For anyone who may wonder what exactly it was that made Wildcard put the sub on the bottom. Basically, they couldn't figure out how to make the surface of the water _not_ appear inside the submarine whenever it was partially submerged. So they chose to simply move the submarine part to the bottom where such an interaction would simply be made impossible.
Kinda dumb reason, yeah, but I can imagine no one would've wanted the surface of the ocean constantly morphing through their sub whenever they were near the surface.
This thing is a great example of, "Just because you can do something, doesnt mean you should."

Max Health : 25560.0 - -> 21306.9 (A difference of 4,253.1, a 16% decrease. The equivalent of about 5 levels.)
- (This change includes the level added into health, so the actual amount before the added health would have been about 20,448.1, or a difference of 5,111.9, a 24% decrease. The equivalent of about 6 levels.)
Max Stamina : 2010.0 + -> 2680.0 (A difference of 670, a 25% increase.)
- (You didn't put any levels into stamina, so there's no indication of how much it gets per level. However, I would estimate it to be at about 2 levels worth, if not a few more.)
- (2680.0 is also what its "current stamina" was immediately before the change.)
Food remained unchanged : 37718.1
Weight (The most drastic change) : 5940.0 - -> 2574.0 (A difference of 3,366.0. A decrease of 56%. The equivalent of about 32 levels.)
Melee Damage also remained unchanged : 404.6%
Torpidity also remained unchanged : 43140.5
TL;DR : You got robbed out of about 38 levels, total, on health and weight, and maybe gained 2 - 5 on stamina :\

It's so cool to finally see water creatures be front and center (punintended) as the focus of a series! That being said I have a feeling the shaste isn't going to get very much use considering the tylo, glaucus, and eventually the livyatan that will definitely bd getting tamed as well

I foresee the Shasta being utterly essential as a perm base once Gen 1 drops and there's legit tons of space for it to be relevant and useful.
It's the first time i see a shasta in action and i have to say that it is disapointing. Half of it is great but the other half like being attacked by everything, having hit box isues or not being able to kill things too close from it makes it worthless

The strangest thing in this game is to see an Ichtyosaurs acts like a modern dolphin and his bigger cousin as a whale. Both are in fact reptiles. As paleontologist bugs me out like the pteranodon have actually teeth in this game :/.

Lore-wise, these arent the actual creatures as they were in life. They are genetically engineered and altered, their ecosystems kept in check by an advanced AI system.
Doesnt make much sense, it was never explained WHY or to what end these alterations were made. But it's an explanation for their insane size, strange abilities and incorrect behavior.
@@moonbreww2449 Yeah Helena makes a lot of comments about the things that don't make sense like the ratio of carnivores to herbivores and stuff happily running around in the snow. It's an explanation, even if it's a very silly one.
@@moonbreww2449the creatures were designed based upon what the general population thought they looked like. They were dinosaurs because something about the human mind connecting more enthusiastically with them or something. It’s in the gen 2 notes.

You should try the sunken world mod, It adds several new creatures to the ocean.

Set up fully automated turrets. Make sure to slap a Nerf sticker on there
Syntac! You need to see through all the mods you downloaded and see if they need to update! That might be the reason why you can’t get/find the small salamander or anything else that goes with a mod! I hope this helps if not I tried at least.

The Shasta is practically useless since most fights happen on land, plus you can be swarmed by anything in the water and their saddle is very fragile and if you try to cryo it with the saddle, the saddle will literally explode wasting all of your resources you used to make one. And there’s a bug with the taming and it’ll loose a small portion of its health when on cryo. And the babies loose all of their food when uncryo.
Dang really? Too be honest they should’ve made a different saddle. Don’t get me wrong I love the portable submarine, could’ve they added a primitive saddle like the tylosaur with the air bubble around the player? Either way I think it’s still a fascinating and cool creature. They just need to fix the glitches. But overall love the creature and how it’s tamed.❤
@@MohammedAlkremi i really do love the creature too just wished they made it more useable like a detachable submarine for water caves. And yeah they should’ve added 2 saddles, one that you can ride it like the original dossier showed and the submarine one should’ve been a reward you should’ve gotten by doing the boss fights

The saddle doest not break. There is an animation that it does, but it really does not.
They could set collision up so that stuff doesn't clip through like that. I'm guessing they don't because realistic hitboxes would require a complete overhaul of how most creature attacks work.
its so useful to have syntac to find all the good caves to find drops instead of looking through all of them
scared me too when i removed the saddle then looked in my inventory like you and it was there. great vid you need a couple more turrents to cover all sides. but if axeman comes over it will probably attack him
A thing I wish they added is if you set a go here while piloting the Shasta the shasta would then go to that location so you could set it to move to the ping while you craft stuff inside
It makes me happy that you use anomalocaris so much! I adore that creature. I even have a tattoo of one.
In hindsight, I have to wonder if releasing on console as well was a mistake? A:SA is so unrelentingly buggy and it seems to take _way_ longer than it should for WC to put out chunky patches, possibly partially because of the authentication processes for console. It sucks, but I wonder if it would have been better to delay console release for at least a few maps, in order for them to get as many bugs worked out on pc as possible, as quickly as possible.
...though that's assuming that WC would even be trying to fix them in the first place. 🙃 Ah well.
I'm not gonna lie, I was looking forward to the Shasta because the oceans in Ark are so interesting, they have so much potential but are criminally underutilised! But it seems...kind of disappointing for its tier, and the initial saddle was worlds better, and I fully agree with everyone who says there should be a Primitive saddle for it. I was really hoping this creature and the saddle would totally change the ocean game, but I dunno. Absolutely love this concept in theory, but pretty disappointed in reality.

