"1 of 1" is one of my favorite eras from SHINee. The album was GOLD, and all the content we got was GOLD as well., even the teaser were the members select their "1 of 1 " , lol Key 1 of 1 was Minho lol. The title track from the repack album is "Tell me what to do" thats is a great song as well and it does have MV, so hopefully you react to it.
"I want you" is hard to explain, there a dose of emotional side for shawols and the members. People in the comment section already explained about the trilogy, so I hope you read the lyrics of this song. And when you reac to "Good evening" and "Our page" PLEASE read the lyrics before, during or after you watch the MV, I think you will understand better that way.
Right now I'm soooo happy because Onew got his first solo concert , and on Monday we will get his new album ( even if we did not get "BLUE" live performance again... , but yeah we understand he probably not ready). A lot of his family and friends were there and even Jonghyn mom and sister that always there to support the boys, specially Onew ( I think they have a special soft spot for onew just like his members and friends, Sodam-Jong sister, go to a lot, if not all Onew solo activities)

Not to be a downer but when I first heard this song I was happy and sad especially when you see the fox. But I am glad you love Shinee. Shinee was one of the first kpop groups I got into, with Super Junior, 2pm and Big Bang. I hope you keep supporting them.

"I Want You" is the second music video from a series of albums released in 2018 collectively called The Story of Light. The albums' concepts and lyrics explore the SHINee boys' journeys following Jongyun's loss and are heavily influenced by their grief and healing process. The album was already in production when Jonghyun passed but after what happened, SHINee made adjustments to it and used it plus their 10 year anniversary concert as a way to help process their grief and band together as a group.
"Good Evening" is the first MV/title track and is largely about them drawing close to each other and relying on each other to get through their pain and anger at the situation. Next in the "I Want You" MV, the boys are finding joy in their memories of each other and Jonghyun, able to remember without it being too painful but also longing for each other, wishing to see him even if only in their dreams. Notice the fox in the beginning of this MV? That fox is also in the "Good Evening" MV and is on the cover for all the Story of Light albums plus the repackage. The fox is from one of Jonghyun's favorite children's stories called "The Little Prince". The next title/MV is "Our Page". This was written by the SHINee boys. While the other two songs are more metaphorical, this title track is a direct letter to Jonghyun, their loss, their emotions after what happened, their legacy, and their brotherhood.
These three EP albums for TSOL were then repackaged as 1 LP album lead with a 4th and final MV for the project called "Countless" which is focused on the boys' relationship with shawols and their gratitude for shawols' support and love.
The Story of Light project is often overlooked because of the feelings the albums bring up in some fans but it is actually a masterpiece from front to back, top to bottom. It also features the final song we have with Jonghyun's voice on the track and the album as a whole has his influence all over it. All SHINee albums do, to be fair.
The idea of music as a healing power, not just for the fans but the artist too, is one of my favorite parts - I'm excited to listen to it as a whole!
You did an awesome job describing the masterpiece that is "The Story of Light", my favorite SHINee album simply because it does show such raw emotion and the true love the brothers have for each other. My absolute favorite song on the albums is "You and I". They lyrics are beautiful.

The trilogy ( GOOD EVENING, I WANT YOU, OUR PAGE) is SHINee in grieve. they are going true all the phases. the epilogue ( COUNTLESS) they said thank you to their families, friends and fans for being with them during all this chaos.
I suggest to read the lyrics of all this songs. I WANT YOU have a sad undertone.
The FOX is a representation of Jonghyun, it was his favorite character from the book "Little prince". The FOX is guiding them in the MVs. But You have to watch GOOD EVENING first.
Like I have said in some of the others videos... 2018 was bittersweet, at the time Onew was not doing that well, he was sad... and shed a lot of tears, the members tried really hard that time.
Please do react to Onew new MV that will be released on Monday. His solo concert was a success! Sooooo proud of him! It was well deserved and long overdo. He have always put his members before him, and he FINALLY doing something for himselft.

