I don't know the context of this show or anything, but I find it amazing how open these people are with another cuisine they're unfamiliar with. They _want_ to try everything and give such sophisticated and well rounded critques about it. Not only that, when someone at the table recommends a combination, they immediately go for it. They're not even hesitant about it. They even read the menu so intently with the intension of actually _learning_ what they're eating. Even the children, who are usually very picky in my country, are not afraid to try new foods.
I've never seen such a large group of people, altogether, be so passionate with food before. It's just an impressive example of how much culture affects an individual and society as a whole. It's fascinating.

Italians are pretty well known for being critical about food in the best way possible, but they're also not afraid to let it be known what they like and dislike. So for them to really enjoy Korean food, which can be a bit challenging for people who've never tried it, it's really wholesome!

I'm an American Eurasian (German/Scottish/Chinese) who loves Korean cuisine, is married to an Italian, and lives part time in Italy (provincia di Teramo in Abruzzo.) This video gives me great joy. The Italians are some of the most discriminating eaters with very developed and sensitive palates. Italian regional cuisine is incredibly varied and refined, simple yet based on incredible ingredients. Much like Korean cuisine. You chose the dishes to present very well. As soon as I saw the perilla seed sujebi, I knew you'd knock it out of the park! Sujebi is nearly identical with some of the southern Italian eggless flour/water pastas, such as lagane in Calabria, which is frequently also cooked in the sauce/stew. And the suyuk really is similar to arista, I never made the connection until I heard the one diner talk about it. I was so happy the Italians "connected the dots" between the two food cultures!

Ironically even they are so far away I think Korea and Italy are similar in a lot of ways, even geographically. Both have historically a patriarchy family system type in which family is the most important thing with defined characters, the father's a provider (works), the elders are respected and the mother tend the house, cooks. The cuisine is somehow simple and clean with only locally available ingredients making each town have different variations because the mountain geography and a lot of food tends to be fermented/salted to be able to last the winters and harsh conditions/times. Italy has cheese, flour, sausages, Korea tofu, rice, kimchi, and so on.

As a korean, it's great to see Italians enjoy Korean food so much. Just wondering why they served the pork so~~~ thick. You're supposed to cut the meat thinner than that. So you can put the whole piece in one bite, the harmony of the meat and the fat together is amazing and that's why that specific part of pork is chosen for sooyook. 😢 So sad to see it served in a wrong way.

Please don't judge another country's cuisine by how you cook yours. I love both Italian (my scales tell me so) and South Korean. I'm Welsh, so when these nations serve their food to me, do I coplain? Nope - they know theier cuisines backwards. People need to learn this fact that if you try a new cuisine, expect it as it is made, not a "local" interpretation of things like veg.

Have you ever traveled? If there are dishes similar to your country, there is always a comparison, whether more or less. What they do doesn't mean your dish is bad, it's how they feel and give a detailed opinion instead of just saying "delicious".

While Koreans are happy to see such content, they are worried about losing objectivity, complimenting themselves and consoling themselves from their culture, and losing competitiveness. For this video, they carefully prepared the content with exceptional skills. Their head chef is a famous culinary master in Korea. From the setting of ingredients to the nutritional distribution, the variety of textures and flavors, it is a very carefully selected meal. Therefore, it is common among Koreans, but it is not easy.
I don't think they did lip service for the chefs and the content team from Korea. But on the other hand, I'm concerned that when you get used to these things and are shown to foreigners without correcting their shortcomings, you will feel, "Koreans like to boast something that's not particularly special." Rather, we prefer to be criticized in the way they feel, because it's easy to believe that the praise that has been given in with their sincere advice actually carries their authenticity.

If you go to Italy and cut your noodles or use a spoon to twist them they will al be like no no no… they can just eat a tray served in front of them because they don’t know how to share the way it should be eaten.

For the whole video I had a smile, felt a little proud and happy that people of a different ethnicity was enjoying Korean (especially the kids). 7:08 The show, K-Tray, is about introducing Korean school meals to international audiences. In Korean schools, cafeteria food is served on these trays. The producers of the show shared that they developed the show's idea to add a twist to travel shows by introducing Korean food, after stumbling across K-school meal-related content on TH-cam by chance, and saw how foreigners were amazed by the quality of Korean school meals. Instead of just simply introducing Korean food by running a restaurant abroad, the showrunners thought it would be unique to do a large portion meal service. I have also seen that the military use these trays in their cafeterias as well. It helps for easily serving a portion of the dishes correctly and fast too, in a cafeteria line.
