ali abdullah, lol how is punisher a Disney character? Is it because Disney bought marvel? Netflix got the rights on the daredevil universe, that includes the punisher, lol
Fat people taking more damage before dying is actually accurate. In an issue of The Punisher Warzone, Frank had a shootout in a morgue with a hood. Frank picked up a fat cadaver to use as a body shield, and the hood picked up a skinny one. The bullets passed right through the skinny cadaver and Frank's reply was, "And that's why you never hide behind a skinny guy." So the mechanic IS canon.
Those flashbacks are the only collectibles in this game (I think) , also Frank has different replies to them, for example if you get the "I'll go straight, I promise!" flashback and you decide to kill the guy Frank will say "Bones, promises, both break." BUT if you knock the guy out (yes you can do that by pressing N when you are holding them as human shields) Frank will say "Keep that promise."
I know that sometimes Frank has multiple replies for the same flashbacks. For instance, when the one that says “You’re gonna burn in Hell”, as Frank does the execution, I’ve heard him say “I’ve been there, and now I’m back.” And I’ve heard him also say “You first.”

Hairless Sasquatch This game redeems Tom Jane because he voices the character. Besides he didn't have the power to say no and the film budget was only 22 million which is low budget. Jon Bernthal to me feels like a soldier trying to be a tough guy who always screams for no reason.

Glad you got around to this game. I feel it was a great game that I didn't appreciate until I was older. They don't make 'em like this anymore. And that fight with the Russian was AWESOME.
Hands down, without a doubt my absolute favorite video game from when I was a kid. It was literally absurd how many hours I would play that game. Also, the first game I ever beat hardest difficulty on, so it will always have a special place in my heart
The relationship to Max Payne seems to work like Indy and Lara: - Indiana Jones movies inspire Tomb Raider game - Tomb Raider game inspires Indiana Jones And The Infernal Machine game
So glad you played the demo. Its crazy how the FCP pretty much scrapped half of the game. I bought the game and was extremely disappointed but the demo is one of the craziest and goriest games i ever played.
my buddies and I played the hell out of this game when it came out. We used to take turns playing cause it was so entertaining to watch. Awesome to see it reviewed so many years later.
The Punisher remade, in a fully utilized Cryengine 5. With full on featured gore & mutilation. This game will sell like hotcakes. Also use the Max Payne Bullet-time mechanic, to further enhance the gameplay. Every one would profit, from this project. The Publisher, the Franchise Holder, and the Consumer. A triple win win win situation...
@ Gggmanlives - It does. However, you can only purchase it through digital download. In fact, Amazon actually had it up at one point, but it's unavailable right now for some oddball reason. I'm sure there's someplace you can find it. Check up on Amazon from time to time in case it becomes available again.
best part is its UNRATED on PC. Not the rated shit for ps2.
6 ปีที่แล้ว +1
The PC version is actually more censored than the PS2 version. It was only a few years ago that full decensorship (adding in the executions removed from the PS2 version) was done.
This game is a cult classic, people who played it do this day rank it as one the coolest 3rd person shooters. Hulk ultimate destruction is another one. Mad props for reviewing it!
Gggmanlives yeah, it's a pretty good game, but could use some tweaking like points being earned instead of taken when executing the guys with the interrogation method or choosing a quick kill so you don't waste ammo or grenades just because Franks feels like, or making the boss battles a little less akward specially the Gnucci mansion one. As a side note i reccomend the auto shotgun or the shotgun for the Igor mission.
The Punisher is one of the few games to be a perfect adaptation of the character, and also, imo, the best and most faithful representation of Frank in any media yet. He is a tactical genius and brutal, unstoppable killing machine, not the sensitive and effeminate cuckboy Thomas Jane and then the hysterical and un-tactical Jon Bernthal.
I LOVED this game back in the day!!! One of the best Marvel games ever made, for sure!! It's a shame that it isn't available on Steam or GOG, and an original copy is expensive AF here in my country, too. BTW, great review!!!
"It's your funeral!" Where do I start? I first played this game when I was about 12 on ps2 and last time in 2020 at the age of 23. I remember sitting down as a kid with fresh made onion rings, big glass of soda and just playing it for hours. It was a huge nostalgia trip replaying it decade later. It had good ammount of levels and just running around and leaving havoc behind was so much fun. My favorite interrogetions were those on Zoo level. You had option to feed your enemies to pirahnas, throw them into tank with electric eels and even push the guy inside the rhino cage where he would get impaled(by far my favorite). I highly reccomend this game and I think I will give it another go soon.
Tom Jane was great as the punisher, his voice is superb. Playing this game with a controller is actually more immersive. The sticks and triggers on the controller make the interrogations more intense and as though the act is a fine balancing act of control and aggression. Hands down STILL one of my favorite comic book games. How about the darkness games?
