Dude, I'm gonna save this one until tonight. My 6 year old daughter loved the one with the mouse (without its tail). She'll love this. Keep it up, man!
Having lived in your area for many years I'm beginning to think you are in some parallel universe where the lakes aren't completely surrounded by homes and the lake not jammed full of wake boats and jet skis. You were the only person on the lake. It's no wonder you never disclose where you're fishing. Nicely done!
I appreciate the commentary on the rod rating! I’ve avoided big wake and swim baits because I don’t have a rod rated for them, but might give one a shot.
Brother your first bass was a beast coming to net with a full cabbage salad. Sweet. Then close out with the 5# fish better than the first. Hah, why not? Thanks for taking us along Matt for another Saturday morning paddle. Blessings
I am in Florida . I grew up in Ohio and at that time a 5 pound bass was really big . In Florida the largest was 12.5 . on a black worm . I fished Lake Thonotosassa near Tampa for years and that gave me the 12.5 . I also have had something that inhaled a Jitter Bug pulled my 16 foot canoe around for a few minutes . Regarding this topic of squirrels and maybe other things bass eat , add small gators . I was fishing the shore with a frog and a small gator grabbed it and as I was pulling it in , guess what , the just over 10 pound bass grabbed it all and gave me a fun fight . I have learned that the LARGER gators love the top water bass .The top water splashing that some of your fish would call gators for dinner . After several came up the bank or aggressively to the canoe I just quit fishing in Florida . Part of me chuckles to myself with the 5 pound monsters , but the only fishing I want to do now is what you guys do . I will give up the not unusual 10 pound Florida bass for a 2 pound smallie any day .
Matt!!! Great fish sir. Lol, that lure is something else. I found this beetle looking lure and it made me think of you haha. Keep the content coming man. We all appreciate you and your zen.
I saw that overcast sky when you caught that 5 pounder and I said to myself, those conditions look right for a big fish. I cannot emphasize how envious I am with you catching those tanks on topwater. You're very fortunate to live in such a great area for big bass.
I wish the wind didn’t pick up but it was one of those weird weather days where it would go from sunny and kind of calm to cloudy and windy every ten minutes.
Man, that lure hits the water like a bomb went off. I can hear Matt say to the Bass did you like my new squirrel lure & Mr.' Bass goes hell yes tastes just like chicken. Next lure may be a chicken leg with trebles.
I had about three gallons of water in the hull at the end of this trip! Turns out there was a little crack at the bottom near one of the scrupper holes. I plastic welded it back together and hopefully now I’ll get several more years out of the Tarpon!
Another amazing video by the legend. I went and hit some river smallies on a popper this morning and then I come home to coffee and a banger of a video! Cheers from the Twin Cities.
I heard, I believe, Jimmy Houston tell of seeing a squirrel come down a tree and walk out onto a log hanging in the lake. There was an acorn at the end of the log. About the time the squirrel got the acorn, a big bass jumped over the log and engulfed the squirrel. He said he was contemplating what he had just seen and how rare it was and how privileged he was to see such a thing when the bass came up and put the acorn back on the end of the log and winked at him.
Such a cool lure! Reminds me of the CL8 baby possum wake...i have a couple & they are really cool baits...big, too..the full size possum lure is insane 😂
My girl and I love your videos man and all the cool lures you try and wisdom you share. Would be Super cool if you made a video going for flathead cats👀we Desperately want to catch one but haven’t had much luck other than struggle. Thank you for being you
Have you ever had a bass come up and slam a lure while you're just testing the action? That would be a really cool hookup to catch on film. Love Saturdays!!!
I’m sure I have a time or two. Throwing the micro pompadour I got blasted instantly on the first cast and I had a pike come up and grab my lure once testing the action.
I have 5 or 6 squirrels banging away on my red oak tree that I would be happy to send you for your next trip. LOL. Nice fish! I would rather catch a few big fish rather than many small ones. Nice job.
Oh my! @10:09 that huge lure hitting the water created quite a commotion! I am sure it startled any fish nearby. I'll bet your are right by just letting the lure sit there a few moments to allow the fish to recover from their being startled - then allowing them to be curious enough to come back and check out what just landed in their world. You said it was a slow bite, but the bass you caught were huge! Maybe we need to do the calculus on fish bites over fish size over lure weight over casting frequency over moon phase over indiginous squirrel colorations. (Maybe bubblegum colored squirrels??) I would be content to come back home after having caught only one 4 -5 pounder --especially on a squirrel lure; but then I don't have a YT fishing channel with hungry fans. HaHa
My biggest regret of this trip was not getting out there at first light but for that to happen I need to get up at 4am and I couldn’t fall asleep the night before. The moon phase was perfect though where it was at its over head peak right around sunrise. I hit the water shortly after the peak time ended. I bet I would have got 2-3 more big fish though!
@@ndyakangler Just wait a few more years until you are my age (71yo) and you can't remember what a good night's sleep feels like. Then, getting up at 4am is no challenge because you were already wide awake at 2:30am. I'm not complaining; just giving you a view of life 30 years down the road.
I was fishing one day. A squirrel was playing in the trees. A branch broke, he hit the water and started for shore. Never made it. A beast of a smallie smashed it good. Cleared the water with it.
It’s been record high temps here lately. The leaves haven’t really changed color yet and the fish seem to be more in summer mode still. Once it cools off the pike and muskie bite starts getting good.
He must live near some of the most aggressive bass ever… some of the baits he throws I know for a fact wouldn’t get bit where I live lol. These videos are sick
The weight of that lure makes it one of those anti-backlash lures. You could even cast it directly into a strong headwind without thumbing the spool and still not backlash.
I’m getting skunked everyday and he’s out here catching bass with squirrels 😂😂😂 well done sir!
Right? 😅
You're not alone 😅
LMAO...
It is that time of the year, plus the storm got my area bummed out. I live in southern illinois and it went right over us. Raining for 2 days now. :/
It’s the spot he’s fishing find you own hidden fishing spots
I sometimes watch your wonderful videos with my two year old grandson. He loves shouting "Get in the net!"
Dude, I'm gonna save this one until tonight. My 6 year old daughter loved the one with the mouse (without its tail). She'll love this. Keep it up, man!
Must be Saturday morning.
Brother you are like Mr.Rogers and a beautiful day in the neighborhood to us!