1 of 1 is LEGEND!! The song and the concept of the whole album is perfect 90's nostalgia. They even had a limited edition cassette of it. If you notice Onew was not dancing and was mostly sitting cuz he got injured in one of their concert, and the MV was already scheduled and they could not moved it.
For I WANT YOU, I wish you would have done it in order... but is ok, you will get there .... The MV is part of their 10 anniversary trilogy that is called " THE STORY OF LIGHT"....,the correct order of the MVs :
1. GOOD EVENING
2. I WANT YOU
3. OUR PAGE
And after the EPILOGUE: "COUNTLESS" that is a THANK YOU for the fans.
2018 was bittersweet for shawols and SHINee. The MV I want you, even if looks light and fun... is more like a sad undertone lyrics with fun music. I don't want to talk much about the MV till you watch GOOD EVENING cuz is a continuation, I just going to say that the FOX you saw it mostly represent Jonghyun.
Also my favorite part of the MV is when Minho is playing basketball, and is seems is about to fight Onew (lol) and key prevented it... he got his hand before he could push him, .. even in MVs they are protecting him. And in this period of time They REALLY protected Onew a lot.
Hopefully yiu finish the trilogy!
In all the story of light era it was Key, Taemin and Minho protecting Onew. The dances, the performances , the Mvs the live versions, basically in everything.

I forget to mention, The moment Key was trying to take picture of the moon... make me cry and laugh at the same time. How he makes Onew and Minho fall... lol, but then I remember Jonghyun is our "Moon".. he just wanted a memory with him ...make me sad. In case don't know Onew is called "THE sun" and Jonghyun "The moon" of SHINee . It goes we with their personalities, Onew is all nature and sunshine and Jonghyun just enjoyed the moonlight and most of his work was done at night. They complemented each other and understood each other very well.

Anyway hopefully you watch "Good evening" before you watch "Our page" and "Countless".
Please do read the lyrics of all the series MVs , is really important so you can get what really happening. Don't make the "happy melody" fool you, "I want you" is not exactly a happy song. Some part of the lyrics in english:

According to the members the MV is about how they see themselves. They see themselves as the happy fun SHINee. But that moment... they were FARRR from that. So they went in to dream land guided by the fox ( that represented Jonghyun, since it was his fave character from the little prince), where they can be the fun SHINee again and see the person they all miss, sharing happy memories with him.
They wish they could change the ending of their story with him because when they wake up...they are hit by reality again, and he is not with them.
You NEED to watch GOOD EVENING, and the go on with the other MVs , so can get it all. I 'm glad that even tho you did not understand exactly what's happening , you still enjoyed they song.
It makes me remember when Taemin said he does not want to lose his memories with Jonghyun 😢

I love 1of1, it really is a classic. I'm still looking for the cassette version of the album. I want you for me has a fresh air, happy, but at the same time nostalgic. To tell the truth everything with The Story of Light' sounds nostalgic to me, but maybe it's just me. It is an era that brings many emotions. My favorites are Chemistry, Who waits for love, Countless, well all of them!

SHINee members voices are so unique, that even my husband can recognize them without looking who is singing. They are definitely an especial group for sure and I love them all.

There are other comments that explain the TSOL trilogy and epilogue better than I can. I'll add that the 4 MV's should be watched in order, whether on-line or off-line, and having the lyrics are a must. I obviously agree about SHINee's vocals, they're each very distinct and unique. You might think they would clash, but they harmonize so well that it gives me chills/goosebumps sometimes! 😍

it is a trilogy where shinee poured their heart out. They expressed their pain and longing through their music. They dealt with how others sees the group. And how they themselves see shinee. And how they move forward while keeping the core of shinee - that they will always be these 5 artists who dreamed of singing and sharing their music together. They always had and will always be. To these boys, their group always comes first more than anything.
Honestly, shinee has so many gems in their bsides! But they have so many songs, so take your time and enjoy discovering at your own phase ❤️

