    Thanks for the video, which helped me replacing the on/off and Thermostatic valves on my Bristan Quadrant shower. Both had failed after 20 years of daily use. Luckily found replacement parts from Di Vapor, as the Bristan Quadrant range is no longer in production. Suggest using a 30mm box spanner to remove the thermostatic value retaining nut, because there is not much of the hex surface to get a grip on. Also used a lime scale cleaner (ensure you flush with clean water afterwards) internal to the valves as a bit of a mess. Thanks again.

    Great explanatory video.
    My problem with this same shower is tiny holes in the shower wall outlet metal dome and water sprays out. Probably due to corrosion as I am near Aberdeen beach.
    How can I remove the outlet & is there a straight replacement?
    Cheers!

      @Bacrenfencing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it is difficult to say without seeing it but if it is corroded, best practice to replace the whole unit as you don't want to risk a leak when you are not in your property.

    Brilliant video and exactly what I’m looking for to replace the same thermostat. I assume this is a Scotia build as everything looks the same. Can I ask the best way to isolate the hot water supply to replace the thermostat? (Boulter Buderus oil boiler and hot water tank). I know mains supply is under utility sink. Thanks

      Thanks, yes, I think this was indeed a Scotia home :-) Best to look for an isolation valve coming from your hot water tank, you should be able to find that no problem. Thanks for the comment

    A good clear video. I need to do this with my old Trevi Therm 300. Do you know if it is the same procedure? There is a part called 'calibration control' between the knob and the cartridge.

    • @Bacrenfencing
      @Bacrenfencing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not familiar with the Trevi Therm 300, so cannot comment on that. The calibration control will just be water temperature setting, it is usual to set this to around 38 degrees c.

      Thanks Andrew. If the control knob is stuck, you are best to squirt in a releasing agent such as WD40 or PLUSGAS - try to prize it away a little bit and then squirt loads of releasing agent in and leave for a good 5-10 minutes. That might work, try to avoid using a hammer and chisel 😂💪👍

    Hi, I am having an issue with my shower system, when showering with hot water, it then goes cold suddenly for a few seconds then it goes back to hot. Could this be a cartridge replacement issue?

    My shower cartridge just came flying out and gushing water. The collar was held in with a small Allen wrench screw but there was no threaded ring for it to fit into the hold. It seemed so unusual.

  • @NickFILM17

    This is a great video! Many thanks! I need to replace the Thermostatic cartridge on my shower as there is no variation of temperature. It's either mildy hot when on max or cold in any other direction. The shower set up is the same as your video i.e. temperature handle at the bottom and pressure handle at the top, built into the wall. However, plumbers are telling me they are not able to do it unless they know the manfufacturer of the shower. Is there no way around this? E.g. universal parts, if I take the existing valve to a plumbers merchant? The shower was installed 10 years prior to me moving into the proeprty so I have no access to the manfuacturer details and it's frustrating, given how simple the fix is. All the best, Nick

    • @Bacrenfencing
      @Bacrenfencing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Take the valve out and take it to the plumbers merchant, they will be able to find a replacement I am sure. There is probably a serial number on the cartridge which will help identify it. Plumbers will often say that because it can be a lot of hassle getting the correct replacement parts and will cost plumbers time and money - can't blame them for that.

    Hello, very informative video, i tried to follow the same procedure myself :-) ...i manage to spray wd40 and the hexagonal nut opened quite nicely , however the cartridge is not coming out as in your video. It seems there is no spring in it. The model is Bristan Qube , part is 00622415. How do i take this cartridge out please ? Also, how do i calibrate the temperature. Thank you.

    • @Bacrenfencing
      @Bacrenfencing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no experience with the Qube but I would assume that the cartridge should just pull out. Try praying some releasing agent and pulling it out gently with a set of grips. In order to correctly calibrate the temperature, you would need a water temperature thermometer to determine the temp. These should be factory set at around 38 degrees, so I always mark it before moving anything and then replace exactly in the same position.

      @@Bacrenfencing Thanks. I will try once again.     • @Bacrenfencing
      @Bacrenfencing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure you turned the mains water off completely ? If it is just tricking out, it is probably just some water in the pipes that will drain, but if there is some pressure to the water, then it is likely that you have not fully isolated the mains water supply.

    How do I fix a dripping shower problem for this same Bristan shower? Will changing the same part fix it?

    • @Bacrenfencing
      @Bacrenfencing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, you will need to replace the actual cartridge, it is the one above the one that I replaced in this video. The video shows replacing the thermostatic cartridge which controls water temperature. You will need the other cartridge which turns the water on and off. I am not sure of the part number but if you google Bristan Prism 3/4 cartridge, that should show you where to get them. Fitting is pretty much the same as I have shown in this video. I hope this helps ? 👍