There was a scene in a Garth Ennis written, Steve Dillon illustrated Punisher comic where he got in a shoot out with a mafia suit in a morgue. Castle held up a fat corpse as a shield. The suit chose a skinny one saying two can play that game. Castle kills the suit by shooting through the skinny corpse quipping rule one of the game is choosing a fat human shield. I guess the game developers took that advice to heart. My recollection of the scene may be imperfect but that was definitely the gist of it.
BTW this was a sequel for the punisher from 2004 cuz Howard saint's son survived the bomb blast from the movie and Thomas Jane who played the punisher voiced him in the game as well just wanted to everyone to know
For the main menu issue, right click on the executable, properties, compatibility, and select override dpi scaling performed by application. The can fix a lot of those issues when you run a game at a different resolution
@@Gggmanlives Well damn wish Volition could have just put in a feature where you can just decide if you want filter or no filter, don't pussy it down but eh it was the mid-2000s people back then were still caught in the violent video games controversy panic.
Still got my pc copy that came with 3cds around. Simple yet faithful adaption of the character, it's one of the best punisher games (not that there's a lot of them, but still) Great review and I kind of expected you to review it in a positive way :D
Just found your channel and youre reviewing all of my favorite games from back in the day. Did you ever cover The Getaway and The Getaway 2? Phenomenal games.
I remember finding this game in a bargain bin at one of those random stores that kinda sell a little bit of everything. It was odd finding it in the bargain bin since it was recently released a few weeks ago. I asked my mom to if I could get it, she was hesitant at first, seeing the pic of frank castle with a rifle and shit. As soon as I got home I loaded it up and oh man did I love this game.
One of my favorite shooters of all time! The interrogation mechanic is so much fun and I never gave a toss about the point system, so "failing" the interrogations was so much fun.
I loved that fight with the Russian that was in the Tom Jane film. I’m glad to see it’s in this game. I’ve known about it fir a while, but didn’t realise a number of things about it, like how it features other marvel characters. I probably should play it sometime.
Imo best part of the game was different weapons had different types of "quick kill"... Also, the based on the angle you approach the enemy, kill animation would differ... Overall, there were many quick kill animations... I beat the game mostly running towards enemies and "quick killing"... My most favorite was shotgun and grenade quick kills... Highly recommend this playstyle... Also, after you "break" an enemy, intentionality fail the interrogation for cool kill animations... Love your retro reviews 😁👌🏻
This is definitely my favorite game based in a Disney character.
And based on what Disney stated one involving the Alien movies, It's not hard to see that.
ali abdullah, lol how is punisher a Disney character?
Is it because Disney bought marvel?
Netflix got the rights on the daredevil universe, that includes the punisher, lol
no Disney does own all of Marvel now technically, Netflix just makes the shows.
Please, never ever call Frank a Disney character. They own the rights but he will always be Marvel.
FUCK DISNEY

The bullets passed right through the skinny cadaver and Frank's reply was, "And that's why you never hide behind a skinny guy."
So the mechanic IS canon.
Makes sense.
was actually on The Marvel Knights run
it also makes sense if you think about a ballistics gel that is thicker or wider than a standard one:
it has more volume to stop more bullets
They really nailed the Punisher in this game...like Punisher Max series came to life.
Domagoj Primorac the games story was written by Garth Ennis himself :D
That's because Garth Ennis wrote the story
@David Davidson Thug: NO MORE TORTURE!
Punisher: No more torture.
*Punisher kills thug
Only without the writers needless mean spirited jabs at superheroes. Or his crude sense lf humor.
I felt like it was more Punisher War Journal inspired. The inner monologue Frank has, his armory descriptions were very reminiscent.
That's cool!
And a little South Park reference "Oh no, they've killed Kenji!"
Weren't the weapons collectables as well? Thought you had to find them to use them
I remember one where the guy says he's gonna be a daddy and if you spare him the punisher says be a good one
I know that sometimes Frank has multiple replies for the same flashbacks. For instance, when the one that says “You’re gonna burn in Hell”, as Frank does the execution, I’ve heard him say “I’ve been there, and now I’m back.” And I’ve heard him also say “You first.”

Hands down, without a doubt my absolute favorite video game from when I was a kid. It was literally absurd how many hours I would play that game. Also, the first game I ever beat hardest difficulty on, so it will always have a special place in my heart
The relationship to Max Payne seems to work like Indy and Lara:
- Indiana Jones movies inspire Tomb Raider game
- Tomb Raider game inspires Indiana Jones And The Infernal Machine game
I love how Volition brought the throwing human shield mechanic back in Saints Row 2 (yep, this game was made by the guys who made Saints Row)
I'm anticipating that Manhunt review.