Here are some fun facts about SHINee's "1 of 1" MV: "1 of 1" came out in 2016 and it is the title track on SHINee's 5th full length Korean album. SHINee debuted on May 25, 2008, (5/25). In this MV there were 25 girls. So, 5 members + 25 girls = 5/25. All the girls in this MV are models, so that is why they don't really dance, and if you notice, most of the girls are taller than the SHINee members LOL -- but that's OK because it fits the theme of the MV well. As you can see, this album has a retro '90s theme. In the '90s often the girls that were featured in MVs were well known models and actresses, not backup dancers. The MV was supposed to have that slightly awkward, unpolished look and feel to it because it was part of the retro aesthetic. Also, I can't remember which it was, but either the time stamp on the MV or the time stamp on the song is exactly 5:25 as well.
As someone who was a teenager in the '90s, I can attest to the fact that this whole project is the perfect example of the '90s. Everything, from the look of the set with the all white background to the clothes everyone wore, to their dance moves, to the video editing and the sound of the song, was all '90s. They even released some of their albums on cassette tape as part of a limited collector's edition to further celebrate the '90s theme.
It's amazing how every song SHINee releases is very unique and unlike any other, and yet, every time, no matter what, it always has that very SHINee feel.
Thank Key for all the fashion in this MV. As SM's director of fashion, Key was the one who picked out the outfits and styled everyone for this MV. And he pulled together the perfect '90s looks. :D (He spent some time in middle school -- before becoming a trainee with SM at around age 14 -- studying in Australia and the U.S. And he says his grandma had an English tutor when he was growing up. Which is why he is fluent in English and is so into western culture.)
I heard Minho say once that he dyed his hair blond for this comeback because his mom told him he should do it. There has only been a handful of times in the past 14 years that Minho has ever dyed his hair any other color besides brown or auburn. And when he has, it doesn't stay that color for more than a few weeks. :D As you know, Minho is a lead actor in a lot of K-dramas and movies. So, one of the reasons why I think he doesn't dye his hair as often as other idols, is because of his acting roles. The majority of the roles that he plays are boy next door-type characters or historical dramas, etc. so he needs to look as average as he can. (Or, at least as average as a guy who was born with model good looks can anyway. LOL) When not working with SHINee he is almost always working on his next drama or movie.
And as others may have mentioned, Onew sprained his ankle in concert right before they started promoting for this album and he was unable to dance. That is why you saw him sitting down the whole time in the MV and why there are only 4 of them in the dance breaks. It was several weeks into promotions for this song before Onew was able to participate in the choreography. If you want to see all 5 of them dancing you will have to check out one of their last live comeback stage performances or their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in Seoul stage.

Shinee is easily one of my favourite groups and Jonghyun was my bias so when Jonghyun passed it was emotionally extremely hard as i was already going through something hard on the side. I took a break from kpop as it was just too much but i came back and i still love their music! The 1 of 1 era is legit iconic and easily one of my favourite! Also not to ruin the mood but the fox represents Jonghyun😭

I’d like to add some info on Taemin’s vocal journey, because I feel like there’s some important info missing. As much as Jonghyun and Jinki helped him with vocal training Taemin looked for professional help from respected vocal coaches. At some point he even trained with a very renowned vocal teacher outside of SM and I think there’s just a small handful of idols who’s ever had lessons with her (sorry the name escaped me, but she’s a very important figure). At that time he took part in a vocal contest called Immortal Songs and he totally surprised the judges with his abilities. Also he wasn’t considered a visual in SHINee. He was a main dancer from the beginning and he would hear from some people that he should stick to dancing instead of pursuing a vocal development, which (according to his own words) only motivated him to work harder and harder. I agree that his voice is super distinct and easy to recognize (SHINee members have all very distinct voices). Perhaps you could react to Taemin’s vocal development? There are some great fan made vids about it.

