to help ya get it figured out! I could even make detailed video if you want. 👍🏼

      You could put them on a board like this and just plug both mouses in. Use one for the buttons at your feet and use the other for you to control the movement on the desk.

      @@HandBuilt yeah, i ended up just buying some usb-pedals and then modified and combined them into a board, that was easier than building them from scratch with injured hands :D i'm still optimizing but it's been serving me rather well - thanks for your kind input! :)

      @@maxpower7916 so glad it worked out for you! If you take any photos of the setup link them here. I’d be interested in how you set it up and it may help others

    If you plugged into a usb charger then into the wall, would it work as an on/off switch?

    • @HandBuilt
      @HandBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cnd, No that wouldn’t work this is just a mouse click button. You can find usb on off buttons here that do what you want to do. amzn.to/3v8JoKg

    hi, will the added button be its one keybind and can i use it for a handbreak?

    • @HandBuilt
      @HandBuilt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry, MrSkitz I don’t completely understand your question. It basically adds a secondary button for whichever switch you solder it to. The mouse keeps full functionality.

    Hi, I want to do the same thing as you and make a button for a picture maker. Did you write the code yourself for the software? Which language did you use? I want to write something, probably in Java, but haven't made it yet.

      I use rightbooth.com for the photobooth software.

      @@HandBuilt the red and white wires that you solder, what are they?

    • @HandBuilt
      @HandBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sheilavp8566 ohh they are coming from the button. You can use any color you would like. I just used what I had on hand. Polarity doesn’t matter they are the contacts on the button. The buttons either between the positive or negative connection. Depends on how they made the mouse. So you are basically adding another button that acts just like the mouse button. Hope this helps

    Is there any importance about the red and white wire placement i mean can they be inverted and still working? I want to make this instructables for a disable friend here : www.instructables.com/foot-operated-computer-mouse/
    Also what would be a good switch to use with foot press?

    • @HandBuilt
      @HandBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter, the red and white wires can be interchanged and it will still work. I think a good choice in switch would be: amzn.to/3ppqoDW
      or this one: amzn.to/3t50hEr
      Good luck! let me know how it goes!

      solder them to the Com(ground) pin and the NO (normally open) pins.
