Looking forward to see more of your fights. I am going to start training kickboxing by myself this weekend only for "fun" but always wondered what it would be like to be in a kickboxing match.

That’s awesome man, I think everyone should learn a little kickboxing and ground defense. Competing is something else…the feeling is like no other!
I’ve actually fought again recently on may 14th. I competed at XKO 50 and got a 1:18 first round submission….unfortunately it doesn’t look like XKO is going to release any of the footage. Hopefully my next fight is more accessible!

This is inspiring man, you improved so much after your first fight. Your first fight was a war, freaking awesome. Not that your first was a bad performance or anything but wow you looked much looser and flowed more. Also massive respect for stepping in the ring in the first place, I just started training 2 months ago and want to eventually compete! I’m still super stiff but hopefully with time I’ll flow more

Thank you for the kind words brother!
I definitely felt a lot more loose. My first fight was after only 6 weeks of training. This was about 14 weeks (3 1/2-4 months) of training and like you said I felt way more fluid.
It takes some time to reprogram the body…Im sure you’ll start feeling more fluid sooner than you think.
One thing I did differently for this fight was I treated it more like a sparring match. I wasn’t trying to just knock his head off.
Much respect to you getting in the gym and working towards your goals. Getting in the ring is a feeling like no other. I wish you the best, and I hope you take that step and compete one day!

Nice bro, keep it up. you got heart and obviously dedicated to the gym. You're way better, more power and tighter. Not a street brawl like ur 1st fight,, a real fighter.. Awesome fight bro, deserve the knock out

Yeah, being in front of a crowd and knowing the other person is going to try their best to knock you out gets your adrenaline pumping hard and makes you gasp for air after 30 seconds. But its the closest thing to being in an actual fight

Man I really wish I could post my XKO 50 mma match, but I don’t own copyright to it. I just recorded the replay on my phone. the next fight I have should be on XKO 52 in August. I’ll most likely make a video giving the details on how to watch next month when I have a little more info. I need to make sure I have an opponent this time, because it didn’t workout for XKO 51

I was gonna try to have my first muay thai fight march 2020 but covid had to screw me up. I was working my ass off. Just started training again 2 weeks ago (Ik a long ass time off thanks covid) but in a few months im gonna try to get one again.

    • @harrisonlayne2352

Hell yeah man, even if you did take a long break the fact that you’re wanting to jump back in there speaks volumes. Plenty of people fall of and just never get back to it. It’s a grind, and it’s easy to just go home and relax.
I feel you on the Covid issue too. I actually just got over Covid myself. Yesterday was my first day back and I could definitely feel it!

@@harrisonlayne2352 At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go back at all I was really hesitant to go back but then I thought to myself “if I don’t go back and start training again I know down the road i’ll regret it tremendously” so I went back and now I couldn’t be happier that I did. I already got my first blackeye in about 2 years a couple days ago from sparring. Feels good haha! Also really glad you recovered from covid. Its a scary thing.

    • @harrisonlayne2352
      @harrisonlayne2352  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

@@chrisfenwick2094 yeah I’m trying to fight as much as I can it’s like an addiction haha
My advice would be to train a minimum of 4 days a week, and to try not to take more than 2 days away from the gym. (It’s hard to really get in the flow when you’re inconsistent)
Try and Watch fights weekly and take away something that you want to learn or improve upon every week. (ESPN app is great)
Whenever I work on something in class thats difficult or awkward I go home and slow motion shadow box the move while it’s fresh in my head.
Don’t practice with the new guys in class if you can help it. Practice with the dudes that are skilled and have been training a while. Typically they will correct mistakes you make before they become bad habits
Those are just a few things I’ve done and I think it’s helped me learn faster.

Yeah I wrestled for 6 years. I also tried out Muay Thai, and boxing for a month or 2 each. I always had trouble finding quality gyms in my area that I enjoyed training in.
Where I’m at now I’ve been training 8 months. Dutch kickboxing has been my favorite style by far!
