You need a Trouba defender on the pod…Rangers literally won the president trophy last year with the best record we’ve ever had with most come from behind wins, and lost to cup champs with 6…with the best penalty kill in the post season, with 2nd PK regular season (which he’s 1st option) 1 goal games and our PP went for like 1-19 (which Trouba isn’t on). He had 7 points in the post season, double Millers and 1 less than Fox (which once again he’s not on PP). Last year he was top 20 in hits for a defense, and top 12 in the league for blocked shots (while missing 13 games). Trouba did all the glue work for the team, and was covering for Miller who made some of the worst defensive decisions I’ve ever seen. I’m not gonna say he didn’t take a step back, I think the injury hurt his timing which is why the chicken wing came out a bit more after the injury. The problem is Dolan cares more about the fans than winning and the Rangers media market wanted him gone, so Drury made it happen. Now objectively we got a good deal from the ducks, and he played more like a 5-6 million dollar defensemen. He wasn’t “bad” like miller/ lindgren have been. Now that he’s gone people are going to see truth on holes the defense has, that Trouba did really well in his role.
Regarding Trouba not wanting to leave New York, his wife is in her last year of residency and they have a newborn. I think he knew he had to accept a trade or get waived and have no choice on what team so they will have to live separately for the next 6 months or so no matter what. However, once her residency is done Anaheim is much better than Columbus for jobs for her. At this point it seems like they (Trouba and his wife) are prioritizing her career going forward.
I think one thing about giorgiev that gets missed is how much he got played. The injury to Francouz made him play so much 2 years ago and he did great that year. But I think that wore him down and started the slide we saw last year. Had he been in a tandem I think we'd be having a different conversation than we are now
I'd like a few things change on the next CBA. I don't like the bonus money being structured where the players are basically buyout proof. That should change for ownership. I also think NTCs should be changed from no trade clauses to no team clauses so that players can at least protect themselves from waivers.
A very extreme hot take I have is that Florida comes out the east. Of course this all depends on Bobrovsky/Knight not playing like dog poop but if bob is even above average I think Florida wins the East with their only comp being the caps or the canes imo
Really enjoying the talk. Was looking forward to this so you’re doing really well for me to look forward to something.

Love the content bart! Could you possibly do a video ranking teams bottom six forwards?
Thansk and maybe!

Keller isn’t a center you silly fella

True played an absurd 63 last year

1:10:57 pause....
Columbus would’ve been taking an NHL defender in exchange for picks. Columbus obviously isn’t contending so they don’t mind the contract

Also it’s not even a hot take it’s just my opinion lol
Not a hot take at all. They’re easily the favourites right now lol
Calgary gave up a 1st to get rid of Sean Monahan with 1 year left at 6 million...How did the Rangers not have to give up a 1st.
Yep and then the habs flipped him for a 1st rounder a year later
Blackwood not being better than georgiev is an insanely horrid take 😭
it’s true
I’m sorry MB but your co-host makes so many mistakes. Pronunciation, positions, salaries, general knowledge. Gotta have some better notes
