I have two VRX modules and both do recording .While one is on my Cobra, the spectator VRX is on a small monitor and records what it is getting......as well.
LOL that's wild! Guitar riffs were perfect timing lol. Did you try 25mbps at all to see if it behaves the same? I generally don't fly on 50mbps as it's more unstable.
That is art - you can only get with these goggles. They might fix it sometimes in the future but at least only the spectator is getting that and not the pilot which I had assumed last night in the live stream. Maybe it might be a feature if you ask them long enough they will come with an explanation. At the end the additional features are adding weight on the core system aka drone and pilot and that has to be avoided therefore we see the bottleneck on the spectators side in those conditions And it feels like a tesla , half backed and the other half will be delivered soon - or maybe in ages even though you had paid for FSD years ago and can not even sell that feature with the car.

It's actually pretty interesting to see this. It makes it clear how much of the image is getting recycled to save bandwidth. When something gets corrupted and never leaves the view, it stays corrupted. Not desirable in normal use, but very cool for the purpose of seeing how it works.
I had that psychedelic effect on mine before spectator mode was released. It only happened in the recorded videos though, and not while I was actually flying.
is the WS master serving the data to the spectator, or is spectator reading the feed from the quad, just without the VRX return data back to the quad? I was under the impression that the master was serving the image, but that shouldnt break down based on distance to the quad so long as master has a good signal.

For what i can tell, dji uses a more complex system, walksnail seems to work like a normal tcp connection. They change bitrate according to link quality provided to the vtx from goggles and when ack and resend ack get lost image does super weird stuff. Dji seems to have a more dynamic algorith that changes the encoder algorith and resends data for more quality all the time in any given time Note here that the vtx has to retransmit a lot less than dji, only the necessary, dji seems to retransmit a lot more for triying to keep up the bitrate and quality, at the end is when they are changing the encoder work. Also walksnaik seems to push data to the goggles without processing it if there are too many ack looses, that is why that color palet is also seen in the master goggles at extreme long range when quality is lost
Seems like the best way to give my wife a ride along is still to hand her my phone or a tablet connected to the fly app with 03. I guess they could have designed the goggles to re-transmit their final corrected feed to the spectator goggle then it gets the benefit of the 2 way link but at an increased latency.
I got an walksnail system too. When i fly with 2 dji pilots i get good video for my first battery. But after that the video quality gets worse. Does enyone got a similar problem. Maybe just a coincidence buy your first battery was also better.

Viewer mode is an interesting feature in digital video transmission systems. But, still, this function is a good bonus to the main functions. Many users of the Walksnail Avatar system have encountered the problem of a recorded video file on an air module. Namely, the owners of the S1 and HD Pro cameras. Artifacts appear on the recorded files, somewhat resembling this psychedelic dance. Tell me, have you observed similar artifacts on the video from the air module? What do you think about it?
Honestly I'm not surprised by this result. I'm also really tired of this myth about digital FPV links "re-requesting" lost frames. There simply is no point in re-requesting a corrupted frames on a real-time video link! What's the pilot going to do with stale image data from the past? Plus, the re-request would delay subsequent frames. The real issue is more likely that spectator mode doesn't appear to have any of the adaptive video bitrate encoding that's on the pilot link whereby the video quality is adapted to match the link quality. This isn't a problem if the spectator has the same (or greater) link quality as the pilot link since the encoded video bitrate will always adapt to the pilot link. The problem is when the spectator link has a lower quality and there is simply no way to transmit the higher bitrate video over a lower bitrate link.
Explains why walksnail compression in high motion is garbage they are not forcing enough keyframes. Maybe they could add a freestyle mode where they have a lot more keyframes say at least 1 keyframe a second.
The DJI V1 comparation is useless, dji v1 in spectator mode is direct transmission from the vtx with fixed 21ms latency but with breakup, not like WS or O3 works
O3 works the same as V1 DJI as does Avatar in spectator. There is zero difference it’s all between the way the mode works. There is no retransmission between the goggles like some people say. It’s not there. Spectator mode is the same on all 3 systems.
@@MadRC I'll test again this weekend to see any breakup at a distance on G2 w O3, I've seen people talk about retransmition between goggles if its there... as you see a MAC address when broadcast is enabled and you do also get full OSD on spectator goggles

Walsksnail had this problem even with loss of signal in main goggles when flying (before some recent update)... why can't they see this is not working properly? Why they don't use the same or similar method of compressing the signal as HDZero uses? I'd rather have tons of sparkles here and there, than this messy puke all over the screen.

I did notice as you did a power loop, the clear blue sky helped the system reset itself on Avatar.... Basically, a blue screen......🤔😳😏🇬🇧

If you are going to invest in HD might aswell go DJI (unless you have a reason to not want DJI stuff )
