I would just like to gush over how much effort goes into the animation for dynamic camera work for an opening alone. I cannot even begin to imagine how much work work went into doing all this constant panning and tracking, it's genuinely amazing. This is one of the highest effort openings I've ever watched and to this day almost nothing has ever managed to top it
Can we also appreciate that almost *everything* in this OP is actually animated? Even many the backgrounds were actually drawn and animated, instead of being static, bringing much dynamism and action vibes to it!

Agreed, I feel they did that really good. Their moments and the way they look at each other or just know what they are thinking by looking at each other. Willing to die to protect each other, I always got soulmate vibes from them. They have so many moments showcasing their amazing compatibility, definitely my favorite pairing by miles. Always wanted a relationship confirmation but countless implications were definitely there

Fun fact, this opening was solo animated by Yasuhiro Irie, who's the director of FMAB. He also did image board on Cowboy Bebop ep 20 Mad Pierrot, giving us this unique creepy atmosphere with attraction park and all. This Soul Eater OP1 is quite the prowess, not only because of the so cool storyboard and character acting, but this endless background animation and breathtaking perspectives is something that even great animators find amazingly hard to draw in such a consistent way. The music being so good too, it's one of my favorite opening so I wanted to give credit to the man who made it. Ty for reading!

7 years ago a very crazy friend of mine in 7th grade introduced me to Soul Eater by letting me borrow a copy of Vol. 1. (Thank you Daisy!) Probably one of the most important little events of my entire life. After reading it I would watch this opening over and over and I thought it was one of the coolest things ever made. The Second I heard this opening I knew it was going to be my favorite anime. Ever. And it proved itself. FOOL!
Fun fact, this opening was solo animated by Yasuhiro Irie, who's the director of FMAB. He also did image board on Cowboy Bebop ep 20 Mad Pierrot, giving us this unique creepy atmosphere with attraction park and all.
This Soul Eater OP1 is quite the prowess, not only because of the so cool storyboard and character acting, but this endless background animation and breathtaking perspectives is something that even great animators find amazingly hard to draw in such a consistent way.
The music being so good too, it's one of my favorite opening so I wanted to give credit to the man who made it. Ty for reading!

@@angelkade jeez, I'm curious how long that took. That's amazing. I first watched the show when I was 12 I think, and it was one of my first anime. This intro blew my mind back then, and still does to this day. Soul Eater is one of those shows that inspired me to get into animation.

7 years ago a very crazy friend of mine in 7th grade introduced me to Soul Eater by letting me borrow a copy of Vol. 1. (Thank you Daisy!) Probably one of the most important little events of my entire life. After reading it I would watch this opening over and over and I thought it was one of the coolest things ever made. Nearly a decade later and honestly I still think that.
