· DOXOLOGY = AE0413, probably. The :10 and :40 broadcast times more typically correspond to Atlantic flight patterns for E6s, and AE0413 was over the Gulf of Mexico. However, it was in a far east area of the Gulf, and there was no E6 observed over the Atlantic at the relevant times. This sort of thing has been observed before - perhaps some conditions (e.g. weather) did not allow for a mission over the Atlantic Ocean proper and the eastern region of the Gulf is a designated 'alternate' for practice..? It raises some questions - e.g. where was the relevant SSBN, if any? - but I think this speculation is fair.
· The 2213z message for SAM 31 should catch the reader's attention. There was no obvious candidate for who SAM31 was, but several possible candidates. (See posts on neetintel on this day.)
· Aside: there are almost certainly messages missing from this timecard from around 15:30. The preferred SDR for the monitoring project at this time is having persistent reception issues at certain times of the day when I am typically not available to intervene. There is no easy solution to this problem, as I would suggest the root cause is a dependence on a single individual to monitor this project. I haven't talked about this in a while but shifting from monitoring the US HFGCS using UTwente WebSDR to using KiwiSDR/other SDRs in North America makes perfect sense when you stop to consider it for even a moment, but it has not been without its difficulties. The trade-off here is occasionally missing EAMs due to a variety of complications introduced by the switch to have a much better shot at capturing SKYMASTER events and other interesting traffic. The adverse consequences of that trade-off could be mitigated by having others more actively involved in monitoring, streaming, transcribing, etc.
