I believe, a full training camp and preseason as the starting QB will be huge for Michael Penix Jr. He'll get valuable reps with the first team and a deeper understanding of the offense. The flashes we've seen are promising, and Dave Archer's analysis of his decision-making adds to the excitement.
Let's be honest, if Kirk Cousins hadn't declined, we wouldn't be having this conversation. But that decline, along with Matt Ryan's late-career struggles, highlights the need for a quarterback with zip on the ball. Penix has that, and it's a major plus.
It should be a fascinating offseason for the Falcons. Penix has the potential to be special, and a full offseason to develop could be the key to unlocking that potential.

Also felt like the defensive gameplay was tank-ish. Why on earth would we go away from the blitzes we did the week before? I was like if we sacked daniels a bunch we were gonna sack Bryce young 10 times

Penix if not for the drops would be way more accurate

I understand your critiques of Michael Penix Jr. I see where you're coming from. From the outside looking in (I'm a Jets fan who actually thought Atlanta made a genius move drafting Penix while you guys were crying about drafting him at all) MPJ hardly got any reps at all. You guys shut him down during the preseason. He didn't get any reps with any of the starters until you decided to start him the last 3 games. Take away the Giants game, your offense averaged over 3O points. You were in the Washington game all the way to the end. You were in the Carolina game all the way to the end. Imagine a full offseason of reps. Imagine a full preseason of reps. Your future is bright as hell, at least on the offensive side of the ball. You guys still skeptical of Penix? Give him to us. MPJ is the truth. You guys will never be out of a game with him at QB.

I guess so remember It's only three games the question for him is can he stay healthy then we might have something. That's the biggest knock right now

If the offense is going to play better vs better defenses lets not forget the off line. Pass protect and run block. Falcons always struggle vs better defenses . Upgrades needed o line also. Def line, linebackers, def backs..4 yrs with Fontenot we still have the same holes other than the glamour positions.

Are the Falcons really going to keep Lake at Def coordinator? Still no sign of him stepping down. Somebody has a screw loose if he keeps his job. Took how long to make adjustments and finally the defense showed a pass rush. Last game when Falcs still had a chance to make playoffs give up over 40 points with no pass rush. How in the world does this man keep his job. Fans see he is the problem. How can Falcon management not see it? Do they have blinders on?

Like makeup on a pig. Sick of seeing and listening to Morris or Fontenot. Sick of losers running my team, sick of losing records. Falcons fan since the 70's so I've seen the good and bad and we are bad at the top right now. Hated bringing Morris back but hoped for best. Another year of "Oh well".

Go ask Trevor Lawrence or Justin Herbert about having a bad HC or even Peyton Manning and how they had to get rid of Jom Mora Sr.
Point being is this franchise will be stunted as long as Raheem is the HC you cannot fix his lack of preparation and lack of player development all Penix will di is give Raheem and Terry a stay of execution and allow the sycophants to remain around Arthur Blank just as long as they can give their slogans and pregame hype speeches.

I saw no evidence that Penix will be any better than Ridder or Cousins. He misses a lot of open throws, I'm not impressed with his accuracy at all. The Falcons would have been better off giving Taylor Heinicke a legitimate shot as the starting QB.

@@thewin4life You're the same idiot who probably thought that Cousins would be better than Ridder or Heinicke....and he wasn't. There is a good chance that Penix will never be as good as Heinicke. Heinicke has a career W/L record of 13 - 15 - 1. Penix is not going to do any better than that. He is already 1 - 2 as a starting QB.