To Beth - 1 of 1 was the first time that any Shawol (old or new) saw Minho with light colored hair so you didn't miss much lol. 1 of 1 is one of my Top 3 all-time fav albums from the boys. I think almost the entire Shawol world is still hunting down the cassette version of the album lol.
I love the lyrics to I Want You. I may be a new Shawol back then but a similar tragedy had happened in an aunt's family many many years prior so I know how difficult it is to come to terms with the loss and sense of guilt - and it's way worse for public figures such as idols because they are under constant scrutiny and expectation of what they can or cannot say.
I hope that you girls are ready for Onew's solo comeback next week. Based on the highlight medley this album could well be my fav from him :)

The story in SHINee's "I Want You" MV is connected to the story from their previous release "Good Evening" MV. The story in"Good Evening" is about the grieving process and how the members all dealt with Jonghyun's death in the public eye. In "I Want You," it's a continuation of that story, however, now it's about how the members are learning to find happiness again. Like in Alice in Wonderland, where Alice follows the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole and discovers a magical wonderland, in "I Want You" the members follow the fox into the magical well on a journey to find happiness. The fox represents Jonghyun's spirit as he helps guide the SHINee members and Shawols through life.
When you watch "Good Evening" you will notice, the forest, the well and the fox are all things you also see in that MV. The whole aesthetic and style of both MVs are similar as well.Therefore, the story continues from one MV to the next.
To understand what is happening in the MV you need to know that it had only been about 5 1/2 months when this MV came out since Jonghyun died and this album -- which was part of their 10th anniversary celebration in 2018 -- is all about how SHINee and Shawols have been grieving and are finally ready to begin to heal and come out of the darkness into the light. The album is called The Story of Light, and the whole album is about how the members are learning to find happiness and light again as they honor Jonghyun's memory.
This MV is full of a range of emotions because that is exactly how the members are feeling at this time. However, you're right, you should look at the song as bitter sweet, not necessarily sad -- it has a hopeful, happy theme. The song is all about how SHINee is saying, "I Want You" to know that we are going to be OK, we will sticking together as a group and continue to run ahead as we follow Jonghyun's spirit through life, etc.
You also see SHINee in space catching diamonds/stars (i.e. diamonds in the sky) because the diamonds represent SHINee, Shawols and Jonghyun. SHINee's symbol is a diamond and the group was given the name SHINee because the members shine like stars. As I interpret it, they are collecting diamonds to show just how important the group and everything to do with SHINee is to them. Jonghyun is now our star and "Diamond in the Sky."
One reason SHINee are in space is thought to be because being in space is closer to Heaven and closer to Jonghyun. Plus, Jonghyun really loved the moon. It was even said that the moon turned a pearl aqua color -- SHINee's fan color -- the day of Jonghyun's funeral. And fans took comfort in the fact that this meant that his spirit had made it to Heaven and that he was now at peace.
This MV is supposed to show how SHINee sees themselves and how they are personally dealing with everything that happened, which is different than how in "Good Evening" the story is suppose to be about how the general public sees them.
Everything from SHINee's Story of Light album is linked and the entire album is about different things to do with Jonghyun and the journey they have been on for the past 10 years, etc. And even Key's solo debut "Forever Yours" MV and Face album and Onew's solo debut "Blue" MV and Voice album are thought to be connected to these MVs because they were all released this same year.
This comeback is part of a three part release containing 3 mini albums with 5 songs each. To promote their The Story of Light trilogy album they had 3 comebacks, each 2 weeks apart, to showcase their lead track on each of their albums. "Good Evening" and "All Day All Night" were their comeback tracks from Episode 1, " I Want You" and "Who Waits for Love" were their comebacks from Episode 2 and Episode 3 was "Our Page" and "Tonight". Their comeback lasted 6 weeks to represent the fact that it was SHINee's 6th "full length" album. At the end of the six weeks, they released a special final MV with their song "Countless." "Countless" was an epilogue track that was added to their repackaged Story of Light album.

Check out Onews as version of nessun dorma if you haven't seen it yet. If you've watched the live for rainy blue you see Onew crying. This was because he'd had vocal surgery and then had to refrain his voice. He cried because he was thankful he could still song as there was the possibility at that time he would never song again. The original writer of the song rainy blue like Onew has surgery but unlike Onew he could never sing again which made the song even more poiniont and Onew even more thankful.
