Hello, I am ET, the product manager of ZimaOS. The new version of ZimaOSv1.2.4 released this week will solve the 2 defects mentioned in the video. 1. When sharing a folder in Samba, allow sharing to specified users and set a password; 2. When setting the media path of the application, a migration tool will be provided to migrate existing files. In addition, the team is trying to solve more disk compatibility issues so that all disks can form arrays
Great walk through video, thank you. One thing I believe should have been added is the Nextcloud docker install. The combination of Jellyfin/Nextcloud on a home server is a killer app combo for a lot of what any typical home user would use this server for. Maybe do a part 2 zimaos video with Nextcloud and using Nextcloud in place of OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
thanks for the walkthrough - I was hoping to give it a test myself but it point blank will not install on anything. Not on bare metal (2 different systems) or inside a VM. I'm looking at something non proprietary to replace my decade old synology nas and was hoping this could be it within a few months.
There are other features and Many Zima/Casa Docker apps of ZimaOS that I didn't cover that need to be there own videos. I just wanted this to be a quick guide and starter Video.
The problem is that some features in ZimaOs will be paid😔 The Remote acess is one of that features that probably we have to pay. I hope they don’t go to the subscription train…
Im running ZimaOS on a HP G4 mini 800. Unfortunately you can't create a RAID on my system. It will recognize the drives and you can use them but it won't show the option to create the raid :(
I have a Video explaining the Differences that was a link in the description. I will include it in this comment below. Basically CasaOS is the web GUI and all the Casa Docker apps in ZimaOS, You could look at Casa as an Docker App Server. You can install it on any Linux Debian Distro. ZimaOS is a Debian File Server Operating System with file server functions Combined with the Casa Application interface. My video should make it more clear. ZimaOS VS CasaOS What's the Difference? What is New? What is to Come? th-cam.com/video/ohzy9lkHf0M/w-d-xo.html
MergerFS is only in the stand alone CasaOS App. But it doesn't use snapraid yet. They are working on more raid options for ZimaOS. I did message them that is would be nice to have Raid and UnRaid(snapraid and mergerfs) capabilities in the future. They just wrote they are considering ZFS for raid(they use btrfs file system for raid now) and I don't know about future (snapraid and mergerfs) options. ZimaOS is a work in progress. ZimaOS is Debian and I don't know what limitations they have put on the operating system its self through the command line. But if you install CasaOS on any Debian distro you could use (snapraid and mergerfs).
@@techmadeez9037 I am using OMV with casaos .OMV is debian based and snapraid / mergerfs is available as add on for OMV. Thanks for your clarification .

Im trying to remote in with "Zima Client" but I can't find tutorial videos or anything and i'm really confused as to why it won't work.

I agree I just didn't have the Time. I try to keep my videos under 30min. I will be doing more Videos in the future.
@@techmadeez9037 I figured that was probably the reason. Thanks for the reply
Thanks for this in-depth video.
Nevertheless, your background noise is a good advertisement for my fanless Macs and Mini PC servers. :-D
Great video would love to see more about this cool os

Hey I have a hp z420 v1 what is the fastest cpu I can get for it? I have 64gb ram in it and a 8gb gpu
how can you add and format an extra drive onto zimaOS system?
How about GPU passthrough?

Why do you say that ?

What are advantages of this over Casaos?
