Maternity Leave Project Day #23! "All I Ask of You" from the Phantom of the Opera - another one of my favorite musicals.
When I was young my family lived in NY for a bit, and my parents used to take us to go see musicals and concerts quite often. Before actually going to shows, we would listen to the soundtracks in the car until we can sing all the songs by heart. That way, we wouldn't get bored watching the real show. I used to beg my mother to buy me the piano scores for these musicals so I could play them on the piano. I think this really shaped my musical inclinations!
And nearly 30 years later, here I am, still playing music for work as well as pleasure. I owe it all to my wonderful parents. I only wish I could give as much to my own Smurf (and future siblings?) what they gave to me.
産休プロジェクト23日目はミュージカル「オペラ座の怪人」より「オール・アイ・アスク・オブ・ユー」です。
子供の頃、少しの間アメリカのニューヨーク郊外に住んでいたのですが、よく両親にミュージカルやコンサートに連れて行ってもらいました。実際のショーを観に行く前に、車の中でいつもそのミュージカルのサウンドトラックを聴いて、行く頃には私も幼い弟もすべての曲を歌えるくらいになっていました。それで子供でも飽きずにショーが観られたんですね。そして必ず、母にそのミュージカルのピアノ譜をねだって買ってもらっていました。私の音楽の好みはかなりこの頃に影響されているんじゃないかなぁ。
気がついたら音楽を生業とするようになっていました。両親に感謝です。私も自分の子供に同じように可能性を与えてあげられるようになるのでしょうか。。。う〜ん。。。
