    I'm glad that your TH-cam channel is keeping you accountable to do all the jobs you have been putting off because now you have motivated me to do the same 😂 thanks for sharing the motivation ☺️ Again fantastic content I'm enjoying the real everyday life of a flower farmer. You definitely need to reward yourself for all the hard work you have done, make Rob give you a foot massage 😂

      Haha glad you’re feeling motivated! I’ve found it feels so much better to just do things, rather than not doing them and worrying about it instead! Haha there’s fat chance I’ll be getting a foot massage 😂 but maybe when the salons open again I’ll have to treat myself to a massage!

    This was my first year storing dahlia tubers and was so disappointed when I found about half of my stock had mold because I read that you'd have to toss them... thankfully I found an article that suggested the bleach solution and it totally worked, my tubers are fine now. I used about a cup of bleach in a 5 gallon bucket and dipped the tubers in for 20 seconds or so then let them dry before storing again and they are doing great in storage months later.
    Love watching your progress💖

    I've realized that consistency is key on YT. Since starting my channel, every time something comes up, & I'm not able to post EVERY Saturday, I see a very big difference in the growth of my channel... I think if you posted more consistently, YT would recommend your videos to more people, & you would have a lot more subscribers, because your channel is great!

    So true, you put off these jobs then when you actually do them, you wonder what the problem was! I note your comments bout weed control fabric making the difference. I’m about to get some. It will help me define the beds properly and forces me to think about how and when I replenish the soil, as well as the weeding reduction. It’s a winner all round. I hope so anyway!

    For under table heating check out the veggie boys channel for their greenhouse. The use a water heater that moves heated water through pipes under the table and a probe in and empty soil cell to control soil temps.

    Try reptil termostat controlers.

  • @seanboylan
    @seanboylan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi very good channel and very informative. I was just wondering if you have ever considered trying a dig approach even to one area to see if it fits in with your business. You have access to lots of manure etc and you were saying that you buy in organic compost. Might save you a lot of back breaking work?

    • @bloomandgray
      @bloomandgray  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sean most of my beds are no dig once I get them started. I just like to get them rotavated over first and then in the years following I’ll just mulch with compost and won’t do any more rotavating after that.

    @hilshils3426 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Loving your videos! A quick question...some of my seeds are coming through in the soil blocks, a new venture! But not all...do I leave them on the heat mat (they need 20C at least) till hey are all through...don’t want the ones that have germinated to get ‘leggy’. Do you put lights above them ever?

    • @bloomandgray
      @bloomandgray  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I think you have to take it day by day and see how legginess compares to germination rate. Then pick your moment to take them off. If they’re getting enough daylight then they shouldn’t get too leggy. I don’t use lights at the moment but I’m thinking of investing next season for use in the new workshop x

    Not really familiar with a "muck heap" but it seems like something that could be used as compost. Is that correct? If not, what do you do with the "muck" stored there?

    • @bloomandgray
      @bloomandgray  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s the heap we have on the farm that has all the dirty animal bedding.. horse manure and straw. It gets spread on the fields in autumn usually
