> Josh - most charismatic member, lead rapper, dancer, vocalist (also an e-gamer as in he competes)

For their new song, Justin (first verse) and Josh (second verse) have been given more singing lines and I'm really happy for them. Justin's strength back then is more of dancing while Josh is more of a rapper and dancer. I am truly proud of them because they have improved a lot in their vocals.
Pablo and Stell both have strong vocals and their voices are always stable during live performances even when they are dancing.
Ken said that he used to not love his deep voice. See, Philippines is a country that loves belters. Later on, he said he came to appreciate his voice. Personally, his voice is what completes SB19's harmonies and the texture of his voice really sounds great.

I agree. They sounded nervous, maybe because that was the first time they are singing Mapa live. Plus I felt they're a bit tired since they have non-stop performances, guestings and interviews since the nominations in the BBMAs.

This proves that the Philippines is really behind when it comes to sound engineering. As a frequent listener and has minimal knowledge in mixing(my experience is limited to garage band and audacity) I am still irritated when I hear performances in variety shows here especially when it comes to performances with dance. This one is a lot easier to mix because it is a slow song but given the fact that ShowBT produced it themselves it is expected since they have less access to production companies. If you want a good mix you can watch their Myx performances as I figured that for decades they have been working with musicians so they actually got the best guys in their team. Nevertheless I’m glad I was not the only one. With SB19’s success one day ShowBT might be able to hire their own technical staff for this. We can all hope🤞

Actually, I think that their mic is not really balanced well, but nonetheless they pulled it off really well. Regarding with their fluctuations in pitches, this is their very first performance of the song same with Josh and Justin who sing the verses, it's Justin very first time to open any of their song while Josh singing a long verse which isn't actually a rap (he's the group lead rapper). They are improving as well compared to their previous performances. They also said they are actually still nervous because it's their first performance of the song which is why probably you could hear the said fluctuations. Thank you again for the reactions!

Before they performed this Pablo said that hopefully they'll execute this performance well..bcos at first I also thought that they're gonna tear up or be emotional while singing knowing how family oriented they are and the fact that this is the first time they perform this and it was live.

You can't find perfection in live shows we have a lot of factors to consider. If you want perfection lip sync can. I appreciate they make it, pouring all the they got. It's normal having nervousness during the show. I appreciate them for i know real incedible talent is in SB19
You said it perfectly.. If you want a perfect live performance then do a lip sync but not in SB19's case coz they don't need that.. Their talents is enough.
I appreciate this insightful reaction. Now I really want you to check out their other live performances. They did a cover of an RNB-ish song Bakit Ba Ikaw on MYX, this was 2019 so you will see their improvements, or you may want to check out their original songs Hanggang sa Huli or Tilaluha on TM PUSUAN which are one of their recent live performances.

I think it's not the nerves but the emotions are getting higher and the breathing is affected. Only 2 members grew up with complete parents, there is one who never seen his father, abused when he was 2 and lucky to eat twice a day, the guy in the middle who wrote the song seldom sees his dad and the guy with a deeper voice grew up with his grandmother and experienced poverty too.

5:35 i understand where you're coming from on this part. The one who did the 2nd verse (papa) is their lead rapper (the one who rap in the 2nd verse of what?) and lead dancer. Thus, singing is really not his forte. Yup, i also noticed the "shakyness" in his voice. But for us who watched their journey, there's already a big improvement on his vocals 😊

I actually like how raw Josh’s voice is and glad he was trusted to sing this part . This is their first live performance on this song so they will surely twitch more so it will improve. For me though, Josh has improved a lot and for him to conquer his fears is great and just goes to show that it is nice to see our boys as real having raw emotions, shaky why not and not just robot that is expected to be perfect every time and I bet they are exhausted even before this performance. Dami Nilang activities yet they remain so professional. Rooting for Josh. Love the reaction on the whole production! This reactor is really a pro, he can notice everything - the feels that could have been better with a bit of adjustment on the mix and the volumes. This will help big on the production team as well so that the boys can connect more when they are performing live. Hope they can watch this too :)

Have you seen SB19 live? Their last two online concerts BYE2020 and TMPUSUAN show they always sing live, with maybe just backing vocals for support. The songs are in individual vids BTW.

Pablo stated that he wanted the production to be simpler so that the lyrics will be highlighted more. Which fills that “emotion” you are looking for in the production/music. It is a beautifully written song and deeply emotional.

I do agree with the musical accompaniment being a little soft. SB19 has such powerful voices and it’d be almost be like shouting if the accompaniment is not loud enough.
They are dancers that was more on dance obviously not singers that were formed together, they were formed based on what each individual brings and then they were trained with many things to be flexible more than just dance and singing. The one you picked on actually is really not great in vocals coz hes main talent aside from dancing is rapping. Only one of them was trained as early as during childhood and hes naturally vocally gifted to be a singer and hes the main vocalist of the group.
I'm watching this and it's already 2:31 am in the Philippines. 😊😂

The song title MaPa ends with 'ah', and notice how most of the words in the song also ends in 'ah' specially at the end of every verse? They are not just lyrics with deep meanings but poetry with perfect rhyme.
I so love this reaction. This is very honest and truly the boys vocals are kinda shaking but it really proves how they are singing truly without backtracking compared to other artists nowadays.

The Papa part was sang by Josh, I believe he’s a rapper/dancer mostly. It was there where you noticed them nervous... but kudos to him, he did a great job!
You really need to hear their live performances. Their harmony is their strength. Their live performances are better than studio version

I think the goal here was actually to make it really show that they're singing live that's why the audio was really raw.

Josh, was the one you get that was shaky or nervous, that part is because it hits to him differently. He grew up without actually knowing his father, not memory. The last time they heard was his father is already demented, so I heard and could not recognize anyone anymore.. And so was Ken, the one who sang the part next to his, his parents were abroad working and only had one or two times in his whole life he got to be with them. He was raised by his grandmother (the one whom he considered as his parent) and she also died recently but he was not able to get back home to attend her funeral because of the situation in one of their last interviews he couldn't help but cried when that topic was brought up. Given the fact that this was also the first time they would sing this song live, it is an emotional song already for us so much it is for them knowing the lyrics of the sound was actually written by all of them (Pablo, their leader the one in the middle, put it all together ) of what they would actually tell their Ma and Pa.

Yeah, we are also kind of nervous at the 2nd verse because the singer’s part is too emotional for him, the part is for Dad, but he didn’t meet his father, and Josh doesn’t have that vocal ability, as much as the others but I’m glad he pulled this off. It is really understandable that he fluctuates but he vocalizes a lot for improvement. Thank you, they’ll surely check this out.
