    Benson is a class act. Many a guitarist could learn just from his humility alone.

      Agreed. Loved hearing him talk about Jim Hall. "The world doesn't know him as well as they should!" --there. Nuff said. Respect to you, sir! Mr. Benson giving respect to his predecessors and peers. A fascinating interview and I've grown even more fond of the artist.

      @@oza8578 Funny how some of the very best guitar slingers are the humblest: Jimi, Carlos, Chet, Benson, etc.

    George Benson drops so much musical wisdom in his low key way, and always has practical advice if you're learning an instrument. The best teachers simplify the complex.

    george benson is a class act, I met him many years ago, he was a very gracious man, he let me play his guitar, while he played mine, but I was so intimidated my fingers got caught in the strings..Hes a great player

    2:04 This is sooo true... Learning songs is the best way to learn Jazz, especially learning standards by ear. I wish I knew that before getting all the theory stuff.

    Wow. GB comes off as a prince of a guy. His openness about his playing technique is refreshing and his enthusiasm for music just radiates through. The interviewer also does a fantastic job, asking all of the questions I would have asked and getting out of the way while George answers.

      I share your words .....and it took me decades to captures the smile beyond the shadow as I
      was really submerged with emotion and fascination at my first listening and quite unable to
      cover the magicals notes and what looked a mysterious and out of reach increasing flow .
      IT still belongs as one of the greatest historic ( jazz ) guitar rendition . Sorry for my english
      expression . I'm French ....and do my best !!!!

    What a treat to listen to these conversations. I was introduced to Mr. Benson's music in 1976 when the album Breezin' took the world by storm. Then in 1984 I had the privilege to see him perform in Long Island, NY in an amphitheater on the beach. To see "Affirmation" and all my other favorite tracks being played in front of me was such a gift. Unforgettable moment! Abundant blessings to one of the greatest musicians on planet earth...

    Thanks for some of the best music ever recorded. Your "Collaboration" with Earl Klugh, and Marcus Miller bassin' in the mix, is my all time favorite work of yours. One of the other highlights of some of my musical experiences, was seeing you live in 2008, and getting backstage access for a photo-op. Much happiness and continued good health my brother. Hi Alonzo: George Benson used to hang with a cat in Chicago named Henry Johnson. Henry is a bad dude, if you take my musical meaning. He's one of the foremost jazz guitarists in the world himself, and also a very accomplished singer, too. A local legend. Anyway, whenever GB comes to Chi-town, he usually checks in with Henry and they hang out. I think they stay in touch, too, since they are good friends. I took a lesson or two from Henry back in the day; great guy - very down to earth and friendly - which is how I know this stuff. Drop him a line on his FB page or his You Tube channel, and maybe he can steer you in the right direction. Benson, being an international star, probably has gatekeepers and helpers; you know - folks to help him with managing his career, and I'm sure he has a manager or some sort of representation to get him gigs and so forth. Not sure now that he is getting on in years and doesn't tour as much. That's another possible route. Anyway, hope that helps....

    • @markhiggins8315
      @markhiggins8315 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe if you mention it to him. Along the lines of "George, singing the songs and playing the guitar is ok but but the that vocal virtuosity that demonstrates your fabulous ear and harmonic mastery is going to have to go because I don't like it".
      I'm sure George will stop it as soon as you let him know that it's not good enough.
