To think if harry kane hadnt been pushed off the pitch southgate wouldnt have subbed him. Another example of Southgate being reactive rather than proactive.

Every time Kane drops deep he takes the pressure off the opposition's defence and means England don't have a target when they gain possession and want to attack. Southgate needs to tell him stay up or get off
Going into the quarterfinals I thought give Kane another chance given his record , but after 5 games I think it’s time to give another striker a start, someone who can hold the ball up or break defensive lines, Kane hasnt been doing either… Kane game is to drop deep and get into the box…. With this England side that doesn’t work as it’s too congested in midfield … or perhaps he’s carrying a knock because he doesn’t look like a threat.
21 of Kane’s England goals have come from the penalty spot remember lads, and oddly enough, the most vital of the lot, he actually missed, because his legs were gone, way back then. Southgate should of given more game time too both Watkins and Toney, after winning the very first game, therefore showing our squad strength, and to keep Kane fresher, if and when required, in the knockout stages. Harry Kane, isn't a big game player. UCL Final in '19? WC SF '18?, Euro '20 Final? Skied penalty against France WC QF '22. It's a Euro SF on Wednesday. We can read the script already. Southgate, will start him. Kane, will be woeful. Southgate, will take him off with 5 minutes left, when England are are goal behind and it's too late to do anything.
He was half injured in that champions league final 5 years ago, Pochettino threw him into the deep end when he was unfit. Plus in the euro 2021 final, Southgate decided to play a back 7 and sit back which effectively limited Kanes impact.

Why not fi a starting place for Toney, then bring Kane on after 65 mins if we haven't got anywhere? What about a starting place for Palmer too? If we play against Holland like we did against Switzerland we are going to get seriously stuffed. I like the idea that's being floated elsewhere of bringing Klopp in for Southgate.
I think playing a back 5 is the only option for England at the moment.

Southgate’s aim is to try and emulate Alf Ramsay and 1966 , well , Ramsay was brave enough to not play Jimmy Greaves and we won the World Cup with Geoff Hurst.
I'm a Spurs fan and I can tell you that Harry Kane goes missing in so many games. Yes he rings up the stats over a season but how many of them are penalties, tap ins or goals that don't matter. Its like playing with 10 men most of the time. Drop him! (Southgate won't though because he is a clueless coward.)

Defenders don’t follow Kane into our own half they’re not that stupid ,it just allows the opposition to add further pressure onto our midfield who are pushed even further into our half condensing play and when England get the ball back the only outlet is back to the keeper ,it’s not hard to work out

It's not just Harry kane not running in behind, no one is!! Foden, bellingham, trippier, walker. No one is dojng jt other than Saka and even then hes too easy to pick up if its just him running.

Kane is more suited if he has a runner-up with him to take players away from him and a wide player to take players wide and that he can drop off and hit with a long pass and then arrive in the box. he is not a target man or a run beyond player so unless you are per prepared to build a team to get the best out of Kane. This is what you get you hope he gets that one moment and scores

Dropping Kane wont solve all the problems that we have. Walker is a defensive liability, Rice is just a sideways and backwards passer, Foden is a system player who cant do anything outside that Pep system and Bellingham has been poor for the past 5 months and he masks up his poor performances with goals.

Whilst Kane is a good goalscorer he has 1 major flaw- his lack of pace! And why does he keep dropping deep when he hasn't the pace to get back up front where we need him especially in tournament football. Kane is really only well suited to a team that is dominating possession of the ball.

I am not English, but I can tell you that moments like this are precisely why England will never win a major tournament. I think we will click and play great if we stick t a back 5 and Shaw starts, it will open up running space for our quicker than Kane no.10's, Kane is also a fantastic passer of the ball, I can see him laying off Saka or Shaw for either of them to get an assist for either Kane, Foden or Bellingham scoring, don;t forget, the Netherlands play with a back 4, so if we play forward like we did against the swiss we will be 5 against 4 if we can break through the lines, and that might take a pass from Kane to a wing back driving forward
