Sonnet #5
Christina Rossetti
Lord, Thou Thyself art Love and only Thou ;
Yet I who am not love would fain love Thee;
But Thou alone being Love canst furnish me
With that same love my heart is craving now.
Allow my plea ! for if Thou disallow,
No second fountain can I find but Thee ;
No second hope or help is left to me,
No second anything, but only Thou.
O Love, accept, according my request ;
O Love, exhaust, fulfilling my desire :
Uphold me with the strength that cannot tire,
Nerve me to labour till Thou bid me rest.
Kindle my fire from Thine unkindled fire.
And charm the willing heart from out my breast.
Kindle my fire from Thine unkindled fire.
And charm the willing heart from out my breast.
you have a beautiful voice you deserve your heart`s desires you give pleasure and joy to whoever is fortunate to hear you bless you beautiful lady
Very lovely - I'm a little confused with the phrase kindle my fire with thine unkindled fire. Does that mean since He is God that His fire is perpetual and needs no rekindling? There may be a better word to replace. Eternal may be a better word.
This is not a criticism but a compliment in that the poem was thought provoking and very relevent. O how we need Him. He is everything. Everything.
Blessings.
Yes, God's fire is unkindled, it did not require an outside force to be ignited - unlike our own. Yes, all in Him, from Him, and by Him. God bless, and may you be blessed for being a searcher and an asker of questions! "The (Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so." (Acts 17)
