Brilliant! Thank you. Now I know what to do with my Sego. It’s about that size & looks very much the same.

honestly i think a saws-all, a pair of gloves and some pruners would get it done faster and cleaner. but technically you got it done and it looked good.

nah. when he was pulling the lowers ones they came off easier. when he got closer to the top they got harder. i personally think he should have stopped when it got harder to pull them at the top. with pruners you dont know, you just go based off what you like which is not always best for the plant.

Interesting. I actually use a battery powered saws-all to flush cut them. Looks good though!

I would not recommend this method. Not only is it time-consuming, but you're also putting a lot of strain on arm joints. Sawzall, pruning chainsaw or classic but effective shears. Happy pruning!

I have 6 of these on my property, two are 9 feet tall. I use a sawzall and long armed pruning shears on mine. Also a chain saw on the trunk to clean it up. Gloves are a must and maybe a long sleeve T shirt to give your arms a little protection. These palms will bite you. Los Angeles I love sagos : )

I got a bad infection on my hand. I only wear leather gloves and sunglasses now.

OMG poor cycas. Never seen this brutal technique before. I will use classic technique ---cut leaves with garden scissors.

Yep, odd and kind a funny. Someone at some point thought putting that Sago there was a good idea.
