    Good stuff. I think even quicker would be to drag each audio clip over each other into one lane and use the ctrl + j command to combine them. Then you can also access each clip via the comping mode like you did. Saves you the recording each drumloop into a new lane.

    One thing I didn't mention is that you can also process the individual loops before you print them down to lanes, which is a definite advantage over just dragging the raw/unprocessed loops directly onto take lanes in Live. You could also use this method to record alts of randomised effects like Glitch/Stutter/Infiltrator/Effectrix/etc. and then pick out the parts that you like. Same would be true of anything generative or random!

    I can't believe this works. I've been cutting these apache patches in mimic that take so long to set up. This is cool for vocal chops too. I've never used comp edit before this. I assumed it was only for vocal takes.

      Same! Until literally like, a day ago. Hugely powerful tool. Also remember you can slide takes around at the current snap value so you can offset individual loops (or cut out a beat of the master audio file) and shuffle a loop fragment back or forwards by 1/8, 1/4, whatever you want. Just click and drag on the take lane to create awesome displaced grooves.

    Very slick trick! BTW if your loops are already stretched to the appropriate bars you can open comp edit on one loop and then drag and drop other loops from the browser right into the comp edit area instead of doing the record mute solo part.
    Love those breaks you used! Sample pack? 🙂

    • @PaulOrtiz
      @PaulOrtiz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah yeah someone did mention in a comment that the recording wouldn't be necessary if you could stretch samples in the comp lanes and I didn't get the relevance. So you *can* drag audio direct to comp lanes in Reason? I never thought to try/assumed you couldn't!
      Sample pack is Blue Mar Ten Jungle Jungle :)

    • @MrMarcLaflamme
      @MrMarcLaflamme ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaulOrtiz ahh classic pack! Yeah I just tested it before commenting and you can drag into comp edit area and it makes a new comp but you can’t stretch in comp edit so the loops have to be pre-stretched.

    • @PaulOrtiz
      @PaulOrtiz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrMarcLaflamme so maybe a quicker solution is stretch, bounce to samples, drop samples in! I’d still use the recording method for some things like, running a random glitch/beat slicing effect for a few passes then picking which ones I want in different places. But thanks so much for that! Great tip.

    • @MrMarcLaflamme
      @MrMarcLaflamme ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaulOrtiz oh yeah if you’re going to be doing real time fx stuff definitely the other way is better. And hey you started it! I only thought hey, I wonder? And it worked!
