I describe one way to listen to traditional shakuhachi pieces in the honkyoku or "Blowing Zen" repertoire. We all do this sometimes, but rarely consciously....
Traditional shakuhachi honkyoku 尺八本曲 performed live in the Roihuvuori Church in Helsinki as part of the ESS Shakuhachi Summer School 2024.
This video was filmed on a phone by another shakuhachi player in the audience. So audio is as to be expected. But hey, it's a live performance!
