Buffet doesn't buy insurance. Buffet sells insurance. That's why he has a pile of cash.
Yeah Berkshire’s insurance companies don’t buy reinsurance like their competitors
@@ChaceBonanno Maybe it's because of the conglomeration of Berkshire Hathaway. GEICO already could share risk with the conglomeration cash so using reinsurance would be an unnecessary expense.
@@dragaashenoak5338 Berkshire actually serves as a reinsurer. The part about cash is true - the large amount of cash also means that Berkshire's insurance businesses can invest in equities rather than being forced by law to buy low yielding bonds.
