Barred Owl hunting

A Barred Owl (Strix varia) hunting for rodents in a ditch in North Carolina. The bird was actively hunting mice and voles and kept flying back to the same branch after each failed attempt. After every successful attempt the bird flew of with the prey, presumably to feed its chicks.