Definitely agree with making one of these whales yellow for the submarine! Just make sure some dung beetles are on board too

FYI a pyromane makes jerky faster than 2 preserving bins AND it will power all your forges and can make them run faster at the expense of it's food. It will also run the oil lamps, torches, campfires etc etc etc without fuel. So if you wondered just how OP they are .. yeah that OP. The spot is just south of Jims Cove and has unlimited Shastas and just below them unlimited Dunks, like instant repops soon as you go out of render.
You four should do a series where there is only one set of artifacts. You can either team up 2v2 or all agaisnt all, but you have to steal the artifacts and have posession for 3 days before you can use them. Could be a fun shinnanigans without going crazy like destroying bases or killing creatures. Traps are 100% on the table tho
The weight on it was 4 thousand but when u pulled it up it was a 5 thousand then changed when u leveled the health

I feel like a moon pool style entry would have been better. You could then surface other water tames straight into it making moving resources easier

I do like the Shasta's model and animations. Like you, though, I wish there was a primitive saddle we could use with it. If the submarine saddle is the only one we get, I likely won't be taming any. Of course, most critters are designed for the PvP half of the game, so I don't get tons of use out of them.

The shasta saddles are actually more common than youd think. I have found 5 or so and I havent cleared the caves many times.
Put boxes in gaint dolphin and keeps Jim from raiding Or you can breed dodos and place them in Axe and Jims bases!
I dont mind wildcard moving the saddle to under the creature but I wish they would have made it flushed with the bottom of the whale so that its not just held up by a pole...
Getting a fully yellow Shasta and calling it Lemon would be fantastic

You can capture the whale with the saddle on it looks terrifying when you do cause it looks like it breaks the saddle but I can confirm it doesn’t break it however I didn’t try it with structures built on the saddle but I’d assume it would break/pick them up
We all know syn spawned in that op pickaxe, I never find anything that good in drops
The Dododex says you gotta feed a 150 64 times with its preferred kibble. I guess it’s 25 times for you because of your rates, but it’ll be almost next year before I think about taking this.

this implementation would have been a lot cooler if it was more like a mosa with vacuum compartments on a platform saddle and the abilities were tek additions (like the mek mods)

Today you became the third big Ark TH-camr i know who outed himself to not knowing anything about prehistoric animals :D Shastasaurus is, like Ichtyosaurus, no fish. Its a marine reptile, like Mosasaurs or Plesiosaurs. So its just a logic thing that these don’t give fish meat (That’s why i hate people calling them dolphins, i see the similarity, but its twice dumb. First, its not a dolphin, neither are they related, second, if people consider this a dolphin and wondering, why its not dropping fish, do the same people consider dolphins as fish?)
I would think they'd be handy in a forward operating base for someone who spends their time almost exclusively underwater. like as a supplement to an underwater base. The unfortunate thing is that we're pretty much done with maps with deep water until Rag comes out.
Well there’s also gen 1, crystal isles(kinda), and lost island but yeah a lot of maps are kinda limited in what you can do. I will die on the hill that they should’ve added some type of giant crab mini boss in the abyss area on center, even if it was just a scaled up karkinos I wouldn’t care, it’d be something to work towards with your aquatic tames. The ocean is probably one of the most consistent places in the game that could handle multiple roaming mini bosses or full on world bosses, a battle hardened mosa, a elder tuso that’s now very aggressive, a tek enhanced megalodon made by the ark to control water fairing survivors, a giant crab, just something damn it
Sadly true wished for a bigger ocean on Abarration or crystal isle but that won't happen

I don't have ASA, and I will never buy it till it will be at least at the lvl of ASE in regards to the amount of maps, creatures, content, etc... But I still watch lots of youtubers playing it, to just name a few, there are sossage party members and monarks, so my whole opinion about ASA is based on their videos and streams... So as it goes, let's think about what creatures ASA provided us with so far...
We have gigaraptor, creature that made dino babies completely useless, creature that from what I see most youtubers don't use at all... But at least it has quite interesting taming mechanics...
We have fasolas, which are nice and good enough tame, annoying taming mechanics, but still decent tame.
We have oasis, which is vey unfinished in terms of looks, inventory box etc. with kinda OP abilitie to resurrect, yet not OP in overhall... Very meh taming mechanics.
We have Pyromane, which is ultimate cash grab.... Just a reskin of a shadowmane, with some insanely OP abilities, 100% p2v creature that ruins even the tiniest ballance that this game supposed to have... lame taming mechanics, that even a low lvl beachbob can handle....
We have that whale... Utterly useless creature, that looks and sounds good in a concept, but in the game it's lame as hell. has no good purpouse and is quite boring... Only reason ppl are taming this is so they could tell that they had tamed it, but they don't usually use it at all... Taming mechanics is... ok I guess... Whole creature is buggy at least, has weird saddle concept which can easly mesh through the ground...
With all that summmed, I really don't see a bright future for this game... No surprise there, that devs decided that implementing far better creatures made by modders is the way to go... At this point everything that's good with ASA comes from some ASE mods( I mean the idea), to be fair? If a bunch of modders would gather up and combine their talents to work on making ASA or ASE a better game, their finished product would be far better than anything that ark devs can possibly provide for us...