Thank you Matt! You’re the man! I’ve been addicted to your vids for years and it’s simply awesome to see you enjoying our baits now!
My usual favorite Saturday video!
Mine as well!👍
So calm and serene what a beautiful day to go fishing with a squirrel lure !!! Awesome video! Thanks !
Great Show! I dig it when you measure and weigh the fish!!
Fishing with a squirrel is nuts.
🥜🥜🥜
I appreciate the commentary on the rod rating! I’ve avoided big wake and swim baits because I don’t have a rod rated for them, but might give one a shot.
Love all the different top water baits you throw n was cool to see them bigger ones eatin that Squirrel!!! Very nice!

It must be fun to wake up and think where do I want to fish today.
"Squirrel salad" sounds delicious. Nutritious and catches bass.
Matt!!! Great fish sir. Lol, that lure is something else.

That lake sure produces for you! Thanks for the share.
Congrats on the big bass! That lure hits the water like a grenade!
Nice to whine down the season with a yearly PB is beautiful!
Amazing how you consistantly catch quality fish on lures that honestly i wouldnt look twice at.. i might have to rethink my whole strategy
Matt, your reaction time to those strikes is impeccable!! Another awesome video!!
Relaxing in my bed and enjoying watching Matt fishing :) Nothing better than this :)!
Awesome Saturday morning coffee and fishing video right before going to work!!!
😂😂 that thing sounds like a plane crashing in the water
I think this guy could catch bass with any thing he would through at them! Good Job!!!
the lure is sick, those bass were sick... i got a fever
I'll be out on the water this morning! You've inspired me.
Rocky? Okay, but you start tossing Bullwinkle around and I'm outtahere!
Throwing mine tomorrow. Had it a few months. Austin and Ian are making some of the best in the big bait game
NDYak video in the morning. College football on all day long. Life is good
That's a big ass bate brother. Rob from California.
Your videos are so chill and amazing
Now that I see what you're catching, I guess I'll have to hit that lake again before it ices over. Nice fish Matt!
I love watch you fish with awesome new lures
Never clicked on a video so fast. When I see a new topwater ND video, it’s time to stop whatever I’m doing 🤣

that squirrel is so big, you'd almost want a swimbait rod for it. love the videos from this lake! always get to see some quality fish.
No fishing here in KY with the remnants of Helene soaking everything this weekend. This helps greatly! Thanks Matt.
Met a guy from ND the other day. I asked if he watches you? When he didn't, I told him you are a national treasure!
Man, that lure hits the water like a bomb went off. I can hear Matt say to the Bass did you like my new squirrel lure & Mr.' Bass goes hell yes tastes just like chicken. Next lure may be a chicken leg with trebles.
The Mr. Rogers of fishing. Love him!
Really shows the kid of guy you are. Still using the same old kayak. Keep on keepin on brother. Much respect from pa

