THAT stunning opening sequence for Guiding Light never ceases to impress me. Even if dated in certain ways, it is timeless in its soothing class. So melodic and and the images/scenes used are great. I think this opening was at its best incarnation during 1985 (the other opening images from '85 have Alexandra dressed up like a Queen and the others on the island in the closing seconds of the opening). This "My Guiding Light" theme is still gorgeous.
Well God bless the soul of the man who played Kyle, but ROGER will always be my FAVORITE bad guy...I wish they would have wrote in Michael Zaslows ALS into the story line and we could have witnessed the transformation he made in his last year's instead of being told about it by creepy Sebastian (Doug Hutchison) they really missed such an opportunity to educate and honor MZ and tie up so many loose ends at the same time by ending his contract when he got sick, truly, he made this show for years and IMO they did him dirty when they let him go...still to this day there is so little everyone understands and knows about ALS and he was such an advocate, it would have been so valuable
She's a great actress, don't get me wrong but I didn't need to see her in every single episode. They basically replaced the Reardons with the Shaynes. I'll take the Reardons over the Shaynes any day.
With all due respect, I think you and Oakdalian above are misinterpreting Reva's behavior here. She's supposed to be "unhinged" because she is still mourning the loss of her baby and still hasn't gotten over it. Elsewhere in the episode HB talks about her erratic behavior while they were on vacation.

Beverlee really did gorgeous in this period and I love Alex's never ending assortment of cool hats:) LOL@ the Empire Strikes Back. I think it's safe to assume the "Alaska" scenes were not filmed on location.
Kim Zimmer was great at showing Reva's wacky, ballsy spitfire side. The wisecracking here is hilarious. I don't see how Maeve Kinkead kept a straight face. That was sorely missing in GL's final years. The transition shot to Alaska looks more like the north pole. Then Billy goes out into the Empire Strikes Back. Beverlee McKinsey looks like someone in a film noir movie, so glamorous. This prosecutor was Marsha Talbot's cousin on ATWT. Just curious, why the edits that shorten some scenes?
Oh this lady who played Alex was just stunning! When I was young I thought oh what a prissy old lady but I was young and stupid, she was just so regal and classy...Lujack was my homie, I ended up hating Phillip (but especially THIS Phillip, sorry my guy, you were AWFUL stepping into Grants spot, study who you are standing in for, you literally are an understudy when taking over someone else's role, LOVE Grants Phillip though) when he came along...and eventually towards the end I couldn't stand Beth
Didn't Alicia Rhomer murder that nurse, Charlotte, who made trouble for Ed and Claire at Cedars Hospital? I believe Alica and Charlotte ended up being sisters, right??

I cried so hard when I saw the ending when this was originally broadcast. GL wasn't the same without Bert and Reva had taken over. Ick.

This is storytelling. A blackmail scheme created a umbrella story for more than half the cast for over a year.

I couldn't stand Beth after she became involved with Lujack who I also couldn't stand. And I hated it that they made Phillip a bad guy.
