This is just off the cuff, but i really really would love to see Kentucky band battle more swac bands. Kentucky is definitely a sleeping giant that most band heads sleep on. I'm telling you; if KSu start battling Swac bands, they definitely will become a major threat to a lot of swac bands. I think them and TXsu would make for 1 hell of a battle
Txsu the only band that had a mello section. everybody else's bands mello section lacked luster which made them sound kind of incomplete imo. I'm a mello boy, so the mello section is the 1st thing i listen for. I look at the band as a family and label the different horn sections different members in the family that make a family unit. Tubas are the Grand parents, B-tones are the father, mellos the mother, trombones is the big brother and trumpets are the little sister. a Band can kind of get away with a not so strong Tuba, trombone and even trumpet section, but not having a strong b-tone or mello section, which i consider to be the foundation of that family, is like having a broken or incomplete family. Just as when a parent is missing from the home it usually shows up in the children's behavior(which is scientifically proven) a weak or missing b-tone or mello section is very noticeable in the songs.
@@Chimalayas2000 yea. soo true bro. I remember my freshman yr in High school, the band members wanted me to join the band, but they say i should play mellophone because i look like a meloophone player . lol.
A lot of yall gotta be young in the comments because this shit sound horrible from every school ! You can tell hazing don’t exist anymore. lol that’s not the sound a mello should make but if yall like it I love it
If that's not the sound a mello should make, why they Makin it, it's called overtones "oldhead" and every instrument in hbcu style marching band plays that way, have been for decades, got video proof on thus same app. Yall old heads just be talking fr.

Are you dumb? Go look at jsu and dega battles from this year. Go look at dega vs alcorn
Bro, I always treat the Mellos as the mother and the Btones as the father 😅 one can’t do anything without the other

Damn no love for the trumpets. A dominant btone/fhorn band can get out of hand quick.
@@lbyrd2002 yea.. i love the trumpet section as well. I just believe the mellos and btones make more of a foundation for marching bands.
Side note, why on gods earth are the woodwinds so out of tune omg 😭 0:58

Thank you i thought i was the only one
What is “The sound a Mello SHOULD make”? Last time I checked music was art and up to interpretation.
You don’t have to haze to have a good section
