- This is definitely a series that improved completely with the sequel while I personally felt that the first game was just alright I guess. The sequel really just blows it out of the water, but the boss fights in the first game are still extremely fun to play.
Synopsis: Zone of the Enders HD Collection is an Action video game collection featuring two games from Hideo Kojima's, Zone of the Enders series. Originally developed for PlayStation 2 in 2001 and 2003 respectively, the included games - Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner - are remastered in high-definition, and feature an engrossing story based in humanity's expansion into space and the conflicts that result. Features include: the full classic games, dramatic and action-oriented flying/floating mecha (robot anime) combat, new opening animations, Playstation trophy support, and a demo for the upcoming 2013 Konami release, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. i still remember the first time you get to use "zero shift", and just how unmatched and powerful you become
This is one of the few games that lets you feel how unmatched you were until the final boss. That pilot against pilot moment is second to none. You knew it was do or die.

How are there like no mech games with combat as smooth and stylish as these (maybe armored core? It doesn't have the feeling of ZOE though)
@@mr.b89 daemon x machina is pretty close from what ive seen but it doesnt have that old anime charm these two games have as well as the high intensity fast paced battles
@@rinnnnnnnnnnrin I've played a little bit of it but it hasn't grabbed me as much as AC and ZOE. It's hard being a mecha game fan these days. Hopefully the AC6 rumors pan out with Elden Ring's insane success..

@@GalaxyStandard77 You're right, AC and ZOE have very different gameplay but I was mainly referring to a general feeling I get when I play both. I'm honestly not really sure how to describe it outside of both of them having that old club techno playing while moving comically fast in the mechs
It's kinda sad that metal gear overshadows this series. I don't mind metal gear but I definatly enjoy this series allot more.

It was a pretty decent series. Awful voice acting and abysmal story. Gameplay was pretty fun.
CptLvl I do agree the story was beyond basic. But I found it that it did it was meant to do. Still that doesn’t mean it was great. But the gameplay. That is by far the best thing these games have to offer.
My first ever experience with z.o.e was when I was checking out my uncles old PlayStation games. He had this gigantic box that held all his games like silent hill and mgs. And I just randomly selected zone of the Enders 2 out of all of them. I completed my play through of the game about a year ago. I was also playing mgs3 alongside my play through of the second runner. Both those games are something I will never forget. The amount of joy and fun I had while playing those games is something I just can’t put into words personally. Most games today are just following what’s trending when they are developed and are just the exact same every year having no originality or care put into them. I wish Konami would just go back to what it used to be...

Usually an opening to a game before the title screen is like 30 seconds to a minute and a half. This is nearly 7 minutes so you know it’s good.

This opening gave me a good dose of nostalgia. I remember ZOE2 was like wetdream for every middle school kid who was kinda into giant robots or gundam. Once you get that bigass cannon near the end to blow up the whole air battalion, or when you can throw Frieza-esq energy bombs at robots at any time, that's next level. Also, this intro sequence is definitely Kojima level long lol. 6 minute intro anime holy shit

@@stephenbyrne2170 Runner is another way of saying Pilot or more accurately an "Operator".
Considering this takes more steps than just moving controls around. You would be considered a runner like an active operator "running" a program. Since the Orbital Frame (Jehuty) uses an artificial intelligence to make the mech function properly that means you would need to know how technology works.

Can Bandai just make model kits of Jehuty and Anubis already?!?!? The Kotobukiya ones are not bad, but I feel like Bandai would give them the Gunpla level of engineering that is going on with their new kits. Full Metal Panic is an example of non-Gundam model kits that are amazing

I remember the final boss in the second game was supeeeeer haaaaaard to beat, it took me like 4 hours and i was playing on Normal.
But manage to platinum the game in the end.

The original release of 2nd Runner was a critical success, you'd think that's reason enough to release a part 3.

I was always puzzled by that. Chalk it up to post-2000's anime being nothing but waifu merchandising. None of that crap she was doing had anything to do with the plot in the game itself. No naked spinning, no magic orbs, nothing. She herself had a very small part in the story outside of being an obligatory forced love interest. You coulda pretty much removed her entirely and replaced her with a generic soldier and nothing in the story would have changed for worse.

Jehuthy and Anubis are indeed beautiful Mecha designs. But I feel the Vic Viper design is under rated. And of course, a great homage to Gradius and Macross.
It had a very epic final boss battle that felt like u where on equal terms (well int the second runner I mean first one pretty much kick your ass)

Somehow this intro mixed with the ending of the 2nd runner made it seem like the conclusion of a 10 game series. The end of the 2nd runner was so epic it makes your forget it's essentially a two game series(with a few spin offs)
The fact his life is tethered to that Ender is just too much... it made the 2nd ZoE that much more critical in every scenario when faced against the odds... it was incredible... I love this game so much its just unreal how not one team has remastered this with an update of some kind... it's not fair... ❤❤❤

Still love this game my favorite part was taking down those ships in the sky the music to me made it feel epic especially when you fire the cannon just right and my favorite sub weapon was the missile blades

So, I had the pleasure of playing through the HD Collection of Z.O.E. several months ago. Absolutely loved it, but could see how other games outshone the release of the original titles. Between the first and second games, I think I preferred the way the second one played over the first. Furthermore, I think the 2D cutscenes were better made than the 3D cutscenes in the first game. I appreciate the overall story in both games, but I have to agree with others that the dialogue is laughably terrible. If there were ever plans to continue this series in the future, I think I would like to see a total remake of them first that would give the story and dialogue justice. Once the quality of the story is elevated, and assuming that the games are properly promoted and advertised at big events, then I would entertain the idea of a third game. However, if indeed there ever were to be a remake, and the story and dialogue were properly done, then it may be best to leave it as a duology. Given how the second game ends, I'm not sure how much further they could expand upon the idea.

This was because the sales of the second game were lower than the first, and it became difficult to propose plans for the third game to the company.However, remastered versions and Orbital Frame figures are still being released for some fans.