So glad you played the demo. Its crazy how the FCP pretty much scrapped half of the game. I bought the game and was extremely disappointed but the demo is one of the craziest and goriest games i ever played.
Now comes punisher no mercy...... Right?
If there's a magic way to somehow buy it, sure.
ah that game was pointless.
Would've liked to play that dumpster fire, too bad it's gone forever just like the amazing Scott pilgrim game
my buddies and I played the hell out of this game when it came out. We used to take turns playing cause it was so entertaining to watch. Awesome to see it reviewed so many years later.
Play hidden and dangerous 2
The Punisher remade, in a fully utilized Cryengine 5. With full on featured gore & mutilation.
This game will sell like hotcakes. Also use the Max Payne Bullet-time mechanic, to further enhance the gameplay.
Every one would profit, from this project. The Publisher, the Franchise Holder, and the Consumer. A triple win win win situation...
hey man, plan to review MANHUNT games sometime?
Maybe. Don't even know if Manhunt 2 exists on PC.
The PC version is actually more censored than the PS2 version. It was only a few years ago that full decensorship (adding in the executions removed from the PS2 version) was done.
I played this game so much as a kid - like an obsessive amount... I would LOVE to either see a remaster or a reimagining of this game
I think you forgot to mention the upgrade system.
I grew up playing this game! It's truly a classic, and I'm glad you reviewed it!
On the subject of mods, i still think you should give MetaDoom a chance, at least for the concept and the effort put into some areas.
It’s crazy that Thomas Jane didn’t play a great Frank Castle in the screen, but he definitely nailed the voice.
Isn’t it Martin Soap? You said John.
Interesting game, hope they port it to PS4 with trophies. Looks like a lot of fun to play unlike most games in 2017.
Your review titles are perfectly chosen ones. from soldier of fortune to manhunt. Very awesome channel, continue your nice and bloody work!
Are you going to review BloodGDX?
Probably not.
That's a shame, because AFAIK it's the next best thing we have to a proper source port, and you're easily the best FPS reviewer on YT ;)
This game is a cult classic, people who played it do this day rank it as one the coolest 3rd person shooters. Hulk ultimate destruction is another one. Mad props for reviewing it!
This game could use some modding.
Nah it looks and runs fine.
Thomas Jane the actor who played Frank Castle in The Punisher (2004) also voiced the game character.
I liked Bernthal in the Daredevil series, but in his own series he was horrible. Not his fault, just bad writing.
I LOVED this game back in the day!!! One of the best Marvel games ever made, for sure!!
It's a shame that it isn't available on Steam or GOG, and an original copy is expensive AF here in my country, too. BTW, great review!!!
You paid over a hundred dollars for the game? Considering that the money isn't going to the developer anymore, that seems unnecessary.
I wanted a physical copy of it.
And it's soooooo worth it
"It's your funeral!"
Where do I start?
Русское посольство для тех, кто от Мэда:
One of the best PS2 games it! needs a sequel or a remaster.
This game blew my mind when I played it as a kid, still hasn't been topped in its level of violence.
I assume you haven't played Soldier of Fortune, Postal 2 or Manhunt then.
Or any of the new Mortal Kombat games or (forgive me for this) Hatred.
BTW this was a sequel for the punisher from 2004 cuz Howard saint's son survived the bomb blast from the movie and Thomas Jane who played the punisher voiced him in the game as well just wanted to everyone to know
The Punisher is basically Max Payne and Manhunt fused together.
Great review as always! I suggest you to review Armed and Dangerous, was my favorite third person shooter when i was young
For the main menu issue, right click on the executable, properties, compatibility, and select override dpi scaling performed by application. The can fix a lot of those issues when you run a game at a different resolution
I'll try that next time, thanks!
Love your channel bro, keep up the good work! Its a pleasant nostalgia trip seeing you review those games! :D
How do you remove the black and white filter on the Xbox version?
You don't.
It's worth a mention that Thomas Jane, the actor who played The Punisher in the 2004 movie, voices him here as well.
This along with Hulk Ultimate Destruction are some of my favorite Marvel games.
Just found your channel and youre reviewing all of my favorite games from back in the day. Did you ever cover The Getaway and The Getaway 2? Phenomenal games.
I didn’t, but I’ve been working on the getaway!
As soon as I got home I loaded it up and oh man did I love this game.
lol, you are lucky the box art was so pc
One of my favorite shooters of all time! The interrogation mechanic is so much fun and I never gave a toss about the point system, so "failing" the interrogations was so much fun.
Yo!!! thanks for the review sonny jim. Brings back memories playing this on PC and Playstation 2 back in the day.
We need a new Punisher game
