    Is so nice of you to do this video for your customers, that shows you care so thank you Tina! I use the miracle grow soil but I add extra perlite, I noticed in time is compacting really bad.

      Glad this helped you, it also helps me because it reduces the number of question emails I receive. I love hearing from people but at the same time, it becomes very difficult to get all of the emails answered in a timely manner (there are too many) so these videos should help both you the growers and I the information center haha. xx

    Hi Tina, love your videos, fantastic. Is there a video explaining the temperature range, you use in the summer and winter break? And what type of grow lights you use. How and where do you store your leaves , I loose so many. Are you able to send plugs or leaves to Australia? Continue doing what you do best.

    I was at a spring gardening show and one of the ladies there years ago was growing African violets at her home in her basement and she used small styrofoam cups. I found out through the years that the styrofoam cups work best for any kind of cutting or for baby African Violet plants. Not sure if it's possible but it's almost as if there are little air pockets that allow air to get to the roots... Plus it's so easy to get drainage in the bottom of those cups you just take your thumb and pointing finger and just pinch the bottom of the Styrofoam cup and you can easily pinch out 3 little holes very quickly and then I just throw those little pinches of Styrofoam in my potting soil to help aerated. But I like the smallest styrofoam cups the best... And I think I'm going to use some styrofoam egg cartons cut them in half and use the top of that egg carton as a drainage tray and put holes in the bottom of the egg carton part where the eggs were sitting. I have a little flower that's a Hanging Vine that looks like many African Violets but it's not I can't remember the name right now and I have tiny little cuttings I'm trying to get to grow and you just inspired me to get the egg carton out and Route them that way because it's impossible to root them in water these little plantlets thank you so much. I'll try to make a video on it

    Tina - thanks for this great information. I think I’ve planted my violets too high in the pot. Great explanation and video on where to place the plants. Love the pot size info too!

    In the video you only use plastic pots. I was wondering what your feeling was on potting up these young plants in appropriate sized clay pots?

    Thank you so much for that video, I'm really grateful: I've learned a lot. I've planted my plugs in pot wayyy to big last times, and not deep enough ^^ I'll do better with the next batch :)! I was wondering, when i grow babies from leaves, should I put them in 1 inch after? Or can i go directly to the 2? And god the mini seems soooo mini ^^' It's so cute, I've never dared try them but ordered some this year^^ I was also wondering, you say not the windows with afternoon sun, what will that much sun do? thank you so much again:)!

      Hello Elodie, you are very welcome, many were asking for this video as many are ordering plugs for the first time lol ... When you plant little babies coming off leaves, you can put them in the 2" pots right away. One inch pots are great but they dry up VERY quickly and you can lose a lot but just forgetting them for a few days so in the 2" pot, there is a tad more soil and they will remain moist a little longer... Hope this helps. Tina xx

    You have taught me so much thank you. I feel more confident about growing African Violet's. Can you do a video on growing African Violet's from seeds?

    • @BloomloversAfricanViolets
      @BloomloversAfricanViolets  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So glad to help Peach, they are easy to grow when you know the simple basics.... Eventually, I will get to the seed growing but before that, we will have to go thru the pollinating process which is something that I will show you all how to do... stay tuned (lol)

    Is sphagnum peat moss ok? That's all I could find at my garden store.

    Hi, Tina. I was just on the bloomlovers site, and most of the plants are out of stock. When will the stock be refilled? I saw some beautiful plants that I'm looking forward to becoming available haha

    • @BloomloversAfricanViolets
      @BloomloversAfricanViolets  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Aqua, I am sorry a lot of plugs are sold out, they go really fast in the first few days I offer them. There will be more offered during the season but I don't have specific dates, the plants need to reach a certain size before I offer them and that is mother nature's call, they take the time they need. The only way to know is to use the "notify me when back in stock" function on the website. Sorry I can't give you a more precise answer. Tina xx

      @@BloomloversAfricanViolets that's okay :) I'm just starting out and yesterday was my first time visiting the site. I'll use the notify me option for the ones I want :)

    Ok.. I always potted my violets with a little neck... To be on the safer side.. I don't mind the neck.. Only want my violets to be alive.. Just wanted to ask about the lighting.. Will normal tube lights do for growing violets?

    • @BloomloversAfricanViolets
      @BloomloversAfricanViolets  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Apum, I have a light video coming up soon but for now, just choose bulbs that are either daylight, or Cool white and that will work well. If you have a choice, go with the LED's.

    It would have been much more beneficial if you would have “zoomed in” on that vital portion of the video, especially for the newbies.

    Do you recommend a water meter

    • @BloomloversAfricanViolets
      @BloomloversAfricanViolets  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Kathy, I know that some people use them, I don't suggest it necessarily as it is easy to learn to know when the plants need water. I made a video recently explaining about watering african violets, just look in the channel, it won't be far down the list, I think I uploaded it just last week. Hope this helps. Tina xx

      Hello Lynn, this just means that you have figured it out (-: This is what I mean when I say that eventually you will be able to just look at your plants and know if they need water or not.... you are there girl !!!! you have mastered it, congrats... Thank you for sharing Tina xx

    Just tried to order but it said site is not secure so how do we order or pay.. too risky to order with charge card so do you take checks

    • @BloomloversAfricanViolets
      @BloomloversAfricanViolets  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Kathy, you can go thru checkout not a problem, it won't ask you for any banking information and won't ask you to pay. I send the invoices manually the old fashion way, manually directly thru paypal. When I send the invoice with shipping, you will receive an email from paypal with payment instructions (and they are secure). Hope I am explaining this clearly... tina xx