Great fishing day today! Two very nice fishezzz

Maaaaan this is so sick!! Those eats looked fun! Glad you got some action on the squirrel and good ones at that.
Great Saturday Morning! NYD is catching some BIG bass!! Great day! Stay safe!
That lure squeaks like a squirrel, too.
You're living my future retirement.
I would like this same lure but all black. With red eyes would be cool also. Thanks for the vid NDYA.
I love me a Saturday morning NDYak video. Those fish were huge.

Best fishing story I have ever heard.

Got moved from night patrol to days here recently. Now i have time to watch more of your videos! Keep Uploading dude!
That lake looks amazing
Never thrown a lure that heavy in fresh water, but have done so in the salt. Great vid!
It would be cool to have a Bob Ross video in the corner of your videos, and your narration coincides with him painting landscapes.
"That's a happy beast bass"
5 pounders are more frequent in southwest Oklahoma but they aren’t built like your butterballs. Those bass are beautiful.
Sucks working Saturdays. But at least I get to catch these gems every week.
My girl and I love your videos man and all the cool lures you try and wisdom you share. Would be Super cool if you made a video going for flathead cats👀we Desperately want to catch one but haven’t had much luck other than struggle. Thank you for being you
It’s a 3-4 hour drive to the nearest river with flathead. I’d like to try them some time though!
Dang that thing looks good swimming !
Kinda squirrel day on the lake, giant bass.
You never disappoint. Good job

Those are some nice fish. Awesome
Who would have guessed, Matt, you out landing big bass on a squirrel, you never cease to amaze me! Take care and be safe!
I'm just waiting for you to put a small child lure to see if bass would go for that, lol
Awesome catches today. Fun to watch
and i love all these lure makers
Love it. Thanks for sharing
The squires are no longer safe
Love the videos I always like you on my school computer too lol
Throws quarter pound lure. “That’s a tank of a bass.” It better be! LOL!
That lure needs a Medium Heavy catfish pole!😂😂😂 such a great channel! Better than the contrived garbage on TV…
3 beautiful bass that way almost 13 pounds , I’d take that every day ! Fantastic !!
Every time you say get in my net, I always think get in my belly from Austin powers
That's like his catchphrase!
Me too! And i usually giggle like a 13 yr old.
I have 5 or 6 squirrels banging away on my red oak tree that I would be happy to send you for your next trip. LOL. Nice fish! I would rather catch a few big fish rather than many small ones. Nice job.
I have every lure known to except a squirrel, I've been doing it wrong 😂😂😂😅😅😅
Congrats on the 5lbs’er! 🎉
I was saying 4.5 lbs on that 1st Bass. Lure acks more like a rat IMO. That's a big'n, nice one on the PB!!!!
Looks more like western MN than eastern NoDak, me thinks. My guess would be around Park Rapids.

OK Really are you watching Painting with BobRoss videos!!!!Lol you’re getting him down Pat pretty Darn good
NDYA: Big lure, big Bass
Me: Big lure, Bass smaller than lure 😂.
ASMR fishing at it's finest....👍🐿🐟
A 4 oz. lure...that thing hits the water like a cinder block! Pretty cool vid.
Nice fish. Doubt I will ever sling a squirrel. Just me I guess. 😃
Beaut of a lure and Beasts of Bass :)

Me over here thinking my soft plastic is too big for a fish mouth ….you over here fishing with a got damn whole squirrel.
You caught my PB twice
No joke lol 😂
What was your water temperature today if you checked thanks
Guys I think he's back at it again.
We need Muskie/Pike video Matt! Its autumn and they are tanking for the winter!
It’s been record high temps here lately. The leaves haven’t really changed color yet and the fish seem to be more in summer mode still. Once it cools off the pike and muskie bite starts getting good.

bob ross off bass fishing at 8am hits great☕☕
Good fishing, Andy, I tried to buy the same Luiz that you fish with like the squirrel lure and I can’t find them anywhere thanks
