Loose Maniac SHOWS HIS CARD! Craziest Poker Game Ever.

  • Well, this is something we've never seen before. A player on Live At The Bike exposes one of his hole cards, and plays it face up! He's up against some pretty strong hands, and everyone knows he's got the 8 of diamonds, but that doesn't deter this madman from gunning for this pot. When all the money goes in on the river, what would should Andrew Moreno do with bottom set?
    I'm giving away $14,000! The drawing will be on Friday. Enter here: gleam.io/lMFyo/doug-polks-las...

He especially enjoys reviewing hands by popular high stakes pros like Viktor "Isildur" Blom, Fedor Holz, Dan Cates (Jungleman), Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, Phil Ivey, and Daniel Negreanu.

      Now in this situation where we turn over the 8 of diamonds on this runout, we want to have a nice balance of value and bluffs. So what bluffs can we have? How about 84 - that makes a nice bluff. And for value, we can have 86. So how do we find that nice balance between bluffs and value?
      Uh...we don't, because we already TURNED OVER ONE OF OUR CARDS!
      In all seriousness, a detailed analysis of how to play when you accidentally turn over one of your cards is something missing in the Upswing Poker Lab.

    Hey man thanks. I lost $245,000 at 1-2 nlh this year and I just realized that my problem was showing the opponents my cards. Now that I think about it, that really is a bad strategy. Especially that 4 month period where I was experimenting with showing both. Anyway live and learn right?

    How is everyone forgetting that he could’ve played like he had pocket 8’s ? I think an 8 on the river gets the fold def not the Ace lol

    • @frochi
      @frochi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      What? 8's would a clear cut fold on the turn, especially cosidering that you have the one taking the lead on that flop behind you. He led into a 6 way flop - 8's can't handle that kinda heat :) It's like.. only 86 or A8 really - he's never floating twice with 84. And with the price you're getting it's a snap call with 33, but only because of the shit bet on the river. Man, this hand was a mess :D

    This video gives some of the best poker comedy that I have heard. Favorite quotes:
    1. Around 2:58: "Basically don't do what almost any of these people are doing. Raise your ace king. Don't raise your king ten in the small blind. And, yeah, just don't be an idiot. Pretty much."
    2. The rant beginning around 5:09 which concludes about a minute later with the observation: "Just wanna give you guys a quick tip on game selection. If you're playing on a game with so many players reaching the flop that it requires both sides of the screen to squeeze their hole cards in, and one of those players has a card face up to the flop, you're probably in a decent game."
    3. (And I can't do this one justice) 20:19 mark: "[inaudible talk into palms of hands] ... hands where we learned to not show our hole cards when people are in the pot and we have a hand and then post-flop don't bluff when our hand makes no sense and they can straight up see one of our fucking cards."

  • @bobaybrian

    Great content and this example more relatable to low-mid games. Nice fold/read by AJ. Kudos to Andrew making us proud to have you in Vegas/California as our #2 Fort Wayne All Time Money List ambassador. 6% bet is a thing with an exposed card when you put your opponent on 8s or 87. Fyi...86 suited IS the official hand of Fort Wayne which offers hands like this weekly : )

    Why is this hand even being analyzed??? The only way this hand gets chosen is if someone has never watched LATB before. It's Big Harry (duh!), this is fairly standard play (antics) from him. The opponent doesn't snap him off because he probably has a history with Big Harry and know's that he could be in there with any number of hands. This is part of why Big Harry is a boss in the LA poker scene, good for him.

    I honestly like the $600 river bet. Our opponent's hand is *incredibly* polarized, as he's going to have the 2nd nut high (84), the nut low (86), or a hand so bad that it can't call a half-pot bet (88, 87). In the unlikely event that our opponent has a wheel, we're going to have to stack off 70% of the time to protect against bluffs, so checking only saves 30% of our bet amount. In the event that the opponent has 8-high, he should be about equally likely to bluff-raise a tiny bet as he would to bluff against a check. In both of those cases, we'd prefer to minimize keep our bets small, but it doesn't cost us much on the margin. The only instance where our action does matter is when the opponent has 88 or 87. In these cases, almost all of our range beats his pair, with 86, 76, 66, 65 being the only exceptions. Those hands only constitute about 4-6% of our range, meaning that the optimal play is to bet *all* of our range for at least that % of the pot. Since $600 is enough to protect our weakest pairs from his 88 and 87, while minimizing the amount of money we put in before he jams or bluffs, it's probably the perfect bet size.
