I have the original Kindle Scribe and just manually updated the software to the latest version, which is what is in the new Scribe. I love the software updates for sure and see no need to gat the new Scribe. I heard on the Good E-Reader channel that Amazon will release a color Scribe in 2025, which I will be excited to see. Hope you decide to keep the device and most importantly, hope you really enjoy it! BTW, I really like the screen size of the Scribe, both for reading and note taking, and I do a lot of both. Thank you for the video!
I also had the opportunity to test the Kindle Scribe 2022, which I bought last Black Friday to annotate my many Kindle books with the stylus. However, I felt a certain frustration, like you, when I discovered that it was not possible to enter text directly on the book page. That said, the size of the 10.2" screen is very pleasant to read, whether at home or comfortably installed in your bed. Landscape mode, which splits the page into two columns, offers an excellent reading experience. Finally, I returned this Kindle Scribe, reluctantly, because the annotation function was not optimized enough. Fortunately, I already have a Kindle Paperwhite, which I love for its portability and its compact 7" format, perfect to accompany me everywhere. Like you, I fell in love with the new Kindle Scribe 2024, which corrected this point with the ability to annotate directly on the pages of the books! I'm getting it tomorrow in a 16GB tungsten gray version, and I can't wait to try it. Continue to share your spontaneous opinions, it's a pleasure to listen to you!
Why would you even buy a scribe? If you don’t wanna write on it and you use your iPad? The way an iPad and an E ink tablets are not the same use cases at all. The writing experience is different. The day and night and outside experience is different like if you’re perfectly happy with your iPad, I don’t understand why you would be interested in this anyway if you don’t want to use it as a notebook but writing on a glass iPad is way different than the analog experience of writing on an E ink device
That's correct, the hardware is identical except they made the pen a bit heavier and added new colours, the new active canvas, etc is already available on the 2022 scribe and the AI stuff will be available early 2025. It is essentially identical and if you prefer the heavier pen, you can buy it for your 2022 version :) - I do like the new colours though.
I think the Active Canvas is the most elegant solution for writing In-Book...IF, you are going to be reading on more than one device, of different sizes.
If you like it, keep it! Life is short and it's a great device. You should try using it as a notebook. I love using my old scribe to write on.

You know by the time you read this, the 5.17.2 update with writing option is now available for the ‘22. I love the jade but not for $450.

Thanks for your thoughts!

What do you think about the clarity of the screen while reading?
I think the clarity is really good - I have absolutely no complaints. It’s very crisp.
@ thank you for your response! ❤️ I plunged and upgraded from the older 2022 scribe. I probably didn’t need to but hey, We only live once lol.
@ I totally agree - the new one is just so beautiful! Definitely a nice upgrade :)
300 dpi is a very good resolution on an e-link tablet.
@@paulus4294 they put a matte coating on the screen that kind of makes the screen hazy.
If you bought it at Best Buy, you probably only have 15 days to return....and may have to pay a restocking fee.
Six minutes in.... if you say you "Love" the Scribe, I'm going to be shocked.
