Inkscape: Create Greyscale SVG Vectors (And Add Colors)

The Inkscape trace bitmap tool is powerful and simple to use, but it does more than just create a black vector. Here is a step-by-step walkthrough on how to create a greyscale vector (an SVG file that has black and grey). There is a neat option where you can add color to one of the Inkscape layers as well.
