I'm using a DJI Osmo Pocket and a Zoom H1 microphone for the audio. The audio is optimised and synced before upload with the video. Both devices are connected to a power bank for long filming. In case audio comes from the Osmo Pocket it is noted in the video description
I lived in Southampton for a year and honestly I found it very depressing. The architecture made me feel like I was back in the Cold War or something it was all grey cinderblocks. I lived on Northam Road.
I suggest to cover the whole microphone. I'm using a little beanie hat to wrap around the mic body apart from the usual wind muff (first foam and fur). I found out very late that wind noise got picked up from the back of the mic body - a few days before recording this walk actually. You can also use a low cut filter after - starting from 70 or even 100 Hz to lower the rumbling
@@poptravelorg I didn't have an idea to wrap around the mic body before. I'll try to improve my video based on your advice. Thank you for your detailed answer.
After watching this video and much of Southampton, I don’t think it’s this city that makes me change my mind about English cities in general: IMHO, some few places in the city are nice but nothing special ... Good video as usual.
Kvarta B half of Southampton got completely destroyed during the Blitz due to it being one of the biggest embarkation ports for the whole of the allied forces heading to the western front. Not to mention the Spitfire was first designed and built in Southampton. It sustained heavy bombing and forced the rebuilding of much of the original city.
Well it did get badly bombed by the germans in ww2,shame the town planners and architects couldn't of come up with a better job for its rebuild,it all looks a bit cheap, some town planners and architects want sacking.
Absolutely. I've lived in Southampton my entire life and we may look kind of bland because of poor planning but we hold a hell of a lot of history. I'd love to see some new architecture to match what we hold underneath.
great video like always. England is very clean and organized, but kind of bland....idk, maybe it's because I've seen this type of architecture my whole life in the USA
Thanks for the sort of kind comment. Yes UK is clean and organised ... sometimes we don't realise until a foreigner tells us. But we are far from bland. There are some great modern cities with a mixture of old and new buildings and new skyscrapers. Manchester for example. Old and new compliment each other so well. You are right. It was my first and so far only visit to Southampton. Back in 2019 I captured a total of 37 walks within my one month traveling in Ireland and the UK. When deciding on a route I often chose some sights that are noted on Google Maps rather than shops. I missed out a few historic places as other comments mentioned. Walking direction decisions are mostly ad hoc to see what looks interesting. The videos still should give more of an impression of a place rather than capturing everything in one go. I may return to Southampton at once point and then problem go for a different route. So far many people seem happy with the video. Thanks for watching!
If this horrible pandemic is ever conquered, we plan to move to the south of England from the rabid USA ... if Trump is re-elected. I enjoyed your video, but some commentary on the interesting-looking places you passed would help for those who have never visited Southampton but would like to.
Once a lovely city, now a mess of eyesore modern architecture, totally lacking in character and quite depressing to look at. The amount of economic migrants makes it feel unwelcoming and threatening at times, it's certainly not the Southampton that I loved not so long ago.
