    I got this model 6 weeks ago, having had a GSA 1200. Really enjoying it now was a bit unsure at first. Mine is a lowered chassis, same grey colour.
    Gave it a good run around west coast of Scotland. 👌

    Hey Tony, yet another great video, not looking to change My Ninja 1000SX just yet as it’s so so awesome. However, the BMW S1000XR TE is one of only two bikes I would consider, the Ninja H2 SX would be the other. As your on the look out for a new lid consider the X-Lite 803 RS Ultra Carbon, just ordered mine.. keep the videos coming mate, appreciate the direct approach to all your videos.. Stay safe buddy........

    You should have mentioned the price. I had just had a look on the BMW configurator and the TE with an Akrapovic and lowered suspension comes out at £17635. My Ninja 1000SX , bought with 305 miles on the clock, complete with Akrapovic, original exhaust, 2 spare screens, tank pad, Kawasaki top box, frame sliders plus all the standard features cost £10650. It will tootle along in 6th at 25 without any jerkiness at all and pull cleanly up to silly speeds. It has 140bhp and a very flat torque curve which realistically, is enough for anybody on the road. The engine is turbine smooth with perfect fuelling and the build quality is as good, if not better than BMW and I say that as an ex R1200 GS LC owner. I think I'll take my bike and keep £7000 thankyou very much!

      Dont ever mention price because this video goes out across different country,s and price is different. Plus this isnt a comparison video. 👍🏻👍🏻

      Have tested both and while i cant comment on your particular bike the z1000sx i tested felt like it was made out of egg box's, nothing like the build quality of some of its competition, better bike than alot of them still.

      Z1000sx and the ninja 2020 onwards are like 2 different bikes handling wise. Look similar

    i picked up the exact same model today. i did a part ex with my gs rallye, unfortunately i think i was a bit spoilt with the gs. I spent the afternoon out on the xr today and found the vibration at low speed pretty bad, but as you point out this soon goes as you speed up. The bike is definitely a mid range bike, its pretty gut less low down. Compared to the gs, which is very agricultural, the gearbox is very slick upwards from 2nd gear as long as you hold the throttle open. I found that from 1st to 2nd you have to be much more positive lifting the gear lever as i hit neutral a few times, that`s always be abit awkward. Coming back down the gears i found very smooth. Definitely needs a louder end can aswell.

    • @THETURBOTONY
      @THETURBOTONY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im thinking a full system exhaust and sort fuelling out with an ecu tune and it should make a world of difference, I dont have experience doing this with BMW tho. Let me know how you get on with the machine

      Do you find that it’s easy to stall this bike when taking off into 1st gear? I’ve owned the ‘21 M model for a little over a month and have stalled at least 10 times when trying to take off in traffic after a traffic light change. It’s embarrassing and annoying as hell lol.

    • @THETURBOTONY
      @THETURBOTONY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItsOkLilFella I did have the bike for a few hours and yes I did stall twice. Not sure if that was my fault or what. Other users may be able to offer their experience

    Hi Tony, thanks for that review, not the first of your videos I’ve enjoyed as I own a Ninja 1000sx and have enjoyed your videos with that particular bike. As I owned a R1250GS before I switched to the Ninja, the XR is a bike that « philosophically » very much interested me. My only two doubts about the XR as I haven’t had the possibility to ride one is whether the ergonomics are very different to the ones on the Ninja, meaning whether it’s a much taller bike and whether the seating position is completely upright and the second one, how does the engine feel down low? The GS was very torquey but the Ninja’s very full midrange doesn’t leave me wanting, my fear is the XR’s inline four only delivers when revved hard. It would be interesting to know your take on it. Cheers

    • @THETURBOTONY
      @THETURBOTONY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a long video and at the end is my conclusion. Its a very good bike overall. The wide handlebars give really good turning and the seating ergonomics are upright.
      If I remember correctly the engine struggled down low and there was a noticeable flat spot in the middle. Very comfy and easy to ride full of tech and quite a bit more money compared to the Ninja.
      Prefer the Ninja myself

    hi tony the bike at the start of the vid has the comfort seat on ?, and the seat in the rest of the vid is the standard seat did you ride the bike with the comfort seat and if so what were your thoughts, i have been through 3 seats so far but did not want to drop another £400+ on the comfort seat without some feedback,in my opinion the only thing about the bike that lets it down is the seat.

    • @THETURBOTONY
      @THETURBOTONY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes You are right. The comfort seat was installed for the first part of the video. In my opinion the comfort seat is ok but not massively different. Extra padding is more comfortable but I didnt notice a massive difference overall after riding with both seats for 4 hours. BMW did let me test ride the comfort seat to try it. Maybe you can too, before you buy.

      @@THETURBOTONY Sorry Tony but you are so wrong about this bike, it's a fucking hooligan, changed my 2020 Ninja sx for this and so glad I did, don't get me wrong, I loved the sx and toured Germany and Switzerland last year on it, it was great, Now have a 22 plate S1000XR m sport, it's an awesome bike, didn't see you get past 5000 revs on yer vid, it goes ballistic after 6000. No vibration issues at all, as smooth as the Ninja, more comfortable than the Ninja and that was absolutely fine. It's great for the wife on the back too, cos low down it can be ridden very smoothly, can hardly feel when changing gear, no jerkiness at all. Then open it up and it just flies, effortless speed If you get a chance have another go on it and don't be so gentle, you'll see what a great bike this is

    • @carlosalonso9866
      @carlosalonso9866 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@firebladedan1 Great hearing from you, you answered some questions I had a time ago when I switched from my GS to the Ninja 1000sx, I’ve clocked 20 000kms since I bought it in November 2021. I’ve done a 4000km trip to the Alps and back on it and you’re description was spot on « you’ll lose some comfort on the way there with regard to the GS, which the Ninja will more than make up to you once you hit the twisties ». Nonetheless, the XR keeps tempting me. I’ll not switch bike yet, in 2024 probably. What made you change over to the XR? Don’t you miss the very balanced engine? Torquey yet present if you rev it. I’m not very big (170cm for 62 kg) and the Ninja fits like a glove and I’m hesitant to face a tall bike again (although I know that there’s a low chassis XR) so it will probably come down to the future Ninja (no idea when or whether it will come) or the next generation XR (idem). Cheers

    You was feeling vibes and jerking at the lower speed because you was in the wrong setting (Dynamic Pro) for the speed and condition you was riding, also if you have an inseam of 32" you'll be almost flat footed. The BMW Sat Nav, although overly expensive is not a £1000, more 5 or 6 hundred but can be bought cheaper if you shop around.
    Sorry mate but when you have a 40 min vid its best to get the start right or peeps turn off.
