    As someone who went blind, in 2021, not slowly either... all at once. I laid down and my optic nerve instantly suffered a blood flow problem that killed it, I lost sooooo much all at once. Movies, tv, gaming, so much more. Seeing tech advance in ways that may help me someday is some sliver of hope. Keep the podcast going, the info is nice to have.
    (and i am on a Screen Reader, for the inevitable questions from those who don't know that tech is a thing.)

      @@ConnoisseurOfExistence I did well over a year ago, and i got an e-mail a couple months back saying I was denied entry to the program. So I guess that is that. My situation is actually far worse than i've described too. I'm not seeing 'darkness'. I'm seeing pure bright light that shifts in intensity, all day, every day, no matter if my eyes are open or squeezed shut. I could be in a pitch black room at the bottom of a cave, and I'd still see bright light. It is all i've seen and stared at for 3 and a half years. I'm numb inside.

      @CujoHyer 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ConnoisseurOfExistence I don't know how to find other trials. Nobody talks about them like they talk about the Neural Link. the one I want most is Dr. David Sinclair's eye medication treatment he is supposed to put in to trial in 2025. That one is a radical thing, that allegedly already works without any issues on animals. Just heals your eye, and the optic nerve, back to like when you were 20 years old. If that thing is real, I'd chew off my fingers to have it.

    It's gonna be absolutely crazy if Neuralink is approved for general use in 1-2 years! As I've said before, not after long Neuralinks will be more popular, than phones are now. Maybe that will even happen before 2035... I think that right after Blindsight, the applications for virtual reality via Neuralink will become possible and probably start developing.

    Right now these are the top brain chip companies that have a lot of potential:
    1. Precision (a chip on the surface of the brain, much safer, they have about 13 human trials already )
    2. Neuralink (1 human trial and 1 FDA approved trial, second chip is expected to have deeper electrodes in the brain tissue)
    3. Motif Neurotech (zaps the brain to cure depression, they have 1 human trial)
    4.Inbrain ( brain chip made of Graphene for neurological disorders, preparing for first human trials in this summer)

      You don’t need a freaking chip in your head to do that. Only to do it in a way where you have no privacy and lots of potential restrictions to that telepathy.
      Go look up Rupert Sheldrakes study on telepathy between animals and humans. Look into siddhis and other ways to EARN your superhuman powers.
      Trying to get a cheat code so you don’t have to put effort into unlocking everything you’re capable of won’t work out well. I promise you.

    No safety or security risks.
    Where have we heard a version of that gross generalisation before in the last few years.
    For those who want to regain lost faculties, more power to you.
    For those whose vanity think this will be some ‘cool’ human upgrade that they need to rush out and get, like it’s the latest smartphone, well…. 😑

    • @carultch
      @carultch 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What I fear, is this becoming a mandatory thing you need to get, in order to survive in the future economy. Or a replacement for education, that is done to children without consent. I want people to still be able to function with their natural brains.

    • @SootSootSootSooty
      @SootSootSootSooty 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@carultch mandatory like gene therapy?
      It’ll never be mandatory. And there will always be people AND children born who have their intuitive faculties in tact and will prefer to be human, rather than machine.
      Moreover, even IF this was taken up by a large number of people, I believe many people’s bodies will reject it, as it innately knows how to do.
      For those that don’t, security issues, overt levels of control and loss of key human characteristics like REAL emotion will be enough to stop more people wanting it.
      Approaching this from fear: how will I keep up? I need to remain competitive, I’ll lose my position in society etc etc is exactly how not to think about it.
      Again, the last three years is a case in point of how that worked out.

    You mentioned how neuralink could help with dementia, but how exaclty? Isnt dementia caused by brain degradation? How would this help?

    • @nanohatakamachi1066
      @nanohatakamachi1066 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It isn't said to what degree. Obviously there are various types of dementia and Alzheimers type just being the most discussed. Since the communication between brain cells is what's missing out, I would guess Neuralink can at least bridge that problem. But honestly, I highly doubt it will help. Some people refer to Alzheimers disease as Type 3 diabetes, and that's probably for good reason. When it comes to plague in our body, it has more often than not to do with sugar/carbs or better say lifestyle. That's not going to change with a mere chip in your brain.
      Also there is some kind of "cell reset method" (regenerative medicine, search for David Sinclair) coming in near future. That's way better than Neuralink for diseases like that...

    If our species were truly intelligent, it would be spending trillions on research and not on wars. We need research like this but also in nerve regeneration and regenerative nanorobots, Elon Musk can open new laboratories with government help in new research. Blindness, tinnitus, paraplegia, Alzheimer's will all benefit.

    • @ojk3863
      @ojk3863 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      True, war is a short term strategy and always loses out in the long term to cooperation. This is according to 'game theories' suggestions anyways.
      The whole problem is a LOT more nuanced than to "just stop fighting", but you are right.

    When will it be available for the general public

  • @jayyoo906
    @jayyoo906 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Let's discuss about 'blindness'.
    The scene of eyes is transmitted to the hypothalamos by way of neurons. Each neuron transfers a signal of chemical change (synopsis), not by way of electron wave. This means the chemical change does not produce the electronic wave that is detectable by wave detector machine.
    The brains have 4 natural electric waves, that are easily measured by hospital machine. They are known to the conditions of being sleepy, excitement, wellness, deep sleep. They do not relate to visionery neurons signal.
    The blindness is caused by dysfunction of neuron chemical signal and/or faulty ability of hypothalamos commandment or faulty retinas of eyes.

    9:39 i like to imagine we are becoming like the blue people on pandora in the movie Avatar. We are syncing with the electronics and if you saw how they simulated a living creatures neurons and the creature lived in the simulation. Not THE CREATURE. But a copy from the matter it was. That means we could potentially copy our neuron config and details so we can recreate a body and realign it to what it was. Maybe mind body transfer or even reconstruction. It’s not gonna be perfect but nothing is, we learn.

But we don't even know what causes depression, as there are multiple contrary indications as to the potential cause(s) of depression, serotonin deficiency being just one. Perhaps Neuralink could be used to study depression and try potential treatments (viz. intracranial brain stimulation). But in studies in Stanford and elsewhere stimulating the brain by magnetic fields from the *outside* has proven effective. That's a non-invasive and cheaper approach than surgical approaches like Neuralink's.

    So we can make combat squads that interlink their mind with the suit. That way your actions are signals to move the suit, like it knows by neural mapping and listening by ai. Plus it could allow for seamless remote control of hacked drones or cars or equipment. Even cameras could be wirelessly connected to and such. I love thinking about these things but I’m scared because America is hurting its people and we aren’t ready for this. Gotta have ai security running as some sort of protection against enemy hack attacks. Setup an ai net to monitor and defend and counter.
